Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 315: Auction_1

However, with a lot of effort, Yu Xin managed to contact Revenge Shadow Rider the next day. Actually, she contacted the Rose Guild, and a member with the ID 'Beat up the Nursery, Kick the Kindergarten' agreed to reach out on her behalf. They claimed Revenge Shadow Rider was their friend. Only after Eggy presented ample proof did Yu Xin truly believe him.

Once news of the auction was broadcast, it couldn't be changed. Yu Xin could only maximize the value—how about getting an autograph from Shadow Rider for the items up for bid?

She didn't get the autograph after all. Feng Yi said that the Revenge Shadow Rider could agree to a live Q&A session instead. It wasn't him being stingy in not agreeing to autograph—anonymity was crucial in his case. If his identity leaked, his peaceful life would be over.

On the day of the auction, Yu Xin was anxious and restless with nerves… She hardly slept that night, filled with agitation. However, she felt there was something off about the situation. The member named 'Beat Up the Nursery, Kick the Kindergarten' even requested autographed photos after communicating with her. It was hard to imagine such an imposing figure like the Revenge Shadow Rider associating with such a sleazy character—this was the root of Yu Xin's anxiety.

Waiting was an awfully tormenting process. As the auction's publicity had already been announced overnight, time would tell how the rest would proceed. There were five auction items from Revenge Shadow Rider alone. Although they may not be of significant monetary value, they held remarkable symbolic worth.

The problem that had been plaguing her soon surfaced. By the next morning, the auction house was still as deserted as usual. There were endless sellers, but not a single buyer, a situation vastly different from her expectations.

At this point, it was widely known that Shadow Rider had been involved in a battle with the Tyrant Guild. However, not many players were familiar with Happy Auction House. The advertisement aroused discussion among a small number of players, but only to a limited extent.

Yu Xin's gamble could be described as an all-or-nothing one. If she won, it would be a huge victory, but if she lost, she might end up losing all her savings and reputation within her company.

There are seldom second chances in life. There's undoubtedly regret in a missed opportunity. While seizing opportunities is important, sometimes, things that seem easily within reach can be a double-edged sword—successful attempts can yield surprisingly good outcomes, but unsuccessful ones can be just as damaging.

It was precisely because Yu Xin believed in the power of Shadow Rider's reputation that she confidently wagered everything on this auction. If all went well, not only would Happy Auction House gain fame, it could also have far-reaching impacts on its future.

However, until eight in the morning, only a few aimless players arrived. There wasn't a single VIP, let alone a reaction from one of the top ten guilds. The situation was a stark contrast from her expectations, and Yu Xin was breaking out in a cold sweat.

When the invitation was issued, Yu Xin had made a special point to mention that there would be VIP seats reserved for the top 10 guilds. Now, forget the VIP area—the seats in the general area were barely filled. By noon, even the players initially fighting for seats had lost interest and left Happy Auction House. Besides a few ally guild members like Bean Corps from the Rose Guild who came to show support, there was barely anyone at the venue.

The auction was set to open promptly at 2 p.m. Sparse groups of players only began to trickle in by noon. The turnout was appalling—not just for Revenge Shadow Rider, even a third-rate public figure would attract more attendees. Happy Auction House had never hosted any public figures since it was established, hence Yu Xin could only guess at the situation.

Finally, at 1 p.m., there was a noticeable increase in the crowd gathering at the auction house. Although the turnout was the highest it had ever been at Happy Auction House, they were all regular players. There was no involvement from heavyweights or guilds, a far cry from what Yu Xin had imagined.

At this rate, the auction house wouldn't even be filled by 2 p.m. the next day. Yu Xin comforted herself that the auction had yet to officially start. Only when the time approached 1:30 p.m., and more people appeared, did color return to her pale face and she felt slightly reassured by the turnout.

Although there were only a handful of people when the auction house opened, 15 minutes before the auction was due to start, the auction house was packed. This crowd was beyond anything Happy Auction House could have ever imagined.

As time passed, a transient smile crossed Yu Xin's face. In a span of just five minutes, a sudden influx of people filled up Happy Auction House. Additional players could only participate in the auction via live streaming. At this point, two leaders of the top ten guilds had already seated themselves in the VIP area. The stark contrast in the scene was so shocking to Yu Xin that she could hardly believe it. After all, there were still ten minutes to go before the start of the auction.

"Guild leader Yu Xin, the live auction streaming line has been overloaded."

"What—add temporary lines immediately." Yu Xin's voice shook with excitement. Her gamble was working. If even the items from Revenge Shadow Rider were unpopular then who in the world could claim to be popular?
