Sixth Ring Wizard

Chapter 242: News

Asuna had always envied the children who could attend the academy; she had never set foot inside one.

While her peers were living under their parents' care and attending school, she was already struggling for a living.

So everything before her felt very beautiful and relaxing to Asuna, and she envied those people, too.

Herag noticed Asuna's expression, patted her head, and smiled.

Asuna turned to see Herag, smiled shyly, and then tightened her grip on his hand.

Herag took out a Talisman Stone, wanting to check the messages.

The first one was from Lillian, who had left many messages.

"Lillian has already gone to the Land of Dawn... even faster than me."

After reading, Herag realized Lillian was no longer in the Barren Land; he had hoped to chat with her.

Lillian went to Augustus Academy in the Land of Dawn, which is the true power behind the Barren Land's Augustus Academy, the real Augustus Academy.

Due to the barrier between the Land of Dawn and the Barren Land, it was no longer possible to use the Magic Net to communicate here.

But Lillian left another Talisman Stone number, her Talisman number in the Land of Dawn.

Once Herag reached the Land of Dawn and obtained a Talisman there, he could continue to contact her.

Herag memorized the number quietly, then began to check other messages.

Next was a message from Bessie.

After glancing at it, Herag found that Bessie seemed to treat him like a tree hole.

The number of messages reached into the hundreds!

The content was mainly some of Bessie's daily life shares.

Even though Bessie knew Herag couldn't reply right now, she still sent him messages.

Herag couldn't read all these messages quickly, only leaving them for later.

Since someone took the trouble to send so many messages, Herag felt that not reading them would be letting Bessie down.

Herag opened Bessie's chat box and sent a message: "I'm back."

The Talisman Stone lit up instantly, and Bessie replied at lightning speed: "You're back? Are you hurt?"

"No, everything's fine. I've earned the qualification to enter the Land of Dawn and joined the Serlandir organization." Herag replied.

"Glad you're not hurt! I knew you could do it. I don't know much about the wizard organization in the Land of Dawn, but it must be powerful. If you become a powerful wizard in the future, don't forget to pull me up." Bessie joked.

"If you want, I can pull you up right now. Don't forget, I can bring a spouse into the Land of Dawn." Herag said.

"I'd love to, but I have a contract with the Moonlight Forest for the next hundred years, let's talk then." Bessie sighed.

Back then, she had no choice; signing a contract with the Moonlight Forest was the only option.

Now, even if she wanted to leave with Herag, she couldn't because of the contract.

Herag thought for a moment: "When I'm strong enough, I'll help you resolve the contract issue."

Contracts like these are constraints, rules for weak wizards.

But if you're strong enough, everything becomes negotiable; the strength of rules is weak against the strong.

"You're promising the impossible! Well, I'll wait for that day when you become strong enough." Bessie couldn't help but smile on the other end of the Talisman Stone.

What Herag said seemed far away, but Bessie felt that one day it would come true.

"It's not an empty promise; it's a commitment." Herag replied earnestly.

"Yeah, I believe you. You must be tired coming back, get some rest." Bessie replied.

After ending the brief chat with Bessie, Asuna curiously leaned over and asked, "What is this?"

"This is a Talisman Stone, a communication tool based on the Magic Net. With this, you can transmit information over long distances." Herag explained.

Asuna touched the Talisman Stone and marveled, "Such an incredible magic design."

While there were plenty of casters in the Elf Plane, nothing like the Magic Net existed, nor had anyone heard of something similar.

"When we get to the Land of Dawn, I'll get you one, there's no need for it here since we won't be staying long." Herag said.

"Okay." Asuna nodded obediently.

Then Herag opened Blake's chat box: "Mr. Blake, we're back."

Not long after, Blake replied: "You're back? How are things?"

"I've joined the Serlandir wizard organization, and David and Reese have also passed the examination." Herag replied.

"That's wonderful!" Blake was so excited that he didn't reply for a while.

This was tremendous news for the Cheqi family; two main lineage members entering the Land of Dawn could elevate the Cheqi family's status by several levels instantly.

Blake later replied: "I'll send someone to pick you up right away. David and Reese will have separate pickups to bring them back home as there are other arrangements for them, you head straight back to Black Rock Valley."

"No problem, I'll wait at Augustus Academy." Herag said.

"Soon, our people are nearby, waiting all along." Blake replied.

Blake had estimated Herag and the others would return around this time, so he had prepared the people and a carriage for the pickup early.

He was originally quite worried, fearing that all three could be lost inside.

Because some not-so-good news had already been coming from inside for a while.

Many wizards from the Barren Land who entered for various reasons died in the Elf Plane.

Their messages were released posthumously, retrieving the bodies if they could, they'd send them back.

For wizards whose bodies couldn't be retrieved or didn't exist anymore, only death notifications came back.

This past year, many such news trickled back, it was catastrophic.

Blake had kept an eye on the messages inside, not hearing from Herag and the others meant good news, but his heart remained on edge.

When Herag finally messaged him, Blake's excitement was uncontrollable.

Upon hearing that all three passed their examinations, Blake was thoroughly thrilled; he knew exactly what this meant for the Cheqi family.

Before long, two carriages from the Cheqi family arrived at the Augustus Academy entrance, each guarded by a Crystalization Wizard.

Herag and the others were now the most precious members of the Cheqi family, and no mishap could be afforded.

Blake jumped off one of the carriages, patted Herag's shoulder upon seeing him, and exclaimed, "Thank you!"

His feelings were still impossible to calm, filled with endless gratitude for Herag.

Blake clearly understood that all three passing the examination meant Herag had performed exceptionally well, taking good care of David and Reese.

Therefore, Blake was incredibly grateful to Herag and felt exceedingly fortunate that Larry had taken in such an excellent student.
