The Five Old Lords want to seize the Authority of Qi, facing dangers possibly even greater than contending for the Six Imperials, for this truly opposes the Heavenly Stem, vying for power with the Taoist Monarchs of various Taoist Schools, a pure path of self-destruction.
Even though they contest power with the Six Imperials of the Heavenly Court, their opponents at the level of Taoist Monarchs also have the support of some Taoist Monarchs from the Taoist Schools.
However, wanting to compete with the Taoist Monarchs of the Taoist Schools for the Authority of Qi is truly courting disaster, with no one able to help them in the slightest.
Although they are known as the Ancestor of the Five Qi, they can only manage the Authority of the Five Qi in their hands. As for the other orthodoxies established within the Taoist Schools, like the Dragon and Tiger Talisman, Shenxiao Pill Dao, and the like, although these originate from the Qi Dao, they declare their own lineages and do not heed the decrees of the Five Old Lords.
Even if those Taoist Monarchs are not ones to do things with absolute finality, giving them some leeway, attempting these deeds surely requires competing with some of the powerful figures in the Taoist Schools.
It could be said that after trying various paths, the quickest effective method seems to be collecting the corresponding Authorities of the Five Elements, thereby proving oneself as a Taoist Monarch, breaking the current stalemate to emerge from it.
As for the Authorities of the Five Elements in this world, if one speaks of those in possession of the most, within the Heavenly Court apart from the Five Virtue Star Lords, there seems to be none others.
Though nominally, the Five Old Lords still count as the superiors of the Five Virtue Star Lords, with the domineering and strong-willed nature of the Five Virtue Star Lords, they don't even heed the orders of such Imperial Honors as the Jade Emperor and Great Emperor Ziwei, why would they pay attention to the Five Old Lords?
In terms of the rank of Divine Positions within the Heavenly Court, although the Five Virtue Star Lords are slightly inferior to the Five Old Lords, in terms of Authorities held, the disparity is as vast as heaven and earth. The Five Virtue Star Lords possess genuine power in their Divine Positions, renowned figures within the Heavenly Court.
In terms of strength, both the Five Old Lords and the Five Virtue Star Lords exist in the Sixth Heaven of True Immortals, and among them, the Fire Virtue Star Lord is even a Taoist Monarch, a formidable entity even several Imperial Honors in the Heavenly Court yield to by three parts, leaving no room for the Five Old Lords' face.
It must be said that among the Five Old Lords, each one's situation varies. Taking the Authority from the Five Virtue Star Lords is no easy feat. The Fire Virtue Star Lord, a Taoist Monarch, is a formidable entity that the Southern Pill Spirit True Old Heavenly Monarch, who wields the Fire Element Authority, cannot touch.
Given the strength of the Fire Virtue Star Lord, he is just an existence in the Sixth Heaven of True Immortals for now, but even if he one day proves himself as a Taoist Monarch, facing such a terrifying Taoist Monarch, he wouldn't even have the qualifications to challenge.
The remaining Old Lords, though their opponents are not as formidable as the Fire Virtue Star Lord, are not easy to provoke either. The Great White Star Lord of Metal Virtue, Water Virtue Star Lord, and Earth Virtue Star Lord, each emerged from a top-tier immortal sect with support from a Taoist Monarch, or they themselves possess immense strength with the backing of powerful subordinates. Each one is a formidable figure, and taking them down would not be easy.
So, comprehensively observing, the Wood Virtue Star Lord, targeted by the Qingling Primordial Lord among the Old Lords, being an Independent Practitioner with no backing, counts as the easiest among those to confront.
Amusingly, a True Immortal of the Sixth Heaven stands at the pinnacle within the Realms of Heavenly Seas, yet among the targets of the Five Old Lords, he is relatively the easiest to handle.
Yet, even being the easiest is but a relative term. Even for the Qingling Primordial Lord, attempting to tackle the Wood Virtue Star Lord to seize the Wood Dao Authority from his grasp is in no way simple.
The Authority of the Wood Dao within this world is almost entirely held by him, the Wood Virtue Star Lord, and the Ju Mang Ancestor Witch. Others, even if they cultivate the Great Path of Wood, possess limited Wood Dao Authority due to their weaker strength.
Though gathering all the Authority of the Great Path of Wood from the True Immortals might not be inferior to any one of them, perhaps even with some remaining.
However, for this method, none of them chose to pursue it, and they even shunned the idea the moment it crossed their minds.
Not to mention the tedious process consuming unknown amounts of energy and time, the implications behind it would be unfavorable for the three of them.
The Great Path of Wood, a fundamental Tao in existence, is cultivated by countless cultivators. Numerous True Immortals certify their existence by this Path, with its adherents unknown in number.
Among them, the vast majority of Wood Dao True Immortals derive their understanding and so-called authority following in their footsteps, being merely extensions of their Wood Authority, fundamentally lacking uniqueness.
The uniqueness of Dao Authority is correct; each Tao's authority is limited. Once a powerful individual takes hold of the Dao Authority, others cannot vie for it.
However, this pertains to the authority that reaches the peak or the authority that touches the origin of Wood, which can directly understand and influence the source of laws, hence holding uniqueness.
But it doesn't mean that every Tao has so few authorities. With countless cultivators and unknown numbers of True Immortals in the world, if this were the case, it would wholly sever future generations' paths of cultivation.
Beyond the initial Origin Authority of each Tao, many derivative authorities exist. These too can be used to understand the Great Tao, harnessing its power, albeit with somewhat lesser effect.
If the initial Dao Origin of a Tao were likened to a company, the initial Origin Authority would be the founding shares of this company. The ownership of these shares determines one's status within the company of this Dao Origin.
However, the composition of a company consists of more than the shareholders holding founding shares. Besides these shareholders, high, mid, and lower-tier managers and executors exist.
These managers and executors, though without original shares of the Dao Origin, lacking direct contact with the Origin to alter some foundation rules and change its goals, they do hold certain permissions, enabling them to utilize the company's power to accomplish many tasks, thereby acquiring benefits for themselves.
A Taoist Monarch is akin to the one holding the most founding shares of a Tao, able to influence the Dao Origin through these shares, setting goals and plans.
According to current research by many Taoist Monarchs, when a strong figure understands the Tao they cultivate and holds a tenth of its Authority, it equates to gaining Monarch's permissions, stepping into the Realm of a Taoist Monarch.
In essence, ideally, each Tao can accommodate ten positions for Taoist Monarchs.
Of course, this is merely ideal, for human nature is never satisfied. Every power that attains the Monarch position desires more shares, discontent with holding just one-tenth.
It's known from these Monarchs' studies that one-tenth is the baseline. If one's command of authority and familiarity with laws fall below this level, the loss of the Monarch position becomes highly likely; though the power's might remains, the position of a Monarch is lost.
Although such a fall from position among Monarchs hasn't occurred yet due to their sparse numbers, nobody dares to claim it will never happen.
With the flourishing of the world and the increasing number of powers, inevitably, the number of Monarchs will increase as well. If someone forcibly seizes the authority in one's hand, stripping it away, what then?
