Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 1153: Entering Alternate Space

Allen didn't know how he survived those two minutes. Two minutes may seem short, but for an extreme operator, it's incredibly long and torturous. This lengthiness isn't about game control; Allen had to maintain his stance without moving and think about his combo changes for the moment the pause time ended.

Of course, this is just one aspect. After all, two minutes are very torturous for his current state, but not unbearable. The most unpredictable thing for Allen was that Feng Yi's treacherous moves were endless, countless, and as numerous as cattle, ever-changing, leaving you unable to predict when he might press the start button next.

Allen would never pin hope on waiting until the 59th second. Suffering leads to learning, and he had already suffered twice in silence. He knew well that Feng Yi might press start at the point when he waited the longest, or perhaps a second earlier, like at the 58th second, or even less time.

Once you have an expectation, although your muscles and nerves are still tense, your mind will relax, and if Feng Yi catches this flaw, then the two-minute wait would be in vain.

The cunning and deceit of humans is indeed the tricky part. Although Feng Yi's character is considered good among humans, he's sly when he needs to be.

Evidently, at this moment, Feng Yi seemed to have guessed that Allen was predicting his thoughts, so he waited for a minute, pressing the start button only at the last moment.

After all, he was merely timing it to make his opponent uncomfortable, entirely relying on Allen's extreme operations. If Allen was on guard, pressing a second earlier or later would not be significantly beneficial; instead, it would reduce his own operational time, making it not worthwhile. It was better to extend the time to the maximum.

Meanwhile, Allen finally exhaled a big breath. The two minutes had finally ended after a prolonged wait. Just as the game's pause timer reached 59 seconds, Allen precisely continued his earlier jump, right before Feng Yi pressed pause, following it with a powerful aerial kick to Baozi's face.

This kick seemed fueled by rage, the health points lost almost matching the damage from two of Baozi's energy waves.

After aerial combat, during the landing moment, every character can follow up with combos. Although the fat character had a large build and slow moves, he could still use combo techniques. However, compared to ordinary characters, the fat character's moves were somewhat limited.

This so-called limitation doesn't mean he causes less damage. On the contrary, due to the fat character's slow actions and bulky physique, every hit might knock the opponent back, so his combos usually only consist of 2-3 hits.

Other characters don't have this issue. For example, with the character Baozi, used by Feng Yi, Baozi can approach quickly and follow up with two light attacks, then a close-range grab.

This close-range grab can't knock the opponent down, but it can put them in a brief stun state. During this time, Baozi can once again rush in and repeat the skill, making up to six combo moves. Finally, he can connect a finisher, making it a total of a seven-hit combo.

Despite Baozi's combo attack frequency being moderate, this already indicates that the fat character isn't impressive in combo techniques.

However, the lack of impressive combos doesn't mean he deals less damage. In contrast, the fat character's combos, while slow in frequency, are powerful. For instance, the jump kick to the face nearly matched the damage dealt by two of Baozi's energy waves while he couldn't defend.

But it wasn't over yet. After launching and landing the aerial move, the fat character followed up on the ground with another light attack, a light kick.

"Ah! My knee!"

Feng Yi exclaimed, thinking it was bad news. It was the second time the fatty had hit his knee, especially remembering how his knee was fiercely kicked during the first match against the fatty.

Indeed, getting hit by a light kick from the fatty wasn't enough to panic Feng Yi. Although the fatty's light kick dealt slightly more damage than regular characters, it was secondary. Usually, after being hit by the fatty's light attack, the character had three possible follow-ups.

The first possible follow-up would be using a grab skill after the fatty's light kick hits Feng Yi, performing consecutive body slams on the ground. The advantage of this move is knocking down and flying the opponent for an easier follow-up strike, but it consumes a lot of time. This means, with little time remaining in the countdown, the slamming might still be ongoing when the time runs out, leaving the unspent health points unaffected.

Thus, while this usual move drains the most health and facilitates the follow-up, the time consumption becomes a downside.

The second type of combo move is a ground slide: typical characters slide with a foot attack, but not the fat character. His ground slide is performed with his abdomen on the ground, sliding forward a distance using a hammer to attack the enemy. Although not dealing a lot of health damage, it does provide a knockdown notice.
