"Heh, a battle everyone is anticipating, fate really is a wondrous thing," the screen snapped off and Feng Yi closed the radar, turning his gaze towards the endless abyss of space… Slowly, he sensed an aura from afar, a troubling fluctuation that grew increasingly disconcerting.
Meanwhile, far from the competition area in Saudi, a peaceful room was suddenly disrupted by a message from Heavenly Communication. It was sent from the Saudi Human Body Modification Project, stating that Revenant No.3 had regained consciousness and was waiting for further instructions: now Revenant No.3 was known as 'Mu Tou!'
"How did I get contradicted immediately after speaking, and in public no less?" observed by some officers who all looked at him, Kexiao was first taken aback, then simply shrugged…
"Hey, Kexiao, didn't you just say it wasn't Revenant No.3's identity," Xia Mu waited for Kexiao's response.
"Yes, that's the fact," Kexiao helplessly shook his head and laughed, "Just a normal fight, it's a trivial matter."
Jiu Ling spoke leisurely: "The General does this to maintain overall harmony and to avoid any discord; I hope everyone understands." Having been around Kexiao for so long, Jiu Ling somewhat understood his difficulties.
"I didn't say anything offensive; please don't take it personally, beautiful," Xia Mu quickly explained, meaning no harm.
Devil seemed indifferent; after all, any necessary means before war are considered normal, he thought. Presumably, Kexiao's remark about it being a trivial matter was also something he'd only say after the combat.
Just then, their thoughts were interrupted by another urgent report…
"Enter."
"Reporting, General, vast energy fluctuations detected at coordinates V583 in the Devil Star Cluster. We've just received this report."
"Vast energy fluctuations?"
"Yes, General."
He signaled the security officer to bring the report, and after briefly reviewing it, Kexiao's deep eyes showed no disturbance, yet his relaxed forehead gradually furrowed…
As Kexiao's expression changed, the noisy room suddenly fell silent, you could hear a pin drop.
Jiu Ling, Xia Mu, Devil, and the others had never seen such a solemn expression on Kexiao before, and their gazes intersected in a silent communication... They couldn't comprehend why simply three pages of report could elicit such a reaction on Kexiao's face, and what exactly was written on them.
Little did they know that Kexiao, right after reading the report, had issued an order to dismiss the others, "Gentlemen, I'd like to ponder over some matters alone."
"Xia Mu, Devil, let's go." Carrying various doubts, Jiu Ling led them out; her remaining authority as the captain of the super-soldier team allowed her this much. The other commanders inside the room also prudently chose to leave.
Only when left alone did Kexiao pick up the communicator and order his forces to closely monitor the region and to report immediately if anything changed, continuously muttering "V583…"
He vividly remembered, the Devil Star Cluster V583 had an asteroid belt with a space fortress, precisely, a structure not possible to be engineered with human civilization, featuring an unstable energy void vortex within.
This top secret, besides Saudi, was only known to the Federation, it was consensus forged early between them due to an encounter he and Feng Yi had in the asteroid belt, uncovering a space civilization.
That meant as soon as he received the report of substantial energy fluctuations at V583, the Federation must have also received this message.
Due to the unstable void vortex at V583 coordinates, significant energy fluctuations occasionally occurred, not much of a surprise; however, the report noted the recent discovery of a floating spaceship in the vast ruins, oddly shaped, and its details could not be clearly observed through high-gloss far-sight devices, only by old-fashioned telescopic equipment.
The observation report suggested that this seemed to be a battleship abandoned twenty thousand years ago. There were no signs of life inside, suspected to belong to a Type Three civilization with unstable energy fluctuations that modern equipment could not detect.
The sudden news plunged Kexiao into deep thought, inexplicably reminding him of the hints Feng Yi had given him during that time…
Two hours later, Kexiao received another surprising message. The Federation and Saudi survey teams hadn't even approached the strange battleship when their shuttle malfunctioned, affected by an unknown magnetic field from within the spaceship, temporarily named the S-type Magnetic Storm.
To date, the second team of rescuers had also experienced hardware malfunctions, unable to establish contact, and both the Saudi and Federation were using various methods in an attempt to carry out rescue operations. Regrettably, both sides had absolutely no clue what to do next.
Now, the Federation was trying to approach the target using old-fashioned unmanned flying equipment, while Saudi was using 2 spacecraft equipped with ion acceleration, and switching to old nuclear power for additional speed near the S Magnetic Storm area.
During this not overly lengthy process, both sides silently awaited the survey results, but even the fastest old flying equipment would take a minimum of three hours to reach the designated area, with the Federation needing even longer.
In the vast room, Kexiao continuously watched the reconnaissance reports, his mood for the Mecha Battle significantly dampened. Each time he recalled Feng Yi's past words, he couldn't help but associate this situation with those remarks.
Life is always full of ups and downs, yet humanity never lacks curiosity about the unknown. There are things in this world we don't understand that might know much more than we do—the fifth eon of winter that Feng Yi spoke of, would it truly arrive as predicted?
