Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 318: Shock But No Danger_1

A few days later, on a weekend, the trio decided to embark a smuggling shuttle to leave Maracan's Freedom Port. The shuttle was incredibly old and had only one tier. Inside, it was in an appalling state. Aside from seats in the cockpit, the rest of the passengers had to sleep on the floor.

As soon as you step onto the shuttle, menacing glares stalk you from all sides. This is undoubtedly the main challenge for smugglers.

Armed guards inside the shuttle were present merely to maintain the safety of the pilots, turning blind eyes to whatever occurred outside. Some seasoned smugglers would bribe the guards for protection.

In a realm where survival of the fittest ruled, law and order no longer worked. Laws were made for the weak, but held little power over the strong. Feng Yi onboard the shuttle clearly belonged to the latter. Despite Gomez's era succumbing to the test of time, his ambition would not come to a halt.

Rowdy men cast furtive glances at Zi Mou and Angelina. But none dared harbor any vulgar thoughts. After all, Feng Yi's aura, brimming with a murderous intention, had already induced fear amongst most passengers. Anybody daring to be on this shuttle surely had some wits about them—though, not all recognized him. Those who did, were aware of his dressing and decorum, and knew him as Gomez's top enforcer. Anyone brazen enough to lay a hand on Feng Yi's women would be digging their own grave.

There was a shudder. The roar of the engine, all the more harsh in the lousy shuttle, gradually subsided as the shuttle ventured into outer space.

After two days, the once docile passengers began to show their true colors—monstrous fangs.

Though the area around Feng Yi remained quiet, elsewhere within the shuttle, tragic scenes were continuously unfolding—robbery, abduction, theft. Many enslaved people were forcefully bought out at dirt-cheap prices before reaching their destination. Then they would be dragged away to an unnoticed corner where they would be violated. Others would be threatened with knives against their throat—clearly stating, you either comply, or face the consequences.

Anna was horrified, unable to cope with the shocking brutality. Yet her sister, Zi'er, remained composed, seemingly unfazed by the mayhem, even occasionally comforting Anna.

As the shadow's sister, if she couldn't handle this, she might as well forget about getting any further. On the other hand, Feng Yi remained silent. He spoke coldly, his body was ice-cold, his blade was chilly, and he himself was frosty, yet he was far from being the walking dead. At least when he gazed at Zi'er, a fleeting warmth would come over his eyes.

Of course, whenever she met Feng Yi's gaze, Zi'er would give a warm, pure-hearted smile. But when she faced others, her smile appeared to be a mere courteous gesture, along with a hint of contempt—it was now clear she wasn't an easy person to handle either. The people around them seemed to categorize them by a few distinct labels.

Two sharp-eyed men had been observing Feng Yi, Zi'er, and Anna carefully over two days, especially the relationship between him and the others. From the dialogue, they managed to figure out that one of their names was Zi'er and the other, Anna. If they could somehow use them...

When Anna and Zi'er went to freshen up, the two men discreetly approached Feng Yi, offered him a smoke, and started a conversation. However, before they could finish, Zi'er's voice rang out, "Bro, who are these two?"

"I don't know," Feng Yi replied tersely.

"They're annoying," Zi'er frowned, giving the men a cold glance.

Hearing her words, Feng Yi's gaze turned frosty. The two men hurriedly used lighting their cigarette as an excuse to apologize and said they wouldn't bother them again. Only then did Zi'er nod, her eyes filled with subtle mockery.

"Shadow ", a ruthless killer with a dark heart and no brains. While they didn't know why he left the Freedom Port of Maraca, despite Gomez's downfall, he quickly fell under the spell of a woman, Zi'er. They had planned to form a closer relationship, not knowing that Zi'er wasn't a saint either. At least judging from the demeanor, they claimed to be siblings, but their relationship was anything but simple.

Suddenly, the shuttle rocked violently. The weightlessness sent people flying, and they could clearly feel the inertia from the sudden burst of accelerative force.

An announcement promptly came on the speaker: A cluster of pirate ships detected two astronomical units away in the asteroid belt, so they were increasing the speed for a swift escape. They instructed all passengers to brace themselves. Not long after, a virtual projection image appeared before everyone's eyes.

Normally, a smuggling shuttle wouldn't broadcast such a message before acceleration. However, in a smuggling shuttle, sudden acceleration could lead to widespread discontent among the vicious outlaws on board, leading to unprecedented chaos.

In the context of geographical coordinates, the presence of space pirates in the surrounding area wasn't high. Yet this group was quite large—likely the infamous Sundown Bandits—requiring an urgent increase in speed.

Sundown Bandits were notorious for looting both humans and resources. As everyone knew, space pirates would typically engage in thieving and let the crew live. The reason was simple—it was about sustaining a supply chain—no one wanted to drain a pond to fish.

However, the Sundown Bandits were different. They are like wolves in the jungle, killer whales in the sea, prowling the Northern Galaxy. They were infamous butchers, notorious for plundering all sorts of business groups. They avoided restricted sovereign galaxies but fearlessly entered the neutral space territories. Several reports had even stated that they had come close to the Big Macs constellation of the Federation.

What startled Feng Yi was not the pirates, rather, it was how to protect Zi'er and Anna. The mission was straightforward—ensure their safety until they reached their destination and leave at the right time. The problem was, while Feng Yi could handle seizing a pirate shuttle with deft skill, he couldn't pilot the shuttle. Even with Eggy at the controls, it would be impossible to handle the rogue pirates attacking from all corners. If detected and apprehended by space pirates, the chances of survival would be less than 10%.

Fortunately, the acceleration didn't draw the attention of the Sundown Bandits. The shuttle left behind a streak of white light and vanished into the vast starry seas in an instant. The shuttle's unassuming size was its saving grace, making it easily go undetected amidst the larger targets that the Sundown Bandits were scanning for.

The joy of the narrow escape from death ignited a wave of cheer through the gloomy shuttle. People hugged and laughed, their feelings of elation evident on their faces. Some even stripped and expressed their relief in bouts of lovemaking.

Even Zi Mou and Angelina could not hide their excitement. They certainly hadn't anticipated encountering space pirates in such a place.
