Sky Shadow said, "Even if I disclose the secrets of the Time-Space Transfer Device, you actually won't let us go, will you?"
"Not necessarily, oh, I, Hasten Ressenbor, am quite merciful. If you can provide a satisfactory answer, you might even obtain everything you desire."
"Fine, I'll tell you about the origins of the Time-Space Transfer Device."
Mengdie's eyes widened slightly, and in that instant, Zhang Xiaobo also panicked. The Time-Space Transfer Device was their utmost secret; how could they so easily reveal it to the enemy? "Hey, Sky Shadow, have you gone mad?"
"Shut up!"
Sky Shadow shouted angrily, his voice reflecting undeniable decisiveness. If there was a sliver of a chance of overcoming Hasten Ressenbor before, now with the appearance of seven Cantelu warriors—one of whom was difficult enough to contend with, let alone seven—it meant he had to try his best to buy time, to hold out until Roland appeared. He wasn't clear about Roland's strength, but at the very least, Roland should be stronger than him. This was the only plan Sky Shadow could think of.
Fortunately, Hasten Ressenbor simply wanted him to reveal the secrets of the Time-Space Transfer Device, not to find it. In other words, he could do his utmost to delay the enemy on this matter.
"I can tell you, but there is one condition before that."
Hasten Ressenbor gestured for him to continue.
Sky Shadow pointed at Mengdie. "I need to speak with her for a moment. It won't take too much time."
"Hmph, trivial." Hasten Ressenbor shook his head reluctantly; he didn't expect such childish tricks and said, "Do as you please. I am very merciful."
Mengdie seemed somewhat stunned. She had never thought that Sky Shadow, who often opposed her, would seek her out at this time…
Sky Shadow looked calmly at Mengdie's silver mask, silent for a moment as if making a firm decision, and said, "With your speed, if it's just escaping, I think it might be possible."
Mengdie pretended not to hear, turned her lovely face away with preoccupation, nodded slightly, then somewhat uncertainly shook her little head as if to say that even if she could escape, the hope of succeeding was extremely slim.
"If a battle arises, I will do my best to hold him off, even if just for a second. Use that time to find Blade Warrior and get out of here."
Mengdie's expression changed again, seemingly never expecting Sky Shadow to say such things—was it out of compassion or friendship for a teammate, or was he moved by Kexiao's death? It seemed he never cared about such things.
"Don't flatter yourself. Your body might carry the only hope for humanity. If you die, mankind no longer has a chance."
Sky Shadow didn't want to communicate much with Mengdie, and after speaking, he turned to look at the fatty, casting a meaningful glance his way, leaving it up to fate whether he would understand.
"Are you done?"
"Of course, I will now recount to you everything about the Time-Space Transfer Device. It is a machine powered by paradox engineering as its engine, utilizing a type of crystal not yet discovered by humanity, called the Time Crystal. Time Crystals are very rare, borne out of the phases when supernova explosions form black holes."
"It sounds interesting."
"Does it? I think you'd find our origins more fascinating."
"Oh? And what might your origins be?"
"I come from another universe."
"What did you say, another universe...?" Hasten Ressenbor's complexion finally changed, no longer maintaining his initial calm. His face was filled with shock, yet he harbored little doubt about Sky Shadow's words.
After all, the microwave radiation images he observed indeed showed a brief Earth projection around the Time-Space Transfer Device—it seemed to not belong to this dimension, this time-space, but due to the transient nature of the images he naturally could not confirm whether it was indeed from an Earth in another dimension or from a remote foreign land.
Hasten Ressenbor's wild imagination clearly would not extend the imagery to other dimensional realms, but when Sky Shadow said these words, it was a different story, because he did indeed detect spatial fluctuations, and there were generally only two possibilities for such occurrences.
The first is hyperspace compression curvature flight, but there exists an important premise: curvature flight involves movement during the spatial compression process, whereas this spacecraft was stationary.
Secondly, large objects can be forcefully transmitted from outside the domain via light transmission, which also has a premise—that is, setting interstellar coordinates for the transit point.
Obviously, the location where the Time-Space Transfer Device appeared was outside Earth's domain. Humans could not possibly set coordinate locators in the emptiness of space; therefore, he could determine that these spatial fluctuations were the result of some technology that is currently not understood.
Guessing is one thing, but getting answers is another. Hasten Ressenbor's face showed the utmost shock precisely because he believed Sky Shadow's response.
"What is your purpose here?"
"To save the universe."
"Saving the universe...?" Hasten Ressenbor genuinely found this statement amusing. "Ha ha ha, I must have heard that wrong."
"You heard correctly. Our universe is currently facing an unprecedented crisis—the evolution history of universes is not the same."
"Crisis?"
"Yes, in the past year we discovered a species called the Magic Crystal civilization. They sealed a High Dimensional space creature called 'Bizarre,' whose physical form is unlike any known physical structure."
And so, Sky Shadow explained the situation to Hasten Ressenbor as best he could, detailing the knowledge he had from the Sky family.
"The situation is as such, no physical attack has any effect on 'Bizarre.' It will manifest in ways we completely cannot comprehend, gradually synchronizing the entire universe, causing the collapse and confusion of spatial rules, and leading us towards destruction step by step."
"Quite the story."
"This is no story. Just in case, we have prepared many Time-Space Transfer Devices."
Sky Shadow's thinking was straightforward: if they really had to flee, the other party would not be able to follow; and if even the Blade Warrior couldn't escape, then it was better to be honest, now. Even the most wicked individuals, when facing such circumstances, would likely not stand idly by, as this matter concerned not just others but their own lives as well. It's a pity that such a guy couldn't work for me, thought Sky Shadow, but he still considered trying to persuade him.
On the other hand, villains aren't necessarily unreasonable or incommunicado, as seen in feel-good novels. They also have logic and can think. Sky Shadow was now pondering whether the story would extend in the way he expected, such as by having a villainous character perform a significant turnaround, transforming into a protagonist who would help them, side by side, in their fight.
Although such an idea might seem melodramatic, he would still seize any opportunity, provided that, in the event he couldn't get away, he would not bring such a dangerous individual into his original world.
"It's not entirely out of the question, but how can you guarantee the safety of everyone involved?"
"I give you my word of honor, as a clever man, you should know there's no other choice."
"Alright, I can take you." After saying this, Sky Shadow gestured to the seven people who followed him. They looked like Cantelu warriors, probably not weaker than the three who had just perished. He said, "But only you can come; I don't want more people to know the secret. In turn, to prevent being followed, these two companions of mine will stay here and watch over them."
Sky Shadow then took out the communication device to show Hasten Ressenbor, before making a call, indicating he wasn't lying.
Squeak squeak squeak, as a burst of static sounded through, Hasten Ressenbor finally believed what Sky Shadow said, although he couldn't figure out what his intentions were. There seemed to be no reason for him to lie.
As Sky Shadow led the way, Hasten Ressenbor suddenly sent a cold voice towards Sara, "You are no longer of any use."
With those words and a sudden lift of his arm, he released a beam of light that pierced through Sara's unguarded chest, sending her twirling like a severed kite in the white blizzard of Piaoxue, scattering a few strands of bright red before she collapsed, motionless...
