Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 671: Shackles of Destiny_1

The Darkness aimed its long-range weapon at the middle-aged woman, who, heart skipping a beat, came to an abrupt realization of the closeness of death. She stopped crying and fussing altogether, causing the aura of the scene to heighten with tension. It was not a show, they were truly prepared to shoot.

No one knew if they would really shoot, and the orders acquired by the Black Blade were to temporarily hold fire and wait for three minutes.

The Federation would never allow the Darkness to aim at an ordinary citizen. The moment the Black Blade raised its gun, immediate suppressive fire from three directions was initiated, calculated beforehand to ensure safe shooting angles that would avoid any innocents in the neighborhood.

Boom boom boom! With six consecutive explosions, the shots were all blocked by the Black Blade. Unfortunately, the intervention of the federal soldiers had no effect, and the monstrous mech and the two heavy, 90-ton V24 tanks vanished in the explosion.

Many people simultaneously closed their eyes and silently prayed. The commander roared into the communicator, "Who gave the order to fire? Provoking this bastard will only lead to greater losses. Remember the principle: if the enemy does not move, we do not move."

A collective wave of fury rose within the crowd. Sometimes men must take action, but the order from above was too stubborn to impart, pushing back all of the soldiers who were preparing to attack. Nonetheless, this was indeed the most logical course.

"You fools. There are no gods in this world, and there will be no Revenge Shadow Rider to continuously save the day," the Black Blade's words cut through the crowd like a knife.

"Mama, will the Shadow Rider come to save us?" Little Ba asked innocently looking at his mother.

"He will." The young mother said in a low voice. She wasn't exactly a fan of the Shadow Rider, but her son had been influenced by his father. Nevertheless, she preferred to tell a beautiful lie.

Little Ba had always believed that the Revenge Shadow Rider was hiding in the shadows, he just wanted confirmation from his mother. With a childlike voice that reached everyone's ears, Little Ba said, "The big bad guy will not win. The Shadow Rider will protect everyone."

A cameraman, adhering to his professional spirit, seized the opportunity to pan the camera between Little Ba and the Black Blade.

"Well said, Little Ba. Uncle supports you," the cameraman said with a forced grin. He was fond of the Revenge Shadow Rider but he didn't quite believe his own words.

"Very well. Since you trust the Revenge Shadow Rider so much, I'll give you three minutes. If the Revenge Shadow Rider doesn't show up in three minutes, you'll see what happens," said the Black Blade, pulling out his lightsaber and pointing it towards the crowd. "Of course, if your soldiers can stop me, they are welcome to try."

He added one last comment that immediately enraged the Icebird civilians. The crowd roared with anger, trying to break through the police barricade, while the government's phones rang non-stop. Where were their well-funded military in this critical moment?

The military department was forced to bear the humiliation in silence. Their super soldiers wouldn't be able to reach in just three minutes. As fast as they were, the distance was far too great. The cunning Saudis had craftily exploited this weakness in a truly venomous move. It was impossible to have super soldiers in every star sector; they had found a loophole to exploit.

Every second was crucial now. In the flowing passage of time, at the filming site, a long-legged woman planned to jump to her death. "Goodbye, Mom. Goodbye, Dad. In my next life, I'll..."

But she was pulled back by the man next door who persuaded her to think it through and believe in the Revenge Shadow Rider. Even if he didn't come, he mentioned how her beauty shouldn't be simply wasted. He half-jokingly suggested she could give him a thrill before deciding to die.

With the loudmouth's non-stop chatter, the girl grudgingly stepped back. If a man like him had courage to strive for the next generation, why should she consider ending her life? She put her hands together and silently prayed to Leung Ching-Yu to give her more courage.

Later, he was praised as a hero and he became a winner in life. But this is a topic for later. At the moment, everyone was worried for those on the floating platform. They had friends and family among those people.

Meanwhile, the closeness of death made people on the floating platform more aware of its inevitability. They tried hard to study the black Mecha...

At first glance, the pitch-black body of Darkness was not noticeable. But upon closer inspection all sorts of details were revealed, particularly to a few teenagers with a penchant for all things fantastical...

True, the mech's body presented a noble and magnificent aesthetic. Overwhelming beauty is perhaps an understated term to use. This creation should exist in the sky, who brought him to earth? If the Mobile Suit was the doodle of God in his leisure time, then its appearance was definitely a result of God's constipation on the seventh day and night, the final product of creation.

The mysterious teenagers could not help but feel a sense of reverence. But wait, how could such a noble creature exist in this boring world, especially on the Icebird, a dull and unproductive planet? Realizing this, the mystery slowly cleared from the teenagers' minds as they began to view Darkness from a more reasonable perspective...
