Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 234 Courage_2

The Revenge Shadow Rider had initially prepared to strike from its position, but was momentarily stunned when its opponent unexpectedly avoided the charge.

In the cockpit, Dovir had fallen into an inextricable confusion. No! This shouldn't be the case. How had his speed suddenly slowed down? Just now, wasn't he easily overpowering the Revenge Shadow Rider? In that state, he felt as if he was one with the Mecha. But now, piloting the Six-winger Angel felt extraordinarily heavy, as if he had been driving a clunky piece of metal all along.

This couldn't be! The only thing in Dovir's eyes now was the Shadow Rider. He fired a shot at it only for it to change direction dramatically and leap skyward. The Revenge Shadow Rider standing quietly on the ground looked full of vulnerabilities but at the same time felt like a trap. Dovir momentarily felt helpless and at a loss for what to do.

The stationary Revenge Shadow Rider suddenly let out a barely audible sigh through its speaker and shook its head. The movement and sound were not drastic, but they still made their way into the ears of the spectators.

The unexpected move left the audience puzzled until Sky Shadow explained, laughing as he stated that the Revenge Shadow Rider must feel very disappointed at the moment. This, he said, was understandable. After that anomaly, Dovir wasn't able to defeat Shadow Rider right away, and given that Dovir was now back to normal, there was certainly some internal crumbling.

In fact, the higher the genius goes, the more they fear to fall, and the key is being able to stand up again from where they've fallen.

At this point, Dovir's mind was a mess. He couldn't find any weaknesses in his opponent. He even wondered if his opponent was deliberately waiting for him to pick up his lightsaber to infuriate him. This possibility was not unlikely.

It was a shambles. He didn't know how to launch a second attack. This was completely different from his planned outcome of the fight.

That's right, the Phantom Knight 0001's heavy frame couldn't catch up with the speed of the Six-winged Angel. A gleam of joy flashed across Dovir's face as if he was clutching at straws. His Mecha kept twisting and turning in mid-air, constantly darting past the Shadow Rider.

"Revenge Shadow Rider, can you keep up with my speed? Haha, hahaha..."

The audience was at a loss. This wasn't the Dovir they had been accustomed to. Although he had not tasted the bitterness of failure, facing the formidable Revenge Shadow Rider was a certain degree of blow. But at least for now, Dovir hadn't truly failed. He still had the strength to fight. Ironically, the group of players supporting the Revenge Shadow Rider now felt a bit of sympathy for Dovir.

It is well known that the Revenge Shadow Rider is prone to impatience. There were only two kinds of people who could make him wait. The first type were warriors who never compromise despite repeated failures. The second type possessed endless offensive maneuvers. Clearly, Dovir had exhausted his techniques.

After standing still and waiting for dozens of seconds, Feng Yi decided to end this pointless battle as soon as possible. In fact, he liked to fight and yearned for it but when he stepped onto the Big Macs battlefield, he knew that there were some things he had to let go of. Rather than calling today's online battle a fight, it could be better described as a small insignificant gift he gave to that brave warrior.

Dovir's potential was limitless, and there had been talks about him being the most promising talent of the younger generation. If possible, Feng Yi didn't want Dovir to lose his fighting spirit because of this battle.

Looking at the Six-wing Angel zigzagging around him in mid-air, the stationary Revenge Shadow Rider made a lightning-fast move. In an instant, its strong five fingers gripped the Six-winged Angel as it brushed past. There was no clumsiness to be found in the frame of the Phantom Knight 0001.

Due to the considerable difference in power, the strong propulsion of the Six-winged Angel did not manage to shake off the Revenge Shadow Rider. As if catching a chicken, the Revenge Shadow Rider held the Six-winged Angel in place and thoroughly attacked Dovir.

Dovir had not expected to be captured by the Revenge Shadow Rider. He attempted to be airborne but was brought down by a strike from the Revenge Shadow Rider. As dust flew into the air, the Revenge Shadow Rider initiated an indiscriminate attack on the Six-winged Angel, sliding across the ground. No matter how Dovir tried to block, he could not free himself from the Alloy Blade which seemed stuck to his lightsaber. The Six-winged Angel kept reeling backwards.

"So weak. A genius who doesn't have the courage to face failure is nothing but empty fame."

The whole arena was in uproar ... the normally close-mouthed Revenge Shadow Rider had actually spoken up during the fight. This tone was not one of mockery or criticism, but rather of disappointment akin to blaming someone for not living up to their potential.

"That's not how you use the Phantom Double Sword Strike". Even as he spoke, the Revenge Shadow Rider made an attack identical to Dovir's previous one. An exciting display unfolded on the screen as the Alloy Blade split into two, relentlessly attacking the Six-winged Angel. One strike, ten strikes, eighty strikes ... the attacks from the Revenge Shadow Rider went on like waves, never ceasing...

There it was, the long-lost Phantom Double Sword Strike, a technique that had been partially lost over the years. Even though some of the movements were still passed down among the common people, the true essence of it had been lost. Even his grandfather could only manifest the phantom shadow during the eighteenth combo attack. Now, however, the Revenge Shadow Rider has executed the technique with a dual-blade flow in his first move.

Dovir was utterly shocked, overtaking his initial astonishment. Why would the Revenge Shadow Rider know the Phantom Double Sword Strike?

In truth, utilizing the Phantom Double Sword Strike was not strenuous for Feng Yi because the original form of his combat methods had already incorporated Huaxia Ancient Martial Arts into the modern military combat systems. The Phantom Dual Swords was a direct extension of the Huaxia Ancient Martial Arts. Common saying goes "the diverse martial arts originate from Huaxia", forever rooted in its orthodoxy. Feng Yi, as the genuine successor of the storm, wouldn't struggle with these variable and unpredictable branches once he grasped their essence.

Clang, clang, clang, clang...

The Six-winged Angel was forced to retreat, but the target of the Revenge Shadow Rider was only the lightsaber in the Six-winged Angel's hand, not the Mecha itself. Dovir understood that he must withstand the attack because there may not be a second chance to encounter the Shadow Rider.

At that moment, the only sound remaining on the smoky battlefield was the constant metallic resonance.

At the hundredth attack, Dovir felt his chest churning and his vision blurred. If this were reality, he would have spat out blood without doubt. Now, he had completely forgotten about victory or defeat, he could only focus on defending against the Shadow Rider's onslaught. Dovir was aware that he couldn't block the Shadow Rider's attack, but since the Shadow Rider's main target was not the Mecha itself, he just managed to withstand it.

One hundred and ten attacks, one hundred and twenty attacks... Right up till the final ten moves where the Revenge Shadow Rider no longer held back. In the visual display, his two alpha alloy war knives suddenly became three. With a sweeping onslaught that was like breaking decayed wood, the Six-winged Angel could no longer resist. Its fragmented body, slashed into various parts by the Shadow Rider's alloy knives, exploded in the end.

Even though Sky Shadow's expression was calm, his fists were already clenched in secret! The Revenge Shadow Rider was terrifyingly strong - with this level of skill, even he doubted his chances of winning against him.

The duel ended. Both contestants were transported instantly to the arena.

The arena was silent at that moment. The Six-winged Angel's completely shattered Mecha had been fully restored. Dovir hastily jumped out of the Mecha cockpit, his eyes sparkling with excited, tearful joy. He was speechless, expressing his gratitude, it was as if the Shadow Rider's onslaught was less about suppressive offence and more like a lesson.

"Thank... Thank you, Revenge Shadow Rider! That's the last few moves..."

"You still have a long way to grow. You have to find the answer yourself." Revenge Shadow Rider was not one for chitchat and clearly didn't like discussing the answer.

"If it's possible, I... I want to fight with you again someday. Please..."

"I won't fight with you again."

"Why?" Dovir was bewildered.

Everyone knew that Revenge Shadow Rider was a warrior who thirsted for battles. There were many people – including those in the arena – who found his statement to "never fight again" confusing. Shadow Rider was not the type to fear battles.

He said, "Failure is not scary. Being a mecha warrior takes courage to face defeat." With these few casual words, the Revenge Shadow Rider's ID gradually dimmed.

Indeed, this was the Revenge Shadow Rider's characteristic. A warrior who even lacked the courage to face defeat, what right did he have to challenge Revenge Shadow Rider? Sometimes, Revenge Shadow Rider could be seen as aloof. He would fight with a rookie for a long long time, but wouldn't fight a formidable opponent twice. This was the charm of Revenge Shadow Rider's personality.
