Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 170: 170

Amelia had never tasted barbeque before, and the shocking explosion of flavors was a sensation she had never experienced. As if savoring every mouthful was not enough, she began to wolf down her food. It was absolutely delicious and she could not hold back.

"Don't rush, nobody's competing." Feng Yi couldn't resist a chuckle at her enthusiasm, shaking his head.

"Don't you dare laugh." Milly tried to sound angry, but her adorable pout only made her burst into laughter. As her eyes drifted to the neatly stacked skewers on the table, her face turned crimson all the way to her neck.

Lucky for Milly, Feng Yi was quick. With no change in his expression, he moved the skewers to his side of the table. Shrugging, he claimed, "These are mine." And poured himself a big drink.

"Oh Feng, you certainly know how to win a girl's heart, don't you?"

"Is that so? Let's eat up before the food goes cold."

"Alright."

Milly obeyed like a good girl, and it wasn't before long that a few new skewers mysteriously appeared on the table. Her time with Feng Yi always left her comfortably exhilarated, a feeling she never experienced with other men before. His character for her was like a crystal blue lake, clear and beautiful, and she enjoyed the feeling of being at ease. She always did, she always...

Soon, Milly put down her skewer, patting her stomach half-jokingly. "I'm so full, I must've gained 50 kilos. You are to blame for this."

"Spare me, Senior Sister from the Martial Arts Hall, I wouldn't dare to aspire so high."

"Heehee, I was just kidding." Emily attempted to say something but faltered, gesturing with her hand, "um…"

"You know me, Emily. Just speak your mind."

"Well, it's nothing much. I just wanted to know if you plan on staying with Wind Thunder."

"Yes, I do."

"The front lines can be quite dangerous. You could possibly lose your life. Have you considered switching military academies?"

"Switch academies?" His confusion was clear. He didn't see any reason Milly would concern herself with him from this perspective. He had always known his place and had never once considered switching.

"I've got a friend in Yingland who can pull some strings. If you have any thoughts of transferring, I'd prefer— In fact, I'd prefer it if you switched over to another military academy, any academy."

It was too soon in their relationship for such personal requests. Feng Yi did not understand her intention. Was this a sign of friendship? Screw friendship, "Thanks, but I don't get what you're trying to say."

The air between them had suddenly gotten much colder. Emily stopped avoiding his gaze, looking straight at him. "Do you care a lot about Wind Thunder?"

"Doesn't matter if it's Wind Thunder or not. I don't want to run away from my choices. That's it."

"No matter what?"

"Yes."

"Hmph, so that's how it is. I see."

"Hey, are you... okay?"

Milly gently shook her head, her hair swaying with the wind. "Just a bit... Feng, I'll take my leave."

At the Gallia Seven Star Club, when Emily returned, groups of elite students from various schools had become quite familiar with each other. Time can change a great deal, including the atmosphere of a room.

"Senior, you don't look too well. Do you need to rest?" a student union member from Yingland asked with obvious worry.

"Thanks, but I just need some time alone. Please, you don't need to follow me."

"Alright."

Back in her room and the door locked securely behind her, Emily kicked off her princess shoes and lay sprawled across the soft bed, reminiscing about every moment with Feng Yi…

The agreement they had made was something she would never forget. It was a regret she could never go back to. From that moment, she had fallen hard for him. And now, she didn't have the courage to face him as Xiao Ai. The man she missed had long forgotten her. Despite all this, she could not bear the thought of him being sent to the battlefield through Wind Thunder.

She thought having martial arts training would help her let go of her sorrow, but she knew deep down that she would never forget him. She just didn't want to admit it. Yet she didn't have the courage to face it.

She'd known all along she couldn't keep him from going to Wind Thunder. But maybe he would stay if she went back to Yingland and became a completely different person?

The City of Sky was bathed in soft moonlight by the time Feng Yi got back to the Gallia Club. It was late and he decided to log onto Star Wars to familiarize himself with the controls. He could not afford to underestimate any opponent. This military engagement would be a real mecha fight, one that could potentially kill him. It was a stark reality of warfare.

He was not sure what model of mecha he would be using. The selection would be randomized, which was the major concern for every academy. Every fighter has strengths and weaknesses, and using an unfamiliar model might limit performance. Therefore, Feng Yi planned to rent out a few mecha and try out every single model anonymously.

Thud, thud, thud... The sudden knocking on the door interrupted him. He asked who it was, and upon not receiving a response, hastily unplugged his computer. He could not allow anyone to know his identity as the Revenge Shadow Rider. That would mean an end to his peaceful life.

As the door slowly opened and he saw who it was, Feng felt stunned. He couldn't help his surprise – Emily was standing there. Despite being taken aback by her exquisite beauty, he was perplexed as to why she had come looking for him at this hour. There was no professional or personal reason for her to do so. Had she entered the wrong room?

"You're looking for someone?"

"Yes."

Feng Yi looked around the room. "It's just the two of us in this room."

Emily didn't respond to Feng Yi. Instead, she stared at him with a mischievous smile on her face. For once, Feng Yi was quite taken aback. Being stared at by such a beautiful woman would make any man squirm.

"Hello, you."

"Um... I'm good." Feng Yi was most definitely puzzled.

"Are you Feng Yi?"

"Yes." Feng Yi did not bother trying to hide anything. Despite not understanding her intentions, he knew there was no hiding anything from this group of elite soldiers.

Emily approached Feng Yi and got face to face with him. Her glistening eyes and the fluttering of her hair created a magnetic effect. Feng Yi was aware of the faint scent of her breath on his cheek. It seemed sweet and moist and the whispers in his ear made her sound like a tempting demon. "I know a secret about you."

"You're too close."

Feng Yi narrowed his eyes, making no attempt to continue the conversation. He found it hard to believe that the high and mighty Emily from Yingland Royal Military Academy, known for being cold and aloof, would go so far as to flirt with him.
