The Arctic Village is known as a paradise for travelers, yet it's also a hotbed of violent and bloody crimes. For the wealthy, the Arctic Village provides a treatment akin to divine extravagance under the leadership of the rugged war-god Casadin, as long as they pay a sufficient protection fee, no one dares to make trouble in this dreamland. After all, decay and darkness are the common conditions of these war-torn planets.
There are only three groups that Casadin does not charge for protection. One is the rebellious power active in the Death Desert, also known as the Takla(TK) power. As a top fugitive and driver in Mardis, Casadin is evidently wary of TK.
The second are solitary travelers of Rank 2 and above. As a ranked warrior, those with the strength of Rank 2 are absolute powerhouses who dominate millions of others, and possess the ability to protect themselves. Naturally, they receive some favors.
The third are the main forces active in Mardis. Soldiers in Imperial or Federal Army uniforms can come and go here without any implication, at least on the surface. However, many soldiers have mysteriously vanished midway. To avoid any potential issues, Feng Yi made a low-key visit without wearing his military uniform. Although appearing in uniform can intimidate others, and Casadin dare not openly provoke soldiers of sovereign nations, the hatred is even more intense beneath the surface.
This chaotic place is a mixed bag, thus upon entering, Feng Yi chose a quiet corner to sit down and ordered a glass of zero-degree beer and a plate of beef peanuts with a snap of his fingers.
He then started drinking one glass after another, all the while monitoring the surrounding conversations. In order to keep his identity hidden, Feng Yi was dressed, hooded and masked like an Assassin, yet his handsome appearance did not go unnoticed by an alluring dancer, who boldly took a seat across from him.
With her gold hair and attractive face slightly marred by excessive makeup, a strong scent perfumed the air around her. "Handsome, could you buy me a drink?" she asked.
"Sorry, I'm not interested."
The dancer leaned closer and cast him a coquettish look. Feng Yi could feel waves of warmth hitting his face. "Just one drink, stranger," she practically purred, emphasizing the word 'stranger' as a veiled threat.
Feng Yi chuckled. "What if I say no?"
She put on a sulky face. "You're a real bore."
The dancer realized that Feng Yi was not an easy target and, deciding not to waste her time, she rose to leave. However, just as her buttocks lifted from the seat, a gold coin hit the table where she had sat.
Her eyes sparkled at the sight of the coin, her expression shifting rapidly as if she were flipping through a book. Just as she was about to snatch it, Feng Yi placed his beer bottle onto it.
Despite having seen a multitude of people, the dancer recognized that Feng Yi was a skilled player.
"As much as I'm not interested in beauties, I do have a peculiar taste for strange news, such as…" he started, slowly lifting his hand from the bottle as he voiced the question he wanted to ask. Of course, the question's mere existence implied the dancer would indeed know the answer. He was simply unfamiliar with local customs and thought it best to ask.
Two minutes later, Feng Yi had the information he wanted. The auction would be held tomorrow, and any item for sale needed to be registered in advance, although rare items of immense value could be exceptions.
The purpose of Feng Yi's visit was twofold: to buy military supplies and to auction off some items that held no value to him. His main item for sale was the ban on space magic items. The sale had been approved by Blade Warrior because, as a one-time item, it was now meaningless to him. That being said, it could still cause significant magnetic field interference within a certain range, making it a kind of secondary product of a ban on space magic. While it was not universally applicable and seemed more like an ornament to the enormous Flaming Legion, it had notable research value and was therefore better sold than wasted. With the money from the sale, something of high value could be purchased.
St. Marlo Auction House was the information Feng Yi had gathered the night before. Naturally, Feng Yi had his reasons for choosing to auction his items here: he couldn't possibly attend a legitimate auction in Mardis due to his status. Most of the Mardis royal city fell under Saudi jurisdiction, and even though it had become a nominal rule only, the Federal Army had not yet successfully conquered the Death Desert's hemisphere.
St. Marlo Auction House fell under Casadin's jurisdiction. That day, Feng Yi, who preferred to remain anonymous, contacted St. Marlo. The opulent and grand designs of the Arctic Village took his breath away. Upon entering St. Marlo, Feng Yi was fully engrossed in the classical grandeur of the place.
However, he was quickly stopped by a black-clothed bodyguard holding a real gun, "This is Ms. Bella's office, no unauthorized personnel are allowed near."
Only after Feng Yi presented the temporary ID card did the bodyguard make a respectful gesture of invitation, "Please follow me, sir."
"Alright."
Feng Yi was quickly brought to Bella's room by the bodyguard. Bella had been expecting him since yesterday, when she learned a mysterious person had consigned a magical magnetic device to the auction house and was due to visit the following day. As expected, he did show up.
