Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 875 Arriving_2

As the expansion plan of the Blazing Legion was implemented, many junior officers in the Capital military district were eagerly using their connections to join this prestigious unit. Little did they know, once they transferred over, they would have to train together every weekend, under the guise of maintaining the legion's fine traditions.

John had just issued the dissolution order when he, without further ado, took out his light screen phone and dialed a number. Yes, John had fallen in love. Love is a right enjoyed by everyone, including soldiers, and besides, this older brother was in his 30s, an age ripe for marriage and starting a family.

However, it seemed there was a slight unpleasantness during their conversation. In fact, John's personality was a bit rigid, and with the recent busy military expansion, he hadn't had much time to nurture his love, resulting in a minor dispute between the two recently.

Feng Yi had overheard their conversation. John, who was agonizing over the situation, suddenly heard a voice next to his ear, "Old buddy, how can you cheer up your girlfriend in the wrong way? You shouldn't say you're busy. Even if you are busy, you should say that you're busy because of the happiness you share, and because you're picking out a necklace for her."

John turned in surprise and joy. He looked towards the newcomer and found that Feng Yi, this kid, was actually leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, looking quite interested, and even had a blade of grass in his mouth – he hadn't changed at all, "Legion Commander, where have you been these past couple of months?"

"Heh, just took a walk. I'm no longer any legion commander. The fleet will be under your management from now on."

John was visibly shaken by Feng Yi's words, unable to comprehend the meaning behind them, "Commander, we may joke around, but this isn't something to joke about. What do you mean by this?"

"I visited the Military Department a while ago, and I recommended you to them. Your qualifications may not quite be there in terms of rank, but Greedy Wolf approved it, considering my word. Congratulations, the future commander of the Blazing Legion. The handover ceremony probably isn't far off, just wait to take up your post."

John was a tad bewildered. He had initially thought Feng Yi was just speaking offhand, but now they were suddenly discussing the handover. John questioned skeptically, "Wait, what's going on? Why would you step down all of a sudden? The brothers won't agree with this. What is actually happening?"

"I'm tired and planning to retire to a quiet life in the countryside. These brothers will be in your care from now on."

"Boss, what's the Blazing Legion without you? Let someone else take the job; I refuse to do it, regardless."

Feng Yi was speechless, "Why are you so ungrateful? This is a good thing. There are many who would want the position but can't have it."

No matter what Feng Yi said, John was completely unwilling to take on the role.

"Let's not talk about that." John said, "Don't remember which day it was, but recently, an old man came out of nowhere. He said he knew you and that he had a message for you."

Feng Yi fell into a brief moment of confusion, "What's his name, and what message did he want to tell me?"

So John began to recount his experience at that time. Under normal circumstances, he would never bother with such a trivial matter, but this old man was somewhat unusual. He had been able to locate John without permission and sneak into his room, which was alarming enough for John. Years of battlefield experience told him the old man harbored a hint of murderous intent, but he never acted on it.

In John's narrative, the old man had introduced himself as Wu Tian, claiming to be acquainted with him, so, for the time being, let's call him Wu Tian.

This mysterious Wu Tian indicated that he had an important message to convey. He said he had observed the changing celestial signs to discern the future fortunes and misfortunes, sensing an unprecedented catastrophe looming over the Federation and even the entire world. He also mentioned that Mardis was the terrestrial planet most likely to escape this catastrophe, at least within the Federation. The specific reasons were never revealed by Wu Tian, who only mentioned that the secrets of heaven must not be disclosed.

He could even see through to John's heart; before he left, the old man specifically told him that he indeed wanted to kill John because they were bound to meet again someday. John didn't pay much attention to these seemingly irrelevant words at first, until the next day, which was when he checked the surveillance equipment, and this finally got his attention.

John couldn't find the person who had visited his room that night in the surveillance footage, which meant either there was a malfunction in the monitoring system, or he was going mad. He clearly believed his mind was sound, so he shared this nonsensical message with Feng Yi.

To John's surprise, after he finished recounting the story, Feng Yi asked if the man had left any clues. This puzzled John for a moment... Clues, what clues could there be? Right! The Blade Warriors counted for something.

John noted that during his conversation with Wu Tian, he had also mentioned the Blade Warriors, saying that it was only with their technology that humanity could possibly survive this disaster.

Even with Feng Yi's current calm state of mind, John's description stirred ripples of thought. If he had been an atheist before, he certainly would be now—but after mastering the Third Rhythm, he faintly realized some heights were indeed unreachable by current human civilization and could not be explained by science, like instant teleportation.

This mystery aligned strangely with his own field of expertise—as a single leaf could also transform into a vast and majestic universe. When you magnify that leaf infinitely through technological means, you would find that there are no limits to its size or volume, and the internal composition of its veins and roots could precisely reflect the basic structure of the macrocosm.

Whether it's the human body's blood vessels, the patterns in daily tools, observed from a microscopic perspective, all precisely match the vast star maps that wind their way through this three-dimensional universe. Even bacteria and viruses in each breath of air, when observed at a reduced scale, show no limits—nature is the grandest artist, and the constellations, could they also signify the destination of these fallen leaves?

Feng Yi fell silent for a moment. What was this Blade Warrior that Wu Tian referred to... He suddenly thought of the grand projects of the Blade Warriors, wondering if there was some connection between the two?

Although he was an atheist, he still cared a little about what Wu Tian said and what he had heard from the Blade Warriors. After all, Wu Tian had depicted his future death through special means, showing the progressive deterioration of his body—although it was much more intense back then than now.

"Did he say anything else?" Feng Yi asked with some interest.

"Legion commander, you know the man."

"I've had a few encounters with him."

John said, "The man also expressed a wish that the general shouldn't forget the Chief War."

He would, of course, attend the Chief War if possible, but right now, his main concern was investigating what Wu Tian had described. Feng Yi struggled to connect the information he knew, wondering why only Mardis and Earth could potentially escape the catastrophe. The two were far apart geographically; logically, only planets in closer proximity should be linked, or was it the outbreak of the plague mentioned by the Blade Warriors?

This made even less sense, as Mardis, being the world's torque hub, already had more frequent traffic than other federated regions and a large population flow. Yet, it was also the planet Wu Tian referred to as one that would escape the catastrophe, so it couldn't be related to the virus. The only similarity Feng Yi could think of between Mardis and Earth was their environment; beyond that, he couldn't imagine any common ground between two planets so far apart.

Saudi's Dragon Gate space station number 17 wasn't far from Mardis. Although using instant teleportation wasn't difficult to reach it, the consumption of Mental Power wasn't small either. Feng Yi, momentarily at a loss, decided to set aside his thoughts and make a casual visit, realizing he couldn't give up his desire for combat.

After saying goodbye to John and conducting a search, Feng Yi soon located the coordinates for Dragon Gate number 17. So, where should he teleport to next, and should he sign up? These were questions worth considering.

With a thought, Feng Yi's form vanished in a flash, adopting a quantum state... and in the next moment, he appeared in the food court of the Saudi competition area.
