Chapter 401: The War Chariot Borrowing the Road_1

The Bounty Tribe of the Freelancers had signed a one-year contract with the Silver Alliance a few months ago, and business was booming. Strolling into the space terminal of Reno City, you could occasionally spot bounty hunters shuttling about, these warriors all hailing from the far-off Atlan Federation.

The bounty hunters on remote planetary missions could be away for several years at a time, thus offering high-risk rewards that were immeasurable. The capital star Pandora in the Silver Alliance territory was also the first stop for Federation tourists.

Unfortunately, the Silver Alliance citizens were not friendly towards Federation hunters, or rather, towards anyone from outside their own country. As a superpower, they looked down upon outsiders. The superiority attitude ingrained in them had formed many years ago.

In Reno City's old Pudor Street, mercenaries from the Bounty Tribe of Freelancers from Maraca were due to arrive at Spaceport 26 to catch a once-a-month passenger flight to the unexplored outer territory, two days after they arrived on Pandora. That day was today.

Spaceport 26 was located on the Space Expressway in the university town of The Anthem of Praise, where magnetic levitation transit was prohibited. Hence, the warriors decided to hire a taxi here. Unfortunately, they encountered an awkward problem - there were no taxis available around the university town.

Since it was their first time here, the team leader from the Bounty Tribe wasn't familiar with the local customs and practices. They were informed that the University Town of The Anthem of Praise was a super-private institution, and there were no taxis in the vicinity. The school bus basically did not take non-students.

This posed a huge problem as there were no private cars willing to ferry these 50 people, regardless of the price. If they missed the flight departure time, apart from the high ticket prices, they would have to wait another month before there'd be another flight. This would inevitably damage the reputation of the Freelancers' Reward Guild.

The team leader even sent a Heavenly Communication to the local government for help, but the reply was that they did not cater to such requests.

"My friend, could you possibly help?"

"Who.. Who are you...?"

"We are from the Atlan Federation."

"Hmph, I'm busy." The handsome young man named Hunter heard they were foreigners and his expression turned cold. He swaggered onto a land cruiser with a giggling blonde girl in tow.

Regardless of how many good words the team leader said, once they heard the term Federation, no one paid them heed. There were indeed a few kind-hearted female students. A girl who traveled in a QQ vehicle had offered to give them a free ride, but her car simply didn't have enough space to accommodate 50 people.

Since magnetic levitation was prohibited, even standard taxis were reluctant to work here. What was even more irritating was that these reluctant youngsters were all from affluent families with a high level of education. All their cars were top-of-the-range models.

It was in the middle of the day, and many students coming in and out of campus pointed and laughed at these plainly dressed Federation workers. It seemed as if this topic: "How could such lower class people appear around our private university?" was the hot topic of the day.

But Feng Yi didn't consider himself a lower class person. He had just walked out of Spaceport 26. His current goal was to find a way to make money, as his stomach had been empty all morning. He had suddenly realized the importance of money. Fortunately, as a special envoy of the Federation, he had legal right of entry in all countries.

Whatever will be, will be – especially since walking forward often also reveals the path ahead. The Silver Alliance's democratic force wouldn't limit the type of vehicles used, so he boldly drove the Clapping Tiger into the city's school district to find work.

Vroom... With the rumbling of the engine, everyone could certainly hear the incoming TD vehicle from afar.

What was shocking was that this vehicle actually worked as a taxi. On top of the Clapping Tiger, Feng Yi was driving at a safe speed of 130 km/h. He had a grass stalk in his mouth, resembling a grass-eating animal. When he passed by The Anthem of Praise University and saw the team leader waving, he slowly brought the armored vehicle to a stop.

The team leader didn't exactly know what he had been thinking when he decided to hail an armored vehicle. When the vehicle actually stopped, the team leader quickly explained the situation to Feng Yi, mentioning that they'd be fine with the price as long as it wasn't outrageous.

Since he had accidentally run into them, there was no reason not to help. As for the price, it wouldn't be too inflated. Charging a normal fare seemed reasonable. However, carrying 50 people would require the armored vehicle to make several trips. Feng Yi patted the turret and seemed like a pro taxi driver – making it clear that the team needed to swiftly board the vehicle.

Two minutes later, the armored vehicle made a U-turn. With a flash of the thruster flame, the vehicle was instantly on the go.

Being a heavy tank destroyer, the Clapping Tiger was over ten meters long, which was basically longer than the early Ratte Tank. It was comparable to a small nuclear bomb in size and considered terrifying. Observing this slowly entering the city, everyone's eyes were drawn to it.

Oh, my God! It's not a joke, is it? On either side of the street, those self-proclaimed economic powerhouses in their land cruisers had to reckon with this huge vehicle and swerve out of the way. god forbid being run over by it, even a slight bump could reduce civilian vehicles to bits and scraps. Who the hell let this monster into the city?

Being able to ride in such an impressive armored vehicle was indeed one of the greatest experiences in life. Seeing the ferocious beast come roaring swiftly, the jaws of the students on campus dropped to the ground. All the vehicles on the Space Expressway were swerving out of its way.

Just a while ago, a guy named Hunter was in high spirits with his girlfriend; showing off their superiority was a source of happiness. At that moment, their land cruiser was racing at a top safe speed of 300 km/h. Suddenly, a strange object appeared in their rear-view mirror.

At first, Hunter didn't pay it much heed. As time elapsed, he noticed a shadow slowly engulf the vehicle. It was too much of a coincidence. He surprisingly could keep up with them. "Little Beauty, see what's up."

What could be wrong? When Little Beauty heard that, she poked her head out lazily. But when she turned her head, she was completely stunned. The god! No wonder they couldn't see the whole picture in the rearview mirror. It was... It was...

"Hun... Hun... Huh..." Little Beauty started to turn pale. In fact, when she saw that the two cars were less than a meter apart, she was astounded.

At a speed of 300 km/h, and the Clapping Tiger's height of almost 4 meters, the shadow of the vehicle had completely enveloped the Land Cruiser. You can imagine the suspense when you realize your life is hanging by a thread. If Henry should suddenly brake, or if the behind vehicle should accelerate, it could be fatal.

Gradually, a main gun as long as the length of the vehicle's body began to emerge from above the Land Cruiser. Through the sunroof, a red star symbol suddenly appeared in Henry's pupils. Even if Henry's reflexes were slow, he would know something was up. Oh my gosh! He looked back and realized, holy cow!
