Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 847: Uninvited Guests

Hugo tried to stand and walk but collapsed suddenly, managing to catch the edge of the bed to avoid major injury to his body.

"The clone has already been successfully transplanted, but it will take some time to fully recover. Just rest quietly for now."

"Thank, thank you!" Hugo looked at his brand-new legs in disbelief, the excitement written clearly on his face, unable to speak.

"It was just a fair trade, remember? We signed a contract beforehand," Blade Warrior said as she waved a booklet in front of Hugo.

Even now, Hugo had not understood what contract he had signed initially; he only remembered being coaxed into signing some agreement with Feng Yi by this beautiful woman.

Blade Warrior explained that it wasn't much, just a shortage of temporary workers, accompanied by finding a bodyguard. Of course, the term was not short, but she had been too embarrassed to disclose the length to Hugo and had avoided the subject.

Hugo smiled bitterly as he still could not walk. His leg muscles needed to slowly regain activity in a wheelchair, hence Yita naturally became the medical personnel.

The two of them chatted idly about various topics but when they stepped outside, Hugo was utterly shocked by the scene before him! Looking around, there were thousands of people in sight, along with various modern, navigable excavation equipment and transport machines digging tirelessly, as everyone seemed to be continuously digging the foundation.

"What is this...?"

"Mimetic magnetic field project."

"What does a mimetic magnetic field project mean?" Unfortunately, his physics teacher had died early, and Hugo had no clue what it meant.

Through Yita's story, Hugo roughly understood that this area would soon be transformed into a miniature ecological system. The outer layer would adhere to double the mimetic gravity, and the core would compress and expand under nuclear fusion, supported by artificial technology, nearly identical to the concept of a human heart pumping blood. It was only necessary to maintain the oxygen cycle to achieve the effects of magnetic field pulsations. As the magnetic field circulated, it could sustain the ecosystem's atmosphere and effectively block high-energy particles from solar storms with radiation. The oxygen production problem would be addressed through algal plants and a carbon dioxide recycling system.

Hugo roughly understood, and he asked Yita, "Why do this?"

"The world is about to face an apocalypse." Yita replied in an emotionless tone.

From their time together, Hugo could tell that Yita was not someone who joked around, but he still asked, "You must be joking with me."

"No."

"Then where did you get the evidence from?"

"I'm sorry, sir, the mission's secrecy level is classified as super S top-secret. I'm not authorized to disclose more substantial information to you."

"Heh, you capitalists, always having too much money to spend," Hugo muttered incredulously to the sky, not believing any of this. Who would bother with such a huge project unless they were bored, except for super corporations like the Combat Power Tester company? Most likely, there were not many other companies in the world that could afford to invest in such a place.

"What's wrong with capitalism? The money is all mine, and I can spend it however I want," Blade Warrior suddenly changed her demeanor, as if after performing the transplant surgery on Hugo, her confidence had greatly increased.

Holy shit, Hugo thought, lacking in education and typically just blurting out "holy shit," followed by a stunned silence...This woman—cough, this beauty changed her expression faster than flipping a page, and Blade Warrior had left him with the impression that she was a beautiful, graceful, gentle, and virtuous woman with a naturally emanating ladylike charm. Who knew that after just curing his limp, she would switch to such a demeanor so quickly. The rumors Feng Yi covertly told him were not false at all; he had complained initially that Feng Yi was too picky, but it turned out she really was a bitch.

But, whether she's a bitch or not, let's set that aside. After all, she had given him new legs, and with such a great favor, what could Hugo say? He could only awkwardly smile to show his apology, "Heh, it was just a passing remark."

"I heard everything you said, though. What you said may be true or may not be true, please do not mention this again.

"Of course, of course. But where has General Feng gone?"

"Him...?" Blade Warrior paused for a moment, "I don't know, and please, don't bring him up in front of me anymore. Well, that's it..."

Muttering softly to herself, Blade warrior turned away, looking somewhat dejected.

Recalling the scene when he first met Feng Yi on Death Planet, they had fought side by side, depending on each other for life and death. Looking back, time really spares no one!

Indeed, human life is too fragile, even though ant-aging drugs have been developed, they can only maintain youth to a certain extent, improving average lifespan, but they still cannot inhibit the endless cellular division and metabolic processes—cancer, brain domain, mental awareness, are still the biggest problems humans have not yet conquered thoroughly.

In the prime-time news segment that evening, a news brief from Saudi instantly became a global topic of discussion. The message released by Kexiao in front of the media was tantamount to planetary destruction.

The news content was that Saudi would soon host a global Mecha competition, during which he would issue a sincere invitation to various countries under his personal name, as a mecha fighter.

As for the competition itself, it was not the main focus. Participation was key, as was fostering friendship, and this also served as a meaningful exchange following a peace declaration.

As for the saying "friendship first, competition second," that is in the eye of the beholder.
