Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 853: The Trial of Wind (Extra for losai98)

Who would have known that no sooner had the trio left the town than a bevy of low-ranked girls surrounded Xiu Yi at the center, "Xiu Yi, don't you want to form a team? Mixing genders makes leveling up less tiring."

Some girls even expressed their willingness to sacrifice themselves, while others mentioned they were equipped with powerful weapons, potions, or some other auxiliary gear. There was even a teammate who offered up a private car as a means of transport.

Xiu Yi was already used to this and politely rejected each offer, recalling that he himself had once done the same. Now, with his personal skills, he could very well make his way forcefully. Even more so with three of them together, and besides, Red Ghost had the Bigfoot Vehicle. It was only because it got damaged in the last battle and was currently being modified at Uncle Reyna's repair shop. After all, being serviced by someone from your own circle meant costs were only at factory price, which proved that having a small circle was the right choice.

"Hey, looking to team up, guys?"

At that very moment, a boy of a similar age to Xiu Yi suddenly stepped forward, arms spread, blocking the way like a tiger on the path, completely disregarding the levels of the others. In this beginners' village, the team ahead was definitely boss-level.

"Sorry, no teaming up," Xiu Yi said, cutting him off decisively.

"Hey, hey, buddy, don't be so heartless. I've got a battle vehicle and gear too."

"Please make way," Xiu Yi continued shaking his head.

"Hmph, I see you're nothing special after all." But no matter how the boy provoked him with words, Xiu Yi simply ignored him as if he didn't exist.

"Alright, alright, I was just kidding. Just let me join you guys. I know a secret."

Red Ghost was speechless, and a huge exclamation mark appeared in the air. How could this person be so annoyingly persistent?

Xiu Yi was also getting impatient, "Buddy, why insist on us when there's a bunch of people around? You know, a three-person team is the best combination, one melee fighter, one ranged, and one medic. We do this for your own safety too."

"Please, just let me join. I am a mechanical engineer, you know." The boy explained that he had always longed for wilderness adventures, and just yesterday, on the day he came of age, his family had finally given him permission to go out exploring. For the sake of safety, his parents had spent quite a bit of money to rent him this armed jeep.

However, there was a deal with his parents: at the bare minimum, he had to travel with at least one prospective hunter. This was a man's promise, and because of his commitment, his family had agreed to it.

"Xiu Yi, just let him join us. You've just come of age too," Xixi said softly from the side, feeling sorry for him.

The boy sent a grateful look towards Xixi.

However, Xiu Yi still considered it carefully. Other than being wary of strangers, ever since the incident with the beautiful elder sister, Xiu Yi had always been extremely cautious. But after close observation, he could basically confirm that this poor kid was indeed not lying. He asked, "What's your name?"

"Kevin," the boy said, his face lighting up with excitement as he saw a glimmer of hope.

Xiu Yi, chin resting in his hand, thought to himself, "Alright, but just this once."

"No problem."

"Where's your car?"

"Parked outside, follow me."

As Red Ghost covered her pretty face with her hands in a deep sigh, she looked up… and had quite the revelation. What did she see? A familiar face—Feng Yi.

At that very instant, Feng Yi was perched in the tree tops, sipping on his drink. Of course, he didn't need to use his eyes for this; with Feng Yi's ability, he could easily determine the distance between several people through their magnetic fields.

Red Ghost silently grabbed Xiu Yi, "Hey, look quickly."

Several people turned their heads together...

As their gaze shifted, the surrounding hunters also involuntarily looked toward that spot... and suddenly discovered a figure in black, hanging dozens of meters high, looking out into the distance, occasionally taking a sip from a flask.

"Brother Feng!" Xiu Yi almost roared.

Feng Yi was slightly taken aback, whoosh... in the blink of an eye, all people saw was an afterimage as the man had already appeared in front of everyone.

"No way! This can't be real."

Kevin's eyes widened in disbelief, staring at the cool man in black before him. He couldn't believe, nor could he understand, how one could describe the landing from dozens of meters high in an instant. The person's speed of descent was immeasurably faster than free fall, leaving only a trail of afterimage behind, an afterimage, that was truly an afterimage...

"Xiu Yi."

Feng Yi's expression was neither happy nor sad, with a faint smile at the corner of his mouth, he simply gazed quietly at Xiu Yi, which caused a sudden jolt in Xiu Yi's body.

"You... You really are Brother Feng!?"

Seeing the idol he had longed for standing right before him, Xiu Yi was so excited that he forgot to continue speaking, as if words could no longer describe his current emotions.

Xixi covered her lips, she knew Brother Feng Yi was very strong, from what she had learned through the media, and of course from what Red Ghost had told her; because Red Ghost was already very strong, but in her descriptions, she said that not even a hundred of herself would match him.

But it was only upon truly witnessing Brother Feng Yi's strength and seeing that instantaneous afterimage that Xixi realized just how formidable Brother Feng really was. That strength seemed to transcend the word 'strong', didn't it?

"You have grown up, Xiu Yi." Seeing that the boy had almost caught up to his own height, Feng Yi smiled with relief. Xiu Yi had three good companions accompanying him along the way. He felt envious and extremely gratified, "Take the first step, Xiu Yi. Let me see your growth," Feng Yi said with expectation, with arms crossed over his chest.

Xiu Yi seemed to want to say something, but suddenly Xixi lightly tugged on his sleeve, and the Red Ghost also silently shook her head at Xiu Yi, as if to say, don't do this; Brother Feng doesn't like small talk, he wants to see your growth, not a grown child who can't stop being coddled.

Xiu Yi nodded vigorously, without lingering, not even giving Feng Yi another glance, he walked out of the town with determined strides under everyone's watchful eyes.

"Hey, Kevin, where's your Bigfoot Vehicle?"

There, Kevin pointed in a direction, who would have thought this kid hid it so secretly, fearing it might be stolen. Such equipment all had hidden tracking systems.

Once in the vehicle, Xiu Yi didn't hesitate to take the driver's seat.

"Hey, this is my Bigfoot Vehicle."

"Cough, I... I am the leader, my word is law," Xiu Yi covered up his embarrassment, having never driven a Bigfoot Vehicle before, and without a strong argument, even his tone of voice softened a lot, causing Xixi in the back seat to giggle.

Kevin, however, didn't mind; actually, he did mind, but having a beauty beside him, he thought to himself that this might not be so bad after all. But as this young man was thinking this, suddenly he received a warning from Xiu Yi: "Let me tell you, brat, don't get any bad ideas about my sister."

Kevin was speechless; although Xixi was pretty and cute, he wasn't that sleazy.

After a roar of the engine, the Bigfoot Vehicle started instantly and disappeared into the depths of the jungle...

Protected by the armor, there were no worries for the four inside the vehicle. Guided by the covert location Kevin mentioned, they drove directly towards that direction without stopping, leaving behind a trail of smoke that wouldn't dissipate.
