Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 375 - On the Verge of Eruption_1

As Carol had stated, Feng Yi indeed yearned for power and had things he wished to protect. However, the burden he bore wasn't just limited to a biological mecha. The inheritance of Carol's will was also part of it. Did he truly have the courage to take away the biological mecha? He constantly questioned himself. At this point, Feng Yi began to waver, but even so, he decided to witness the true face of the biological mecha with his own eyes.

After gently closing the notebook, the central computer's light screen imaging device indicated the location of the biological mecha. The mecha wasn't in the ruins or nearby, but was placed in a mecha experimental base not far from the ruins. It seemed the four mechas found within the ruins were only the failed products of Carol's early years.

Feng Yi looked deeply at the solitary notebook. He seemed to see everything: Carol's triumphant smile each time he succeeded in biology, his loneliness and sadness when he lost a loved one or a friend. The historical silhouettes flashed through his mind one by one, like scenes viewed in quickly passing time. He thought to himself how good it would be if he could share a drink with this aged man. "You dedicated your life to the world, only to wither away silently here. Today, I come to pay homage to you." He then decisively strode away after pouring a pot of wine onto the ground.

Meanwhile, Bruce had been observing Sword Dragon from the darkness for some time. After weighing the pros and cons, he boldly concluded that his guess was correct. The enemy was indeed collecting Light Crystals using the detector he held. Light Crystals were what he had sought all these years wandering the Death Planet. Fortune indeed favors the diligent. Even facing Sword Dragon one-on-one, he was undaunted, not to mention he had five faithful followers who had served him for years. "Haha, success!" he exclaimed.

Due to the distance and the darkness, he could not see clearly what Sword Dragon and Duolin were collecting in the room. But that didn't matter. What mattered was striking at the right moment. In top-level combat, finding an opportunity to strike often spelled the difference between success and failure. Bruce gave a low chuckle.

Bruce ordered the four to follow his command. The remaining two were to distract Duolin. Although he wasn't sure of Duolin's power, one First-Order warrior should be able to hold her off.

Without waiting for Sword Dragon and Duolin to react, the base was suddenly rocked with a thunderous noise. Bruce's surprise attack had abruptly arrived.

The attack was extremely rapid. Ordinary people couldn't have possibly reacted in time. In the blink of an eye, Bruce's rapidly advancing figure had already approached the two. His speed was nearly at its limit.

But who was Duolin? And who was Sword Dragon? They were clearly not ordinary individuals. When collecting the biological mech, they had already set up a defense around the area. Their perceptions of the shifting atmosphere and the slight movements were not something that could be dismissed out of hand. You could say others were unable to perceive such things, but Sword Dragon and Duolin were different. They were aces among ace fighters. Even a large empire could only boast a few who possessed their terrifying strength. Moreover, they had already discerned that the Death Planet was not as simple as they had initially thought during their previous battle with Feng Yi.

Regrettably, while Duolin had marked Feng Yi with a spiritual imprint, she had been unable to find him. Similarly, Feng Yi had also left a spiritual imprint on Duolin. They were both battle-hardened fighters, which was why neither was able to gain an advantage over the other.

Their battle with Feng Yi had alerted them to the possibility of unknown high-level fighters existing on the Death Planet. Therefore, while carrying out their mission, they had been on the lookout for sudden changes. At times, the line between the hunter and the hunted was thin— hunters could become the hunted, and the hunted might turn the tables to become hunters.

As soon as Bruce launched his attack, the two of them reacted. To Bruce's surprise, the first to react was Duolin, who was closest to the base entrance. The advantage of a female's keen perception was on display at that moment. Like a swallow, Duolin had moved the instant she had heard a slight noise. Before Sword Dragon could react, she had already launched a counterattack against Bruce's attack at the last possible moment.

Bruce had not intended to attack Duolin. His attention was completely locked on Sword Dragon during the ambush. Of course, he didn't pay much heed to Duolin. Besides, there were others restraining Duolin. To his surprise, Duolin's reaction was exceptionally quick. Before the ambush team could reach her, she had already taken the first strike.

Bruce stumbled back, while Duolin was sent flying from the impact of Bruce's charged attack. This was an inherent advantage and disadvantage between men and women in top-level combat. Women were generally superior in movement, but Duolin had been completely overwhelmed by Bruce's strength.

By this time, Sword Dragon had also reacted. He was further locating the biological mecha based on the feedback from the biological magnetic field signals.

"Who would have thought that two high-level operatives would be carrying out missions on Death Planet at the same time... Hehehe, what a surprise…" Bruce's hoarse, low voice lent an eerie chill to the situation.

"Who are you, and why did you ambush us?" Sword Dragon asked. Even as he spoke, he was already gathering energy for a powerful attack. Regardless of who the enemy was, he wouldn't let them leave this place alive. The sudden ambush was too unexpected. If possible, he wanted to identify the enemy before attacking.

Bruce sneered, "Who am I? Why did I ambush you? Interesting questions. But do you think I would answer truthfully? Just spare your life. That's enough." He dismissed Duolin's sudden counterattack as a mere fluke. Besides Sword Dragon, Bruce couldn't think of any woman in the Super Empire who could match him. He concluded that her combat effectiveness was at most comparable to one of his men.

With that thought, Bruce didn't hesitate to launch a second attack at Sword Dragon. The reason was simple. If he fought one-on-one with Sword Dragon, he would not have an obvious advantage. However, in a group fight, the outcome would be dramatically different. Regardless of which one of them was taken down first, the balance of victory would quickly tip in his favor. "Hahaha! It's an honor to battle with the renowned leader of the Dragon Soul Knight Legion." Although Bruce said this, he knew in his heart that Sword Dragon had no chance of winning.

Sword Dragon hesitated slightly, then smiled. If the enemy knew his identity, he wasn't a common fighter. Surprisingly, the enemy had overlooked Duolin. There couldn't possibly be an organization that had six high-level fighters of the same rank. In other words, the five fighters with Bruce didn't possess enough power to be a significant threat to them.

Hearing this, Sword Dragon also laughed. "Are you confident?"

"Confidence is not gained by talking. You'll know once we try. Lin, let's suppress him together."

"As you wish."

In the span of their conversation, the two had already attacked Bruce simultaneously. A moment after clashing, Bruce experienced a sudden increase in pressure. Could it be...
