Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 162: Flying an Airplane_1

"Let's talk about it later," Feng Yi suggested, signaling to continue the training. The military confrontation was getting closer, and they needed to step up their preparations.

"Can you still move? You look seriously injured," Feng Yi asked, helping Elvis up.

Elvis groaned in frustration. Despite the advanced medical technology, it would take him a week to fully recover.

"By the way, that kid Zhang has been clamoring to join the logistics team lately."

"Zhang? Join the logistics team?"

"Yeah."

Feng Yi was taken aback. Since the incident with Sheng Qiangwei, Zhang had been talking about ending their friendship like a scorned woman, unless Feng Yi took him out for drinks and a chat. He had ranted for a few days but eventually calmed down. Feng Yi knew that Zhang just wanted him to explain things to Sheng Qiangwei.

But those who understood Feng Yi, understood him, and there was no need to explain to those who didn't. Besides, Feng Yi was unsure how to face Sheng Qiangwei now. Just thinking about this stubborn woman... he didn't want to consider the topic anymore.

Changing the subject, Feng Yi asked Elvis about his future plans - whether to stay in logistics or change teams?

Elvis answered with a smile, saying that the Dean had had several talks with him. Surprisingly, apart from Balun and Daphne, who both had the strength of team leaders, the rest all expressed their wish to join the mobile division and become a mobile soldier.

Elvis returned the question to Feng Yi, wondering why he hadn't heard any more about Feng Yi's initial ambition to join the mobile division. With his abilities, joining wouldn't be an issue, right? This wasn't the Feng Yi he knew, who was typically unswerving in his decisions.

Feng Yi laughed. Plans never kept up with changes, and he told Elvis to focus on his recovery, rather than overthinking it. As for Zhang... his addition to the logistics division would not necessarily enhance his military abilities. It was just amusement for him. Things like shooting practice, outdoor survival training, a chance to get close to the ladies, it was all just for a bit of fun. This was a game to Zhang, and nobody understood that better than Feng Yi. Just the thought of Zhang's smug face after getting his way gave Feng Yi chills.

In the afternoon, Feng Yi decided to find some time to give the students some targeted advice. Shooting was always a basic skill that soldiers needed to master. Truthfully, everything that needed to be taught had been covered. It was now up to the students to gain insights. Those who were more intuitive would learn more, while those who were less so wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

Upon closer observation, Feng Yi found that the most accurate shooter was always Mu Tou. This man's shooting skills were incredibly precise; almost unaffected by wind direction, altitude, or distance. He was a natural-born sniper. But he also had his shortcomings— his reloading speed was very slow, almost always landing him in last place.

The worst performer was without a doubt Xia Xinru. This girl was bright and quite perceptive. Her gun-holding technique was standard and her aiming posture was by the book. The problem was that she was too frail. Every single shot forced her to readjust for quite a while due to the slight recoil.

Feng Yi had wasted a lot of saliva on her, not without berating her in front of everyone. "Hold your gun steady, brace the buttstock, observe the target with your mind's eye, feel the wind with your body. Over a long time, your eyes might become numb to what you're seeing, but your body won't. Sometimes, your body's intuition is more precise than your eyes. That's right, just like that. Line up your shot. Fire!"

Two gunshots echoed, but the bullets deviated. Luckily, they didn't fly off completely. Feng Yi slapped his forehead and gave Xia Xinru a "you're hopeless" look. He sighed deeply: "Tell me, where are you aiming?"

Xia Xinru's cheeks flushed like she was being praised instead of scolded. "Oh... I still missed with my eyes closed."

Everyone around them started laughing. "Silence!" Feng Yi's angry shout quickly quieted everyone down.

"I told you to feel the wind with your body, but I didn't tell you to shoot with your eyes closed. Try again." He guided every soldier on how to steady the gun.

While aiming, Xia Xinru kept mumbling something to herself. After firing five more shots in succession, the results were even worse. She kept the trigger squeezed, causing a string of shots to fire.

"Are you... shooting at a plane?" The moment Feng Yi said this, he immediately felt something was off. The soldiers around him burst into laughter again. Xia Xinru's face turned even redder at the remark. Seeing her acting as if she was being praised annoyed Feng Yi. With someone like her on the team, wouldn't they get destroyed by the other military schools in the military confrontation?

In fact, everyone else realized that this slightly wicked girl was definitely of armored soldier origin. As a mental ability user, shooting and observation were her strengths. It might make sense if her physical strength was lacking, but shooting was undoubtedly Xia Xinru's innate talent.

Of course, Feng Yi was the only one who didn't know this secret that the rest of the team was aware of. He didn't care about their position in the military confrontation. His mind was filled with other troubles.

When Feng Yi left the shooting range, everyone bent over laughing. In fact, they all knew that the girl had a crush on the instructor, and that's why they kept silent. After all, Feng Yi was busy every day, and they thought that distracting him might not be bad. However, they couldn't help but wonder if it was right to tease someone like this.

Soon, the conversation turned to the topic of planes. Hearing this, Xia Xinru blushed even more. The guy who had started the teasing was cornered by a group of women at the entrance of the men's bathroom and eventually disappeared.

The military confrontation was getting closer every day, and the logistics soldiers' daily training load was decreasing instead of increasing. Everyone was quite relaxed.

Feng Yi's attitude was to maintain the current state. As for Xia Xinru, he took time out every day for her guidance. She and Feng Yi gradually grew close, and the previously shy girl became bolder, often making suggestive gestures which gave him headaches.

Despite this, many other notable figures within the academy had lost their previous leisure time. For example, Zi Mou, who sat in front of the virtual sandbox every day, repeated various tactical simulations for hours on end. Amelia was always a formidable foe whom she had not yet managed to overcome.
