Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 635: Self-Destruction_1

At this moment, Mengdie was piloting the K51 Phantom Mecha, whereas Sky Shadow was in the Federal main battle model Gun Rider. Despite the stark disparity in performance, Sky Shadow must be commended for his persistence. More impressively, his long-range firepower had suppressed the K51 several times. However, the Gun Rider inherently possessed shorter legs and could not catch up with the speed of the K51. This resulted in their protracted feud, where Sky Shadow was put at a disadvantage every time he let the K51 pull away distance.

Admittedly, Sky Shadow was a patient man. However, this was not a situation that called for wasted time. Every extra second spent in a deadlock with the K51 was unfavorable to him because the K51's long-range artillery gave it an upper hand. Sky Shadow had to retaliate with a faster response each time the K51 initiated a 300-card Overriding shot to stand his ground. Nobody could accurately gauge their actual speed, but it was apparent that Sky Shadow was the one straining. This situation was akin to a bike racing a car. Although the analogy was a tad exaggerated, the disparity between the ordinary Mecha and Phantom Mecha was indeed evident.

At the battlefield, the frequently suppressed Gun Rider was also retaliating during its maneuverings; deploying five consecutive laser counterattacks. Yet, only one met the K51, causing thick black smoke to billow from it. The K51 was indeed in a rough situation.

However, Sky Shadow was worse off. Other than maintaining the integrity of the Gun Rider's body, there was no good position left. The tip of his alloy gun was shaved off by the K51's formidable defense during a brief clash. Sky Shadow was left with no option besides suppressing his adversary with long-range weapons, or disarming his opponent's weapons.

Revenge Shadow Rider had used this tactic before, which turned out quite effective. Sky Shadow, clearly considering the option, pressed his attack on Mengdie while closing the distance swiftly. In the centre of the battlefield, Gun Rider was continuously tumbling and moving while the roar of the engine rang loud. However, each of his attempts to get close to Mengdie was thwarted by her again.

It was evident that Mengdie had figured out Sky Shadow's intentions and continued to suppress him with her long-range weapons.

Seeing as Feng Yi thought Sky Shadow still stood a chance, his choices were correct for any off-topic choices. But considering he was Sky Shadow, the artillery could barely harm Sky Shadow. In addition, not only did he innovate on a minor area and also differed in combat experience, with Sky Shadow having more experience than Mengdie. These two points could basically compensate for the weakness of the Gun Rider.

However, let's not forget that the K51 is a phantom model. Its energy consumption is far greater than that of the Gun Rider, and its complex body hardware is relatively heavier. As a result, the K51 would deplete its energy earlier than the Gun Rider in a deadlock, which would be Sky Shadow's opportunity to retaliate.

The evasive Sky Shadow also seemed to have identified the turning point in the battle; the opponent just couldn't do anything to him. As time passed, he would be invincible. With this in mind, Sky Shadow didn't mind pursuing Mengdie tirelessly, even though he put more effort into defence and evasion than into firepower. Although it seemed like the Gun Rider was in pursuit, the attack wouldn't pose a threat to the K51.

Feng Yi also noticed this. Admittedly, Sky Shadow was terrifyingly intelligent. Despite realizing this, he pretended to attack, fearing the opponent would suspect. He believed that he was relentlessly pursuing and hitting the enemy, when in reality, he was just draining the opponent. Under the condition of not being able to catch up, he was no doubt making the right move.

At this very moment, watching this live broadcast, Raymond was the most unwilling. Sky Shadow could deceive the general public and even Mengdie, but he couldn't hide it from Raymond. Why should he surrender to such a person? The more he thought about it, the more it felt as though a flame of rage was burning in his heart.

After General Heller's urgent report, the Military Department started to take this matter seriously. Raymond was more important to Zana's wealth than Mengdie. Finally, the military department sent him a Heavenly Communication that it was all due to the task requirements. Obedience to the order is a godsend let alone being a super soldier, as it was about the task of the Revenge Shadow Rider, Raymond's mood finally calmed down.

Once again observing the battlefield, Gun Rider's fake suppression was no longer effective. As an opponent, and a surgeon, Mengdie was not dumb. She wanted to find a flaw in Sky Shadow. The model was an advantage, but the trembling close to her could not gain more advantages than risking being disarmed by Sky Shadow. Helpless, she could only re-expand the distance to suppress Sky Shadow.

Such oppression had little effect on Sky Shadow in the first place, and was furthermore disproportionate to their consumption. After suppressing for another 5 minutes, Mengdie changed her tactics again and used close combat. Simultaneously, she realised that her energy was depleting rapidly, forcing her to make another decision.

Seeing K51 coming up to herself, Sky Shadow revealed a gloomy smile. The opponent was unable to bear it after all. Although he didn't wait until the last moment, Sky Shadow was clearly not stupid either. Unfortunately, Mengdie lacked practical battle experience. She had no hope to win in this close combat.

With this thought, the Gun Rider advanced instead of retreating, attempting to disarm the K51 at a closer distance. The two running at high speed drew closer to each other. Just when there was no room to manoeuvre, the K51 finally launched an attack, a thrust that it should not have attacked.

The reason was simple. The two sped and barged towards each other. But it hadn't reached a speed so fast that it couldn't retract its thrust. In other words, this thrust could be taken advantage of by the opponent during the attack, especially since Sky Shadow had eyed K51's high energy lightsaber.

Sky Shadow timed it perfectly and skillfully avoided the lightsaber by controlling his body's momentum.

K51 wanted to turn and change its move and sweep sideways, but Sky Shadow was faster. Before K51 could change its attack, Sky Shadow had locked K51's arm and slid down the arm to the wrist in a blink, twisted, and the K51's lightsaber easily slipped from its hand. It was much simpler than expected.

Gun Rider successfully disarmed its opponent, stunning everyone. The two merged and split and split and merged. In the end they finally embraced. Sky Shadow was entirely focused on the opponent's move and the lightsaber, he did not notice that at this point K51 had blocked half of his body. It was already too late to shake off.

Start! What kind of joke was this? Could it be that this guy wanted to...

Sky Shadow's mind abruptly flashed an unsettling thought; Mengdie wanted to self-destruct. Yes, if he were placed in a situation where he realised he couldn't take down his opponent and his energy would run out first, he would also look for an opportunity to self-destruct. In other words, the lightsaber that was effortlessly obtained was clearly Mengdie's bait. What a sinister person!
