Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 1102: A New Starting Point_2

"Huh? Plans?" Zhang Xiaobo was completely baffled by Blade Warrior's question.

"Mhm, like when the two of you plan to get married? I'm already impatient waiting for the announcement."

"That's hard to say, but I guess it'll be within a year?"

"I see. Well, don't forget to let me know when it happens."

"Haha, what about you? Back then, we were comrades crossing dimensions together. Do you have any future plans?"

"I'm not thinking about that for now. The bizarre situation is one thing, but I still need to fulfill the contract I signed with the Federation. Only then will I truly be free—though, technically speaking, I'm a Federation citizen now."

The chubby man nodded to show he understood and then asked Blade Warrior, "What are your plans regarding that... that matter?"

"Developing a magnetic field conversion device. For now, humanity has no other way out. Of course, I don't think the chances of success are high, but it's better than nothing. Besides, if the time comes, I might rope you in again."

"Huh? Again?"

"What, scared already?"

The chubby man was flustered, shaking his head vigorously like a rattle drum while adamantly denying his fear. "Not scared, not scared—it's just nonsense to be afraid of that!" Yet his facial expression betrayed his true feelings, and Zhang Xiaobo continued, "You're thinking of getting Sky Shadow and Roland involved again, right? Maybe even some of the old crew from back then?"

"Precisely. That's my plan. If possible, gathering top experts from around the world wouldn't be a bad idea either. I believe the Federation would step in to help with that—but only after the successful creation of the magnetic field conversion device."

"If you ask me, that idea isn't reliable at all. Didn't we try once before and see how that turned out?"

"Fair point, wasn't it? Ah!" Blade Warrior sighed, neither agreeing yet not disagreeing with Zhang Xiaobo. She then refuted the failure of their prior attempt, explaining that the device they used then was a rushed and poorly made prototype. Given two years, she was confident she could create a much better version.

Of course, right now, she admitted these were all theoretical plans—just talk. "Take one step at a time," Blade Warrior quoted Feng Yi's words. "Believe in miracles, and miracles will exist. Miracles are all around us. Instead of sitting idle, why not try something new? Who knows, it might even succeed. Humanity has achieved interstellar travel and crossed parallel dimensions; all of that came from everyone's efforts and countless miracles."

Indeed, ideas are vital, but so is the ability to act on those ideas. Both are indispensable. Only then could humanity survive, step off Earth, and reach its current prosperity. Blade Warrior believed that the world's shifting strategies had shown a glimmer of hope to humankind. At least humanity was now daring to try again, retrieving and rediscovering things they had once abandoned—Ancient Martial Arts.

The first step, of course, was the planetary migration plan. Over the past six months, Earth's accelerating trajectory had already caused it to escape its original orbit and enter Uranus' gravitational field.

Fortunately, humanity was still relatively close to the Sun, able to harness its light to generate energy and use an artificial sun to sustain Earth's temperature.

This could last for about three to five years. After that, when solar illumination ceases for good, humanity will rely on reflective technology to deliver heat to Earth's distant surface, until the day the Sun turns into a dim red dwarf—a faint speck in the sky—and Earth's surface is plunged into perpetual darkness.

By then, humans would have to live underground to survive, building subterranean cities and relying on the activity inside Earth's core for sustenance.

The timeline would be unimaginably long—perhaps decades, perhaps centuries, perhaps... until the planet drifted away to some unknown, distant place. At that point, Earth would leave the rich Solar System entirely, afloat in the pitch-black void of space.

By then, Earth's acceleration would become extremely fast, but humanity must control it within safe limits. Otherwise, even the smallest collision with an asteroid could spell extinction. In a way, having the bizarre never find them again would be the best possible outcome amidst their misfortune.

Listening to Blade Warrior's lengthy explanation, everyone fell into brief contemplation. Zhang Xiaobo chuckled and added, "Still, we can't give up hope. What if humanity succeeds? What if we create something even more powerful than the bizarre?"

There's no ruling out the possibility. Back then, they were able to confront the bizarre, and in the future, they would only get stronger—even the chubby Zhang Xiaobo, despite often playing a minor role in the group. He believed his sole value might be in lifting the team's spirits, like a pure comic relief character.

Blade Warrior, however, did not laugh. She simply said, "Perhaps. Let's hope everything proceeds perfectly according to plan."

During this period, only Xiu Yi's team remained visibly confused. Finally, Xiu Yi couldn't hold back and asked, "Fat Brother, Sister Blade, were you talking about the bizarre and humanity's future path?"

"Yes, that's right. Why? Are you interested in hearing more?"

"Mhm."

"Sure! After all, you're his disciple. I feel like you're someone likely to perform miracles too."

So, during their journey back on the cable car, Blade Warrior began recounting their adventures crossing dimensions to Xiu Yi's team. Of course, she deliberately left out certain events, like their encounter with Feng Yi on the twin stars. She understood how much Feng Yi meant to Xiu Yi, and mentioning him would only cause him pain.

By the time they reached the foot of Immortal Mountain, Xiu Yi's group was stunned with disbelief, amazed by the idea that Sara had come from another dimension and that humanity had indeed crossed into parallel universes!

"Xiu Yi, what you must do now is focus on growing stronger until one day, you become someone like Brother Feng."

"Brother Feng has always been my goal, the person I aspire to surpass. I will." Xiu Yi declared firmly, and Xixi and the others chimed in their agreement.

Yet, they couldn't ignore the vast gulf in strength between themselves and Feng Yi—an unbridgeable gap, nearly impossible to close. Still, as Feng Yi once said, "Miracles exist in the heart of every person." He never retreated, and Xiu Yi wouldn't let him down either.

At that moment, Xiu Yi finally understood. As Brother Feng had once said, true strength does not come solely from combat ability but from carrying the responsibilities one must bear in different situations. The stronger you are, the broader your vision, the more open your mind, the more sincere your actions, and the more capable you are of accomplishing things ordinary people cannot. Inner strength—that is true strength.

At that instant, Xiu Yi resolved never to settle for merely being a pilot. He wanted to become a warrior, like Red Ghost and Brother Feng.

Even if Xiu Yi didn't possess exceptional talent or stand out as a versatile genius like Kexiao, nor could he be a dual-master of martial arts and magic like Brother Feng, he believed firmly that with steady, honest effort, all miracles were achievable. He would succeed.

Now, Xiu Yi even began wondering—when he attains true mastery and becomes someone akin to Brother Feng, perhaps he'd be able to mentor Brother Feng's child in his own way?

"Xiu Yi, what are you daydreaming about?"

"Nothing." Xiu Yi shook his head and turned to Red Ghost, saying, "Red Ghost, could you teach me how to fight?"

"Hmm? Fight? You're talking about single-combat training."

"Yes, but I won't give up mecha training or abandon anything I'm currently working on."

"Alright. As long as you have the courage, single-combat training is much tougher and demands far more effort than you might imagine."

"I understand. I think I can work even harder."

Seeing the confident smile on Xiu Yi's face, Red Ghost couldn't help but feel that he had truly grown up. There was an unmistakable charm about him that had been absent before. "Hmph, now that's what a team leader should say. Honestly, you weren't bad before, but right now, you're even more outstanding. I believe in you."

"Hey, Xiu Yi, if you're going to learn how to fight, what am I supposed to do in this team?"

"Haha, Kevin, you can join us too."

"Oh, God, I hate training! I just want to be a quiet and peaceful mechanic."
