Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 890 Success and Failure So_2

Mirami's mouth gaped open in astonishment...

"No way! Is he that strong?" Her last strike had been delivered with all her might, yet the Revenge Shadow Rider had merely stepped back half a stride. What should she do next?

She had considered long-range suppression, but in long-range combat, that thing could reduce Desert Storm to a tempest in a teapot. If she went for range, she might be left with nothing, not even debris. As for close combat, it was extremely difficult to stay within the safety range of Flame Dual Slash—she had already gone all out in her recent attack and ended up like this. Speaking of skill, she simply wasn't a match for the Revenge Shadow Rider.

Mirami suddenly realized how terrible her luck was. Her opponent was a rock that stood firm against both long-range and close combat as well as technical skill. The only reason he wasn't attacking was that he was amused by her, showing a keen interest in her moves. Once he felt she had no strategies left, he would take the initiative to attack. She was in a tough spot.

The scene became awkward for a moment...

But she still had one major advantage, her greatest trump card against the Revenge Shadow Rider. Without any hesitation, she charged forward for a second time. As her engine blazed, the Crimson Mecha whirled around the Revenge Shadow Rider like a tornado, its speed increasing by the moment...

Such high-speed movement couldn't possibly cause any disturbance to the Revenge Shadow Rider. Mirami was well aware of this fact; all of this was merely a ruse to set up her next move.

Above in the stands, the commentators fell silent, realizing that even their voices seemed out of place and redundant during the Revenge Shadow Rider's battle.

The Brow of the Heavenly Kings at Hell's Gate suddenly lit up with interest. Was she going to use that move? It's true that Mirami wouldn't easily resort to such a technique in a regular battle, and the conditions typically wouldn't allow it. Most pilots wouldn't just stand still during a duel, but the Revenge Shadow Rider was different. He was known for his observational stance, which would inadvertently create the perfect opening for Mirami to strike.

In just a few breaths, the Crimson Mecha's circling speed reached a blur, dazzling the onlookers, its rotations as rapid as a propeller.

A wry smile finally crossed Mirami's lips as a burst of Mental Ability energy radiated from her center and rapidly expanded outwards. In that instant, Mirami was ready to deliver the fatal blow.

She didn't believe the Revenge Shadow Rider could react at that instant; a Mental Ability impact could render one momentarily deaf. Moreover, the Revenge Shadow Rider's full attention was on her rapidly moving machine. In other words, this somewhat cunning method was perfect for the Revenge Shadow Rider and was precisely why Mirami hadn't bothered with tactical research before the battle.

Against the Revenge Shadow Rider, any tactic would be rendered useless. But no matter how strong the opponent, they were bound to be misled by their subjective judgment while observing and thus lower their guard to an invisible mental assault.

As the Mental Ability interference took hold, the big screen suddenly crackled. Anyone familiar with Mental Abilities realized Mirami's true intent the moment the screen changed. The opponent was exceedingly crafty—no god could react while their focus was solely on the opposing machine.

Swoosh...

The Crimson Mecha shot toward the Revenge Shadow Rider like a bolt of red lightning.

However, the moment before she reached him, or rather just as she was closing the distance, her movement abruptly halted.

The neck of the Crimson Mecha was fiercely pressed against by a black blade emitting dark light. Part of the blade had already penetrated the surface of the Mecha due to the force of the impact, leaving only a small portion visible on the outside. It wasn't so much that the Revenge Shadow Rider had sliced toward the Crimson Mecha; rather, it was as if the Mecha had crashed into the blade itself.

At the same time, Mirami's brain finally received feedback...

As an X Ability User, her specialty was conspicuously charm, but the reason Mirami didn't engage in such tactics was to prevent the Revenge Shadow Rider from sensing her, as a sudden, intense shock would be more effective. However, the feedback her brain gave her indicated that her mental ripple was like a stone sunk in the sea, plunging into the unfathomable depths of the universe's black hole without any response.

Of course, Mirami didn't realize how profound Feng Yi's mental cultivation was, perhaps his realm was declining, perhaps he lacked the X Ability but in the realm of the mind, Feng Yi could nearly achieve immunity against any attack from an X Ability User. Through collecting the Third Rhythm, he could even instantaneously receive countless areas of information and pour them into his brain at the same time—let alone Mirami's tiny ripple.

The screen was frozen, the scene was frozen. All people could see were two mechas—and motionless one at that—except that the black blade of the Revenge Shadow Rider was unknowingly already pressed against the neck of the crimson mecha's body.

And the crimson mecha, its swing only got halfway before it stopped abruptly, as if it had been cut off from power...

How swift was this sword strike, one might ask who in the world could block it?

From the start of the fight to the end, the Revenge Shadow Rider had only made what seemed to be two casual movements, a block and a sword strike, effortlessly overcoming the 12-star rated Mirami.

In the Hell's Gate viewing area, the spectators looked at each other incredulously. Although they knew the Revenge Shadow Rider was strong, they were never certain about the extent of his strength. Today, not only Mirami learned of Revenge Shadow Rider's might, but the viewers of the Hell's Gate area were also momentarily lost in a brief stupor.

The vast gap between expectations and reality was simply incomprehensible; why had this happened? One of the Heavenly Kings had already fallen, with an undoubted defeat. And for Mirami, who was considered the most likely to become the protagonist of the new era, the outcome was even more extreme than the former's.

Not expecting that her journey would end outside the top hundred of the Mecha Battle tournament, although Mirami had braced herself for facing the Revenge Shadow Rider, the abrupt twist still brought a feeling of loss to her heart.

She bit her lower lip gently, eyes slightly downcast, and after two seconds, she finally let out a deep sigh...

On the central screen, people didn't miss the sigh, but no one would have guessed that the usually playful and lively Mirami could have such a moment of desolation. Perhaps beneath her straightforward and vivacious exterior, there lay a heart that yearned to compete and excel.

The outcome was clear and there was no need to continue—at least that's what Feng Yi thought as the Revenge Shadow Rider slowly retracted his black blade.

The crimson mecha hesitated for a moment, then calmly said, "Revenge Shadow Rider, you are truly powerful, and I... am thoroughly convinced."

Technically, the fight wasn't over yet—first, the crimson mecha hadn't admitted defeat, and second, its opponent still had the strength for battle, with the crimson mecha sustaining little damage. But Mirami still adhered to her principles and after the Revenge Shadow Rider retracted his black blade, she hesitated only slightly before adding, "I admit defeat."

Watching the crimson mecha with a cold gaze, the Revenge Shadow Rider quickly turned his slightly tilted head away, "You're not bad either, your skill is very impressive." After giving his evaluation, with a roar, the Revenge Shadow Rider soared into the sky and suddenly vanished into the dark starry abyss...

"Thank you for your evaluation, I will cherish this special autograph," Mirami said, gazing into the void where the Revenge Shadow Rider had disappeared, and a knowing smile crossed her face. Although she lost the fight, she felt as if she gained something in the process, especially from the Revenge Shadow Rider's last words, which gave her full confidence—because he was not one to offer flattery.

This was her first battle with the Revenge Shadow Rider, and perhaps the only time she'd ever encounter him in life. A rare glimpse of sincerity crossed her pretty face—acceptance. If possible, she'd have loved to meet the renowned Feng Yi in person, to truly experience the grace of this national hero.

With a bit of regret, a touch of bitterness, and a hint of sadness, Mirami soared back to the Hell's Gate contestants' area. Stepping out of her mecha, she transformed once again into the charming little witch that everyone adored.

"Hehe, I lost," said Mirami, sticking out her tongue playfully, twirling on her toes, and teasingly speaking to everyone around.
