Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 1069: Eternal Belief_2

Perhaps in the final moments of his life, he would reminisce about the past, open a fine bottle of wine, and savor the flavors one last time before fading from this world. But as long as there remained even a shred of strength, he would never give up—this was something Feng Yi had always adhered to.

Perhaps, he had once been rebellious, juvenile, even blinded by obsessive hatred. But as time changed, so did people. The old self would eventually mature and find redemption.

Having lived two lifetimes, Feng Yi no longer held grudges or engaged in cunning maneuverings. He refrained from criticizing what he disapproved of, nor did he display the defiant arrogance of his past or let himself be consumed by strong feelings of love or hate for anyone. He had seen more than anyone else—a true Male Eagle soaring through the nine heavens. Though his wings faltered and his life neared its end, his fiery soul, his gaze brimming with steadfast resolve, and his unspoken aura were unmistakable.

The Bizarre figure seemed to glimpse something unusual in Feng Yi's eyes. His gaze had a depth beyond measure. Or perhaps it was in the moment Feng Yi decided to pour everything into this hopeless battle that his entire demeanor changed; he had transformed into a warrior who resolved to sacrifice everything for the sake of protecting something.

"How… How is it possible? I couldn't find a single flaw in you…"

"Flaw?"

Feng Yi did not fully grasp the meaning behind 'Bizarre's' words.

"Perhaps it's something even you haven't realized—the change in your aura brought forth by the unwavering perseverance you've never exhibited before. Alas, such a change can never alter the ending. Feng Yi, you are a warrior worthy of respect. I formally challenge you, even though this fight will be far from fair."

"Heh, fairness is a luxury. I've long since accepted its absence and welcome your challenge."

The Bizarre figure let out a raspy laugh at Feng Yi's reply…

"Ha!"

With a sudden surge in momentum, black and crimson energy erupted around its form, instantly transforming the area within a dozen meters into a vacuum, blowing away grasses and trees alike in the wake of its explosive force. This aura was far more terrifying than Feng Yi's earlier outburst.

Yet Feng Yi did not retreat. His body, shrouded in a faint blue halo, silently resisted the overwhelming pressure exuded by the Bizarre. Even so, at this moment, Feng Yi could only just maintain self-defense, and the overwhelming difference in their auras was glaringly evident.

Thwack…

Before the sound arrived, the Bizarre struck first, landing a blow on Feng Yi's hastily crossed arms in defense…

With a boom, Feng Yi's figure disappeared instantly, leaving behind a massive thud upon impact with distant rocks…

In the blink of an eye, the Bizarre reappeared five hundred meters away among the rocky terrain, proving that its attack had completely caught Feng Yi off guard. Though Feng Yi remained in a defensive posture with his arms crossed, the blow had taken its toll—both physically and mentally—draining an untold portion of his Mental Power and leaving him breathless like never before.

Looking toward the shattered rocks behind Feng Yi, they crumbled inch by inch into debris upon impact. Clearly, the rocks had absorbed much of the damage, or else, forget five hundred meters—even five thousand meters wouldn't have stopped such force.

"Is this all you've got? That was less than half of my strength."

Though there was no mockery in the Bizarre's voice, the disappointment was palpable. Upon reflection, it was not unreasonable. From the National Defense War until now, Feng Yi had never once been in peak condition. Instead, he had been fighting alone and in despair, enduring the Soul-devouring Seal, the limitations of his Legendary Realm body, and never fully unleashing his true potential.

But the Bizarre had no intention of allowing Feng Yi much respite. As its voice trailed off, it vanished into thin air, moving at a speed so extreme that it seemed instantaneous—a near light-speed maneuver that brought it to Feng Yi's side. Without hesitation, it aimed a sidekick directly at Feng Yi's unguarded abdomen.

The incoming attack from the Bizarre was imminent, its approach reflected in Feng Yi's pupils as they rapidly contracted…

Feng Yi reflexively countered with a punch… the 'Third Rhythm.'

Yet the Bizarre failed to land a hit as Feng Yi's body momentarily phased into nothingness. At first glance, Feng Yi's punch appeared instinctual, but it relocated spatially to strike from behind.

Unfortunately, Feng Yi's response came just a fraction too late. As he unleashed his punch, the Bizarre had already returned to his previous position, countering with a swift follow-up…

Yet Feng Yi's punch vanished, its apparent vulnerability proving to be a mere afterimage before an elbow strike descended in practically the same instant, landing on the Bizarre's unprepared back within a 0.2-second interval.

"Ugh!"

The Bizarre let out a wretched cry of disbelief, utterly unprepared for the lightning-fast attack. Or rather, Feng Yi had anticipated its moves in advance, planning his counterattack meticulously, making the explanation plausible.

The blow seemed to inflict significant harm on the Bizarre, causing it to gag without producing anything.

Meanwhile, Feng Yi's complexion grew increasingly pale. Although he was the aggressor, the excessive depletion of his Mental Power threw his breathing into disarray.

The Bizarre stood upright once more, scrutinizing Feng Yi's pallid face, remarking disdainfully, "What are you still holding on to? A few more blows like the one you just delivered, and you'll destroy yourself completely."

"Ah," Feng Yi responded, not denying the truth, "It seems my time is running out."

"So it's come to this," the Bizarre mused, refraining from further action. "I must commend your terrifying combat talents. Even in this state, you manage to remain composed and calculate my next moves. You are the first human I've praised, and likely the last."

"Thank you for your compliments. Let's continue," Feng Yi replied.

"No rush."

The Bizarre's sudden declaration of patience caught Feng Yi off guard… He silently waited for an explanation.

"Your friends are here."

"What—my friends?"

"Indeed. The ones I spoke of earlier—you must know them well."

With a single thought, the Bizarre projected its consciousness to Feng Yi, allowing him to perceive the rapidly approaching shuttle.

Two hundred kilometers away, a high-speed shuttle hurtled toward them—a vehicle Feng Yi immediately recognized as the one he had once left inside the Space Crystal.

Inside the shuttle were five people…

The Blade Warrior, Zhang Xiaobo, Sky Shadow, Mengdie, and Roland—of course, Feng Yi wouldn't recognize his alternate-dimensional self.

"Ah, this… Why are there two stars among them?"

"Those fools have undeniably come to challenge me. They are too weak, save for that woman. The others are worthless, far inferior to you."

The "woman" the Bizarre referred to was obviously Roland, while Sky Shadow's capability, though insufficiently known, had previously been tested—his combat power barely exceeded a mere 1 million, a miserable prospect.

Bear in mind, Feng Yi's full-force strike currently reached nearly 10 million combat power. Even if their collective attacks exhausted some of its energy, it wouldn't amount to much, as Feng Yi's attributes were uniquely restraining. Any other attackers would see their efforts reduced to a drop in the ocean. Even if Sky Shadow and the group fought together for a day and night, the Bizarre believed their damage wouldn't even come close to the full-force blow Feng Yi had just unleashed.

Feng Yi's otherwise calm demeanor faltered slightly upon realizing the situation! He knew their abilities well: among them, Roland was undoubtedly the strongest. But how strong? Even Eggy had once said Feng Yi could never defeat Roland in this lifetime.

Eggy's assertion wasn't wrong. Even now, with two lifetimes of experience, Feng Yi's skills as a warrior refused to admit defeat. A man could be beaten, but never broken. Alas, he simply had no more time—to solidify his strength, to face Kexiao in battle—all these were regrets of his past.
