Apocalypse: Hero of Potato Fields

Chapter 72: Go to the Seventh Floor

Pharmaceutical laboratory, third floor.

Lin Yi swung his sword, severing the heads of two zombie apes, ending their pain.

[Congratulations, you have reached level 7!]

[Reward earned: 2 Attribute Points]

The notification sounded in Lin Yi's mind, and without hesitation, he quickly added the Attribute Points to Agility.

Then, with a thought, he teleported the zombie corpses to the Shelter.

Just as he was about to head downstairs, Melanie's anxious voice suddenly came through the earpiece.

"Boss! Don't go downstairs, take another route!"

Without even asking anything, Lin Yi immediately turned and rushed towards the fourth floor.

Soon, a muffled vibration came from downstairs, followed by dozens of zombie apes appearing, wielding machetes, clawing and roaring.

The fourth floor seemed like the ninth layer of Hell.

Previously, there were about ten zombies here, but now only ten pools of blood remain, full of zombie remnants.

Fingers, palms, innards scattered everywhere, half-chewed, bloody, and gruesome.

Lin Yi speculated secretly in his heart that after the apocalypse arrived, the guards or the doctors here might have turned into zombies and then got attacked and devoured by some terrifying creature.

However, after carefully scouting around, he didn't find any threats.

Instead, he found two storage rooms.

After emptying the contents, Lin Yi instructed Melanie to bring Mark over.

Soon, the professor's voice came through the earpiece:

"Boss?"

"I'm trapped, there are dozens of monkeys chasing me downstairs, is there an escape route here?"

"The seventh floor has a special evacuation route. It was set up just in case the building was occupied."

"Understood!"

Lin Yi left the fourth floor and continued walking up the stairs.

Arriving on the fifth floor, he paused for a moment, then proceeded to the sixth floor in one breath.

According to Melanie's report, the creature in the container on the fifth floor was growing.

Originally cat-sized, now it's as big as a calf.

Knowing well the danger of such a creature, he decided not to seek trouble, pressing on to the sixth floor.

Per Mark's report, areas D2 and D3 on the sixth floor housed expensive equipment.

Following Melanie's guidance, he arrived at area D3, but the sight before him made his heart tighten.

Many zombies faced the wall, like frozen puppets, motionless.

Unwilling to take risks, Lin Yi swung his sword, beheading the closest zombie.

"Thud" sound.

The zombie's body fell to the ground, but eerily, the head hung suspended mid-air, as if held by an invisible hand.

The blood dripped drop by drop from the severed neck, emitting a pungent odor.

Immediately, a small tentacle extended out of the neck, groping in the air, seemingly searching for its lost body.

"Melanie?"

"Inside the walls... inside the walls, there are tentacles... all the walls have them! I saw it with the X-ray vision... oh my gawd, they're entwining the entire building!"

Seeing the tentacles begin to spread across the wall, Lin Yi hesitated only slightly, then rushed into area D3.

He raced against time to empty one storage room, then hurried to clear another.

After completing the task, he quickly headed to the seventh floor.

But upon arriving at the seventh floor, he abruptly halted; there were three zombies facing away from him.

These zombies had extraordinarily developed muscles, as though injected with excess hormones, stretching their clothes into shreds.

Their hair completely fell out, their heads covered with throbbing veins, looking particularly terrifying.

Lin Yi swung his One-handed Sword forward, forcefully slicing a zombie in half.

However, just like the situation on the sixth floor, the zombie's head floated in mid-air, and a tentacle emerged from inside, hissing threateningly.

At this moment, the other zombies seemed to be triggered by a switch, starting to slowly move, evidently reviving.

After teleporting back the dulled One-handed Sword to the Shelter, Lin Yi brought out another one, swung again, and another corpse fell to the ground.

Good grief!

Looking at the dulled One-handed Sword in his hand again, his arm was slightly numbed from the impact.

These zombies' muscles were too robust, the level 2 Black One-Handed Sword could barely cut through them, apparently needing to try a better Weapon.

While pondering, a strange "hiss hiss hiss" sound rang out not far away.

Lin Yi quickly turned around, only to see a zombie breaking free from the wall, its hideous appearance sending chills down the spine.

It repeatedly hissed at Lin Yi, terrifyingly its mouth remained closed, yet the sharp, ear-piercing sound bored straight into Lin Yi's ears.

"Hiss hiss hiss!" The zombie hissed louder, starting to wave its thick arms.

Its movements were quite rigid, seemingly adapting to this new body.

Yet, with a casual swing, a large piece of wall instantly sunk in, revealing its terrifying Attack Power.

Lin Yi dodged the zombie's clumsy attack once more, taking advantage of the gap to slice at the zombie's armpit.

The zombie's muscles tightened, causing the sword to get stuck.

The blade barely cut into the bone!

"Check this out!"

Lin Yi shouted, a level 3 sword instantly appearing in his left hand, thrusting fiercely into the zombie's eye.

With a cry of agony, the zombie's movements came to an abrupt stop, as if lifeless.

Dead?

No way!

As this thought flashed through Lin Yi's mind, he immediately rejected it. Zombies should feel no pain, yet why did it scream in agony?

And what's with the writhing tentacles on the ground?

Lin Yi pulled out the sword from the zombie's corpse, seeing countless tentacles writhing inside the wound, hissing eerily like unsightly maggots.

A strong sense of unease surged within him, it was his Skill—Combat Reflex, issuing a warning.

Without any hesitation, he turned and sprinted towards the seventh floor.

At the same time, Melanie's urgent voice came through the earpiece: "Get out of there, boss! There's something unknown in that wall, it's coming out!"

As the words fell, a booming explosion sounded.

A massive fleshy tentacle burst through the wall, concrete shards spraying everywhere, madly stabbing towards Lin Yi.

Relying on Combat Reflex, Lin Yi timely ducked down, escaping danger, but before he could catch his breath—

Boom! Boom! Boom!

One tentacle after another began breaking through walls one following the other, shooting in his direction.

A series of classic Asian curses echoed down the corridor, a shotgun appeared in Lin Yi's hand instantly.

He abruptly halted his steps, donning sunglasses while turning, and fired without a second thought.

Bam! Bam!

The gunfire erupted continuously, the nearest tentacle instantly blasted into three segments.

As proven, these explosive bullets combined with sunglasses had a significant effect on these monster-terror creatures.

Lin Yi embarked on a bloody combat journey, battling from the sixth floor all the way to the seventh.

Along the way, he severed who knows how many bizarre tentacles, the entire staircase seemed occupied by an octopus, filled with twisted tentacles.

Finally arriving at the seventh floor, the last one.

Lin Yi urged, "Where to now, professor? Hurry up, quick..."
