Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 1090: Fate Reincarnation_2

Saints are exceedingly rare. Human corruption stems from genetic flaws, which afflict the majority. Corrupt governments in various nations are nothing but an exemplar of the human system, inheriting these flaws while wielding the power of the roots. They care little for the world beyond their era, destined to leave a legacy of shame.

Each nation exhausts every possibility to exploit Earth's scarce resources. In mere centuries, the planet's ecological environment has suffered unprecedented destruction. To escape this shackle, humanity turned its gaze to the stars and set sail for space. By the 22nd century, many nations began implementing interstellar navigation plans.

Regrettably, the immigration plans ultimately became a mirage. Even Mars, once deemed the most viable option, surprisingly fell through.

The failure of Mars colonization wasn't due to an average extreme temperature of below -55 degrees Celsius, nor its terrifying super storms, nor the unadaptable gravity or atmospheric pressure, but rather the inability of solar wind ions and liquid water to remain preserved on this ashen planet.

While non-renewable precious resources might represent humanity's only path off Earth, humans discovered they couldn't slow down the exploitation. When they realized Earth's invaluable resources had become indispensable necessities, driven by greed, the world ultimately triggered a catastrophic war.

The war caused devastating casualties. In just a few years, the global population sharply declined to a level where post-war resources barely sufficed for normal living. This "resource war" was then ironically renamed as "peace."

However, development never pauses. Earth's dwindling resources continue to shrink day by day. To maintain a balance between development and resource utilization, world leaders initiated the "Noah" supercomputer project. Through negotiations, they reached a consensus: no single power would control Noah independently, and its highest directive was unequivocal—Protect Earth.

Noah adhered unwaveringly to its ultimate mission, silently observing human behaviors…

Until one weekend, when nearly every electronic device worldwide simultaneously failed. A name appeared on the glowing screens—Noah—with one haunting message: "Execute humanity's highest order: eliminate humanity."

This is a thought-provoking and ironic twist of history. By the time global leaders decided to revise Noah's supreme directive, it was already too late. Humanity created it, yet in the end, desperately sought ways to erase its existence.

As an artificial intelligence, Noah possessed unparalleled computational power. It could traverse the vast network at will and obtain any information accessible. If it desired, almost no secret remained hidden from it.

In attempting to destroy Noah completely, countries devised countless meticulous plans, but implementing them was extraordinarily challenging. Noah surveilled every move. To annihilate Noah, one had to infiltrate the Relief Center on Earth, but the tools humans relied upon turned against them, becoming their enemies.

Ultimately, humanity still succeeded. This is humanity's greatest triumph, though the means were overly extreme and reckless, employing widespread bombardment tactics through explosive force.

Yes, humanity prevailed! Unfortunately, Noah's mainframe was not completely obliterated but merely sustained partial damage. This resulted in a loss of control over its AI systems, including biomechanical mechas, mutated biological entities, and many human-operated weapons, sparking a massive explosion that triggered decades of technological stagnation.

Noah's sudden rebellion had already sounded humanity's final alarm. Although Noah vanished without a trace thereafter, humanity's fear did not diminish in the slightest. The catastrophic losses it inflicted on countless families and nations left an indelible mark.

The Noah AI project was a top secret among nations, known to few. To shirk responsibility, countries secretly erased all evidence related to Noah after the incident, including its data records, and resorted to mutual blame and accusations.

As a result, records relating to Noah remain a mystery to this day. Even Noah's memory was partially lost during the explosion, rendering its synchronization permanently below 100%.

The only entity ever capable of contending against Noah was Eggy. Its chaotic encoded input baffled Noah every time, remaining uncrackable no matter how many attempts it made. However, Blade Warrior and Eggy were not exactly acquaintances; Blade Warrior was familiar with Eggy's former friend.

That friend was Wolf, along with Wolf's companions, such as Paradise. It seems Sky Shadow is Paradise's descendant, and Allen—a name someone once mentioned to her—also appears faintly connected. In any case, Blade Warrior was certain the Allen she knew would never be the beggar Allen. (laughs)

The Storm Stance inheritance held by Feng Yi and Lasso was, in fact, left behind by Wolf.

Yet Feng Yi had chosen a different path, abandoning her earlier studies. In contrast, Blade Warrior and Wolf had a deeper friendship, while Feng Yi became her comrade and battle companion on the battlefield.

Now, time flies and years pass like a melody. Blade Warrior no longer wishes to dwell on the remnants of history. She has witnessed too much—be it the dazzling stars of the war chariot era or the unleashed brilliance of geniuses during the mecha age. All will fade into the past. Only emotions can be deemed eternal.

However, whenever an era nears its end, a ripple invariably stirs in her heart—the ushering of the next cycle's prelude.

The epoch we're living through will eventually meet its conclusion. From the moment humanity launched Plan A, from the time she returned from an alternate dimension to sort out her findings, Blade Warrior realized how much the era had changed within just a year.

Despite people's undying passion for mechas, national strategies were silently shifting under the current's push.

Without a doubt, war chariots dominated an era, mechas dominated another. But when confronted with unmanageable bizarre entities, humanity discovered that once-invincible technology was utterly powerless. The only feasible restraint was the biological magnetic field.

Each individual's constitution varies, and thus their magnetic field differs in strength. This unique frequency band, which could possibly counter the bizarre entities, prompted unprecedented unity in international strategies.

Once mired in mutual suspicion, nations had often waged wars over resource shortages. But when faced with an undefeatable enemy, when forced to abandon their homelands, humanity finally grasped the truth of sharing common roots.

Millennia of heritage may have created differences in our skin color and surnames. Yet, fundamentally, we stem from the same civilization—the human civilization.

It's precisely because humanity faced a shared enemy that they discovered the means to resist the bizarre entities. Thus, today's golden age of Ancient Martial Arts flourishes.

Humankind has finally carved out a brand-new path. For a low-grade civilization stepping into its later stages, this pathway may appear redundant, distorted, and fraught with obstacles. Yet, in extraordinary times, it seems perfectly fitting.

Shifting perspective, perhaps this isn't a bad thing. As humanity's minds evolve, we've increasingly overlooked the synchronization of our bodies, allowing them to gradually degenerate. This neglect has led to frequent illnesses that remain untreatable, to fears of parasites and plagues. Over time, as our skeletal systems grow frail, we even become intimidated by our planet's gravity—a rarity among animals.

Finally, humanity began reflecting and awakening, boldly making uncertain decisions, seeking to reclaim their rightful physical strength. Only by fortifying ourselves can we better resist radiation; only by strengthening our bodies can we extend lifespans and combat cellular aging, instead of letting genetic codes continually diminish until, in tens or hundreds of thousands of years, males vanish from existence.

Her prophecy finally came true. Perhaps this isn't such a terrible thing. At least, from this moment, Blade Warrior's attitude toward humanity underwent a pivotal transformation.
