Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 940 The Land of the Lost

Feng Yi could sense the unique physical rules of this space. His once-exhausted Mental Power was quickly restored as if new. To put it in gaming terms, if his Mental Power were likened to a game's mana bar, it would have been completely drained in the previous ordeal. It wasn't replenished by potions but through a forced pull to this place at the expense of health bar limits.

As for where to go next, of course, it was to find Xiu Yi and the others. He wasn't planning on delaying any further; this Alternate Space might reveal any kind of horror beyond your imagination.

Gazing toward the interstellar gateway, it seems that it must be a portal connecting to unfamiliar cosmic spaces. He couldn't afford to waste time here. As his Mental Power continued to expand, Feng Yi, in a state of deep thought, instantly captured the presence of Xiu Yi and the others.

To his surprise, Xiu Yi and Red Ghost were together with Xixi in a space, yet at different locations. So how should Kevin's explanation of Xixi's repetitive process be interpreted? Could it be seen as a reflection of a period in time, or a deep-seated emotion?

Regardless, he had to find them first. "We set off now."

"Brother Feng, have you located the other three?"

"Yes, but they are very far from here. We need to use instant teleportation to get there."

"But, Brother Feng, your body..."

Feng Yi shook his head, signaling to Kevin not to worry, indicating that the material abundance in this strange space should prevent a repeat of the earlier incident.

After a series of long-distance jumps, they at last arrived at the other side of the distant interstellar door.

"This is the place. We can enter together."

"Hehe, this door looks quite sturdy, much more so than the last one."

Kevin scrutinized the gateway carefully, his eyes meticulously scanning it countless times inside and out. To his surprise, his observation revealed something about its structure—the crystals emitting a myriad of colors were incredibly beautiful. If he gave one to Xixi, she might even fall for him. Kevin began to wonder whether he should pick a crystal from another gateway as a collectible.

After all, such things might not exist in the human world. With civilization in ruins, taking one probably wouldn't matter. Or, considering that this space might soon be destroyed, why not create some value for others before its demise?

Of course, this was just Kevin's pure imagination, his thoughts, his casual musings... well, purely... Er, anyway, while Kevin thought this, he didn't actually act on it. He knew the importance of this journey. He had other burdens, missions to complete, and companions to rescue. Even if he wasn't sure how much help he could provide, given that Brother Feng and Bai Zhexian considered the task enormously challenging, it made no sense for him just a Level 3 bounty hunter.

Under normal circumstances, the cunning Kevin would indeed have taken a piece or two to sell or keep as a keepsake, or even as a gift for a girl.

At that moment, Kevin suddenly imagined the day he would become famous, achieving both fame and fortune, and marrying a beautiful woman to reach the pinnacle of life. If that day ever came, he would definitely give Xixi the grandest wedding and invite Brother Feng and many others to witness their love.

Of course, the prerequisite was leaving this place, but with Brother Feng here, he believed it wouldn't be difficult to escape this predicament. The real challenge was...

Wait! Something wasn't right—a distortion, or something else was happening. As his thoughts wandered, Kevin abruptly wondered when his mind had become so active, rich, colorful, and even started planning his life's path. Or was it the uniqueness of this space that made these various scenarios, which he subconsciously imagined, suddenly come to life?

Meanwhile, Bai Zhexian observed Kevin closely without speaking, as if something had dawned on him, but before he could organize his thoughts, he was interrupted by another statement from Feng Yi.

"You've been standing there in a daze for over ten seconds. What are you doing? Let's go in together."

Feng Yi's voice, like a drop of spring water, instantly snapped them out of their reverie, and the three of them strode into the dim space.

One thing was for certain: this place also harbored its oddities, though what exactly they were remained a mystery. Upon entering, the trio found themselves in a modern urban area that seemed to have been abandoned for who knows how long, with collapsed buildings strewn about and overgrown with wild grass and moss—this must've been what was left after the end of human civilization.

Yet within this space, the presence of Red Ghost, Xiu Yi, and Xixi could still be felt. With Xixi's presence being particularly strong and the existence of both Red Ghost and Xiu Yi rather faint and distant, it was inferred that Xixi wasn't far from the group. As for Xiu Yi and Red Ghost, they might be in the same city, or perhaps this forgotten alternate world never harbored any other life forms. Therefore, Feng Yi and Bai Zhexian could easily detect those two elusive presences.

"Brother Feng, did you detect those two presences?" Bai Zhexian broke the silence.

"I did. This should be Xixi's presence."

Kevin was still in the realm of ordinary people and couldn't sense it. Bai Zhexian didn't recognize Xiu Yi, Xixi, and Red Ghost, so he couldn't confirm whose presence it was; he could only be sure there were people nearby. But upon hearing Feng Yi's comment, Kevin immediately perked up.
