Just as a certain fan said, Norlin FC were still losing despite pulling one goal back, the only difference was that now they could see hope, hope for a comeback.
The match was currently in the fifty-fifth minute, and although Unique FC were still playing with good composure, Norlin FC's midfield was starting to cause them a lot of trouble, all thanks to Lopez.
At a certain point in the game, the guy almost scored a brilliant solo goal, luckily, Dave dashed out in time to clear the ball on the edge of the box.
Catherine was right, Lopez was dangerous and this was just the beginning.
With Unique FC now insisting on holding onto the ball for longer periods, Norlin FC were being quite guarded with their play to prevent their opponent from finding any gaps to take advantage of them.
After failing to get through Lopez, Martinez sent the ball rolling back toward Jonas who found Dennison immediately closing down on him.
The fullback feigned shooting the ball before he sent it rolling back to Dave.
"Sends it rolling back to the goalkeeper."
There wasn't really anything exciting going on on the pitch at the moment but the atmosphere was heavenly in the stadium with both sides of the fans trying to outdo the other.
Norlin FC fans had just found the hope for a possible comeback and were urging their team to keep doing what they were doing, while Unique FC fans were giving their team the morale to end the match on a high note, just like they started.
As expected, Sai Ahmed came charging forward even before the rolling ball got to Dave's feet.
This time Dave didn't try to play any tricks as he knew what was more important.
He sent the ball rolling to Aima who immediately booted it to Frankie with a flick.
"Unique FC trying to get that ball as far away from their goal area as possible. They're not taking any chances here as this Norlin FC team seems to be much more alive than they were in the first half with Lopez now in the picture." Jim articulated.
Frankie didn't give anybody the chance to get close to him before rolling the ball to Merino who was just in front of him.
Merino was the striker alongside Gregory, but unlike Gregory, who was always pushing forward, he preferred to drop deep most of the time to help his teammates build up the attack. This was also something Norman approved of.
Merino quickly dashed forward, not giving the midfielder close to him the chance to get close to him.
"Merino running deep into the opposition half. Can they maybe make something out of this?"
The answer to that was in the hands of Merino himself.
He spotted Henry quickly dashing toward the left at that moment with an opposing player right behind him and then there was Ferran following closely behind from the left. He was left unmarked as the opposing player that was behind him had just dashed forward.
Merino didn't need to think too much and just sent the ball flying toward the left before the players on his trail could close him down.
This was where the accident happened.
The forward intended to send the ball to Ferran, who was in a free position, but he seemed to have mis-hit the ball, causing the trajectory to fly toward Henry instead.
In a normal situation, the player in front of Henry could have easily cleared the ball and prevented all danger, but unfortunately, he ended up missing the ball, causing it to Henry, who was right at the D box at the moment.
"Oh, what a clumsy mistake."
It was a clumsy mistake, but it didn't take long for the opposing player to recover.
He dashed toward Henry before the attacking midfielder could do anything with the ball and it didn't take long before the two of them were struggling right in front of the D box.
Henry stubbornly spun with the ball, refusing to give it up and it was after that spin that he gave the ball a push, masterfully getting it through the opposing player's legs.
Why did he decide to kick the ball?
Because he had already seen Frankie closing in to help him out.
As expected, as soon as he released the ball, Frankie showed up from behind to grab hold of it.
The defender right in front of him tried to stop him just as his left foot touched the ball but the midfielder didn't give him the chance, sending the ball through his legs before lightly grabbing his shoulder as support to get past him.
"Oh, my that's two consecutive nutmegs from different players. Can Frankie keep going" Steve commented.
"No, I think he's going to shoot!"
The midfielder had no intention of dribbling another player after getting past the first one so he did what was most plausible to him.
He quickly shifted the ball to the left before curling it toward the top bin with his left foot.
The goalkeeper reacted fast enough, diving toward the ball. But, it wouldn't have mattered if he just did nothing as the ball ended up hitting the crossbar before flying over for a goal kick.
A series of gasps swept through the stadium, and following that were Unique FC fans sighing in disappointment.
"It's Unique FC Vs the woodwork once again, Norlin FC's divine helper pulling strings once again."
Seeing the ball fly over just like that, Frankie couldn't help but sigh and shake his head in frustration before quickly turning to run back.
Norlin FC mustn't be given the chance to pull any fast ones on them.
It didn't take the goalkeeper long to send the ball flying out and it took Ferran even less time to recover it from an aerial duel.
As he was facing his goalpost when he got hold of the ball, he pulled his right foot back to send rolling back to Martinez.
Unfortunately, before he could hit the ball, the right back right behind him rushed forward with a sliding tackle, hitting his leg while slightly hitting the ball and causing him to produce a weak pass.
This was Norlin FC's chance as Lopez quickly pounced on the ball and using the little momentum the ball still had left, he swiftly got past Martinez, heading toward the goalpost with great determination.
Norlin FC fans burst into cheers as they had a premonition that something was about to happen.
They were not wrong as it didn't take long for Frankie to get past Aima with a neat body faint while taking the most minimal touches.
Unfortunately, Adolf was still rushing back or things wouldn't have been this easy for the midfielder.
Dave didn't even have the time to react before he was right in front of him and he also didn't get to react before he slotted the ball home from the bottom right corner.
This was the second time in a match that the goalkeeper was glued to a spot while conceding a goal and it was still the same culprit.
"Can you believe that?!" Jim screamed. "This guy is single-handedly changing the tone of this match."
Norlin FC fans were screaming and jumping as Lopez got pounced on by his teammates with a smile on his face.
In contrast, the Unique FC players looked quite frustrated and dejected. Their three-goal lead was now down to just one.
<I said it, this guy is quite a handful>
