Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 916: Feng Yi's Response

"Hehe, Your Grace is too kind," Protector Jin replied, knowing full well that Mengdie was a woman of few words. She hurried to speak with a compensatory smile, yet shivers ran through her body for no reason! Good heavens, this burly fellow had actually proclaimed his fondness for her in public—how embarrassing! If only it were a more handsome guy instead. A fleeting look of disgust crossed Protector Jin's bright eyes, but out of politeness, she kindly declined. Being a high-ranking member of the Jade Clear Sect, how could she possibly be swayed by some average inner sect disciple? Humph.

Yet, Protector Jin was a feast for the eyes in her own right. She did not possess Mengdie's serene charm, nor Mingfei's authoritative aura. Instead, she was like a sprightly sprite among blossoms, fresh and delightful at first sight, though few knew that this Sect Protector was also a little devil who carried out her duties without the slightest hint of mercy.

Forbes did not name anyone directly, but his words carried an undertone of probing, "I just wonder if among these many talents, there are none whom the Protectors have taken a liking to?"

Protector Jin's aspirations were sky-high, and upon hearing this, she deftly diverted the topic to something trivial, laughing off any questions about that matter.

It was clear that handsome men and beautiful women in the Jade Clear Sect were highly sought after. In this age where looks reigned supreme, many inner sect disciples from various factions were inclined towards the Jade Clear Sect, their intentions potentially multifaceted.

At the same time, Feng Yi had just woken up, not realizing he had slept for so long. He glanced at his Thunder Watch and saw it was already nine o'clock...? Clearly, the potion Roland had given him had some side effects—though it might not really count as a side effect, it could be due to his body not having entered the Legendary Realm for quite some time and being unaccustomed to it, thus feeling weary.

After a quick clean-up, Feng Yi stepped outside. The mild sunlight of early autumn shone down on Immortal Mountain where people hurried along, not bothered by the chill to change their attire. Gazing at the golden and purple grass plains, his mood inexplicably lifted.

Now Feng Yi had to carry several bottles of water with him every day to help maintain the balance of yin and yang in his body. So before leaving, he habitually purchased two crates of pure water, opened a bottle for himself, and stored the rest in the Space Crystal before leisurely ascending the rocky path...

After the battle the previous day, it seemed his energy had not fully recovered.

The disciples guarding the gate were familiar with Feng Yi's identity and treated him with respect, but as soon as he entered the outer gate, he noticed something different. How had the place turned so festive and lively after just one sleep?

What's going on here? It's as if, as if... Ah, it must be like the decorations for a wedding procession, too overly dramatic! Could it be that the Chief Disciples' battle had escalated to getting hitched? With a mix of confusion, bewilderment, and incomprehension, Feng Yi stroked his chin in thought and decided to investigate.

The pavilions of Immortal Mountain soared into the clouds. Ordinary people would take a long time just to walk up and down the mountain, but for disciples, this had become routine, and it was indeed a part of the outer disciples' training.

Of course, for Feng Yi, climbing these steps was no issue, but as he continued upward, he slowly confirmed his guess—could it really be a marriage alliance?

He saw hanging colored lanterns in the grand hall of Immortal Mountain, bustling disciples, and an atmosphere rich with wedding celebrations, which added a hint of resignation to Feng Yi's heart. He casually stopped an inner sect disciple to inquire about the situation, and the answer was clear. It was indeed a rare secretive factional marriage alliance.

Unfortunately, Feng Yi couldn't get more details from the inner sect disciple. Though they received focused training and resources from their Sect, being just disciples, they usually had limited understanding of major internal affairs, much less someone like Wu Tian.

This distinguished visitor really had a miserable fate—to have to ask around himself along the way. Luckily, it wasn't long before he met the head of Vermilion Bird Hall and, fortunately, gleaned some intelligence.

The head claimed that due to the special nature of this hidden sects' exchange battle, the Sect Leader had been busy with social engagements.

Feng Yi was taken aback! In these moments of joy, it felt somewhat improper for him to barge in asking questions. In a flash of thought, he decided to wait and asked the head to pass a message for him, simply to visit again in three days, as the unique marriage celebrations were expected to last that long, according to the head.

For that reason, Feng Yi didn't linger and left. He was never one to impose on others—now, his mind was more concerned with the Mecha Battle. With the top 16 finished yesterday, each contestant had two days of rest, which included today and tomorrow. He didn't know which of the following matches he would be drawn into, and if he didn't compete, what kind of uproar would it cause...

Heh, maybe it wouldn't even get to that point. With a self-mocking wry smile, Feng Yi leisurely walked down Immortal Mountain... He couldn't dally any longer; no one knew his condition better than he did, and in three days, no matter what, he had to find Wu Tian.

At that moment, Feng Yi's face was notably pale. On the way down, he guzzled down two more bottles of water, leaving his stomach feeling bloated. If this continued, even if he didn't die, his body was bound to suffer.

Time flew, and three days later, as he stepped back onto the high platform of Immortal Mountain, it was evident that Feng Yi looked even worse than before, his steps now a bit unsteady.
