Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 269: Shocking the World with Storm Falling Blade_1

Unexpectedly, Shirley's response was surprisingly straightforward, catching Feng Yi completely off guard. The rest of the auction proceeded smoothly, culminating in a satisfactory conclusion within 20 minutes.

Samantha's rebellious predicament was worrisome, while Shirley opted to cooperate and compromise. In simplistic terms, she was dealing with debt. The stark contrast between their situations likely conveyed to anyone with a brain what position they were in and which actions they should take. Should they cooperate, or demand detainment?

Eventually, all the bosses, with the exception of Shirley, were detained, although the methods varied: Triangular Star's Samantha owed 12 million Federal Coins; Sel, the representative of Two-Pointed Star, owed 8 million; Gomez owed 2 million, and Shirley owed 6 million.

No one had anticipated such a turn of events. Because everyone was short of funds, compared to other forces, Shirley's Five-Pointed Star was rather generous. The total cost of auction items was 15 million, and she easily forked out 9 million without batting an eye. As a result, Feng Yi gave Shirley her freedom, while the others weren't as fortunate.

The public was not aware of the sisterly relationship between Shirley and Samantha. Though they addressed each other formally, they were of the same bloodline. That's why she could afford to allot the funds so easily, while the others couldn't.

And yet, even Shirley, who was usually unfazed, noticed her face heating up slightly. While the amount involved was a hefty sum for the four major forces, it wasn't beyond their capabilities. Yet, to their dismay, they ended up in a predicament where they couldn't afford to pay their debts.

Who would have thought that the four overseers would fall to the level of seeking compensation? The reality was indisputable—how outrageous! Feng Yi had practically resorted to human trafficking.

Even after the auction, the crowd in the square was reluctant to disperse. Feng Yi took the money but was aware that things weren't over yet. If anything, they were just getting started. What came next was likely a showdown with the leading figures. He was not the type to drag matters out. The sooner they were resolved, the better.

The ones who hadn't left yet were Shirley and other representatives of the forces. The Black-clothed Soldier shouldn't have provoked the four major forces unnecessarily. If the matter wasn't resolved, the money given would have to be returned in full.

The square was bustling with a steady flow of people coming and going.

Feng Yi was drinking alone. Suddenly, he paused. "They're here then..." he murmured.

A shadow mysteriously appeared on top of a building in the square. While the presence was nearly imperceptible, it hadn't escaped Feng Yi's notice.

He glanced casually at the high-rise building. His sight was unobstructed by the emptiness, and his eyes met those of the figure. Feng Yi paused momentarily before carrying on with his drink, seemingly nonchalant about the situation.

The proxies of the Five Overseers who were present felt their hearts sink. This man was far too confident for someone who was alone. Either he had hidden cards up his sleeve or he was bluffing.

300 seconds ticked away. Another figure emerged from another corner of the square — a seductive lady dressed in black leather pants and a red vest. Judging by her figure, she seemed to be young. Feng Yi could even make out her perfect facial structure, hidden underneath a mask. The lady was wearing high heels, and if this was the supposed red overseer, her combat abilities might be compromised. It seemed as if she planned to battle in high heels.

One by one, more figures emerged, until the fourth arrived. Feng Yi put his drink away, drew his combat knife, and prepared for a fight. One versus four. What were his chances of winning?

"It seems we've come full circle," a melodious voice resonated through the crowded square. The voice was soft, feminine, and despite its low intensity, it reached everyone present, piercing their hearts like an psychic wave.

Seeing this, Feng Yi's hand gripping his combat knife began to tremble. He scoffed, "Talking big, huh? I won us the war against the three overseers, but when the land was divided, I was left out. Who was it that recklessly plunged into the Triangular Star, causing harm and fatalities among the original inhabitants? It seems you hold the federation in little regard."

Feng Yi's bold retaliation instantly caused an uproar amongst the crowd. Emotions ran high. The Black-cloaked Soldier had mentioned the federation. Could his true identity be a subordinate of it? No wonder he was so insistent on safeguarding its interests during the auction.

When Feng Yi mentioned the casualties, several cries broke out on the scene. Yesterday, the four forces had indeed blatantly wreaked havoc on the Triangular Star, causing numerous deaths and injuries. All of these were facts. Some relatives of the victims were present at the scene, having come with resentment after hearing about the Black-clothed Soldier's extortion. They had dared not speak up, but hadn't expected the Black-clothed Soldier to actually be on their side.

Feng Yi did not consider himself morally superior to anyone else. As a soldier of the federation, he had mysteriously been awarded the Hero Medal. He felt he should face all his obligations head-on.

Even though the cheap Hero Medal held strong political significance, it was unrelated to ordinary people. Of course, he never saw himself as a hero — that claim was nonsense. Compared to the soldiers who stained the battlefield with their blood, he was nothing. Even so, Feng Yi intended to continue fighting for the people in his own way. Yes, the unlimited autonomy granted to him by Atland was the greatest acknowledgment of his efforts, since everything he gained from the hero privilege to the transformer had been built on the people's sweat and blood. If a soldier didn't carry this responsibility, they simply weren't a soldier.

"We don't need to waste time on him. Let's kill him," a cold voice echoed across the square.

"Well said," Feng Yi sneered. Since a battle was inevitable, he saw no reason not to take the initiative. He'd used one hidden card against Gomez; what was the harm in revealing one more? Just like the saying, 'A hunter can roam the world, to bring a sharp edge to gentleness. The one who walks alone leaves everyone else behind. Once the Storm Falling Blade appears, everyone trembles.'

Feng Yi suddenly flicked his wrist, tossing his combat knife into the air in a not-so-elegant manner. As the knife hung still in the air momentarily, Feng Yi spun around incredibly quickly, completing a full circle. He caught his knife, used his power, and swung his arm forcefully at the void. "Watch out for my blade!"

Swish...

As his words trailed off, the sharp blade flew forward, tearing through the air with a chilling sound. It cut through the void, leaving behind a brilliant streak of light. It moved as swiftly as lightning with an unbeatable speed!

The moment the knife left Feng Yi's hand, a tornado appeared around him, revealing the power behind that attack!

Pat, one of the five overseers, had his heart pierced on the spot. His body, devoid of all strength, plummeted from the sky. He died instantly upon hitting the ground.

Even the remaining overseers could only catch a glimpse of a lingering image. The attack was too fast. If it had to be described in words, it felt like it was impossible to dodge.
