Forced to Marry a Female Billionaire CEO

Chapter 324: Numbness

Xu Ke stepped into the inner room.

At that moment, Wong Qifu was looking at him. "How does it feel?"

Xu Ke pondered for a moment before saying, "Shouldn't I be the one asking you that?"

He knew what Wong Qifu was asking about. It was none other than how he felt after dealing with Wong Liqing and Wang Yu. He did feel a trace of satisfaction, but more than that, he was worried about Wong Qifu's feelings.

"I'm fine." Wong Qifu shook her head, her face calm, but her gaze wavered slightly when she met his eyes directly.

Xu Ke sighed, moved forward, and sat beside her. "It's okay. We're in private now; no one can see."

Dealing with one's relatives was an extremely difficult thing to do, especially since Wang Yu and Wong Liqing were among the first people to stand by Wong Qifu. Even though she had held a high position for a long time, she was only human; how could she possibly be unfeeling?

"What are you thinking about..." Wong Qifu smiled. "What does it matter if anyone can see? Even if I'm a bit sad, it's only because they chose to stand against me. As for dealing with them, I don't feel sad at all."

Xu Ke nodded, hesitating. He looked as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he just said, "...Then that's good."

"Don't be silly. This has nothing to do with you, so you don't need to feel guilty," Wong Qifu said, seeing his reaction. "Even without you, they've wanted to strike out on their own for a long time. The mere fact that they intended to use me in their conflict with Wang Tianlu for their own benefit is enough to reveal their wolfish ambition."

Xu Ke nodded. "I understand."

"Good." Wong Qifu didn't elaborate further, instead changing the subject. "The Martial Alliance Envoy from Long Capital should arrive tonight. He might find an excuse to take Chang Yi and Sun Luo away directly. Even if he can't get them off scot-free, he'll certainly ensure their punishment is insignificant. He won't let the Martial Alliance restrict their freedom."

Upon hearing this, Xu Ke's brow furrowed slightly. According to the Martial Alliance's rules, actions like those of Chang Yi and Sun Luo warranted at least two to three years of confinement under the watch of a powerful Martial Artist. Their personal freedom would be restricted, just like being in prison. But since this Martial Alliance Envoy was coming, he would never just stand by and watch those two be locked up. If he did, the reputation of the Long Capital Martial Alliance would suffer. After all, the people at the top would never be satisfied with the main branch being snubbed by a sub-branch.

Troublesome... Xu Ke's eyes narrowed slightly. This person won't be easy to deal with.

"I'll have someone look into what excuses this Martial Alliance Envoy might use to intervene and see how we can counter them. You should go back and rest for now." Wong Qifu looked at Xu Ke and gently touched the area that had been bandaged the previous night.

"I'm actually fine..." Xu Ke began instinctively, but he was silenced by a single look from Wong Qifu.

"Go back with Uncle Wu this time, and don't run around," Wong Qifu instructed.

Xu Ke obediently nodded. "Don't worry. Even if you didn't ask Uncle Wu to come with me, I would have suggested it myself."

Wong Qifu said indifferently, "That would be for the best."

Xu Ke was speechless.

"Are you confident you can control this Tang Yingchang?" Wong Qifu recalled Tang Yingchang's statement during the meeting about wanting to become a member of the Wang Family Clan, despite having a different surname.

"I'll poison him, don't worry," Xu Ke mused. "Having one more ally will be a great help to our situation."

"Then that's fine." Seeing his confidence, Wong Qifu didn't ask any more questions.

On a normal day, Xu Ke and Wong Qifu might have shared a flirtatious moment in the office, but neither the time nor the place was appropriate now. So, Xu Ke left the office briskly with Wang Wu.

On the way out, he encountered two people. One was Feng Wei. When Xu Ke had first arrived at the Wang Family Mansion, he had given Ye Fan's phone to Feng Wei, hoping he could crack it and uncover some secrets of the Ye Family. Now, Feng Wei took out the phone and said, "It's clean. It's just a new phone."

Hearing this, Xu Ke felt a bit disappointed. He patted Feng Wei's shoulder. "Thank you for your hard work."

Feng Wei's hair was still a mess. "No problem, it's my duty."

Not far from Feng Wei, another person was watching Xu Ke with a complex expression. His name was Pan Qi, and he was recognized as having the highest level of computer skills in the Wang Family Squad. He had previously been under Deng Mingjie and had ignored Xu Ke's orders. He never imagined that Deng Mingjie would fall so easily to Xu Ke's offensive... and that Xu Ke hadn't even been primarily targeting Deng Mingjie, but rather Wong Liqing, simply taking care of Deng Mingjie in passing.

Therefore, Pan Qi was terrified. He was afraid Xu Ke would hold a grudge and come looking for trouble.

But Xu Ke wasn't that petty; he had already forgotten Pan Qi even existed. He wouldn't have even remembered if Wang Wu hadn't reminded him. He had initially intended to say hello, but seeing the terror on Pan Qi's face, Xu Ke dismissed the idea. It was better to avoid making people think he was up to no good.

Later, Xu Ke asked Feng Wei if there was anything he needed his help with. After all, Feng Wei had helped him when he was unconscious, on the condition that Xu Ke would return the favor. But Feng Wei hadn't decided on anything yet, so Xu Ke didn't press him.

They quickly left the Wang Family Mansion. Wong Qifu departed for the Wang Family Corporation, while Xu Ke headed straight for the Dapeng Trade Association. He had something related to Ye Fan that he needed Duan Chongfeng to handle.

「At 2:30 p.m., Dapeng Trade Association.」

"I've handled this for you. Fair market price, honest to young and old." Duan Chongfeng placed a black bank card in front of Xu Ke. "A total of forty million."

Xu Ke had come to see Duan Chongfeng for the express purpose of quickly cashing in the Gold Notes he was holding.

"What about the money I owe you?" Xu Ke asked as he took the card.

Duan Chongfeng gave him a sidelong glance. "Are you planning on backing out of helping me?"

"Of course not," Xu Ke shook his head.

Duan Chongfeng chuckled. "Well, that settles it then. Why are we talking about who owes whom? Can you really call the payment for a house call a debt?"

Xu Ke laughed.

"By the way, how's your injury?" Duan Chongfeng asked, noticing Xu Ke wasn't in a hurry to leave.

Xu Ke felt his body. "It's not a big problem. I feel like it's almost completely healed."

He had been telling the truth when he told Wong Qifu he was fine. It was just that she didn't believe him, and there was nothing he could do about it.

Hearing this, Duan Chongfeng's relaxed expression instantly turned to one of dumbfounded shock. "Are you shooting a movie? Damn it, you recovered in the blink of an eye?" The curse slipped out, showing just how astonished he was.

"It's not that exaggerated. It's been over a day, after all," Xu Ke said with a smile.

Duan Chongfeng was speechless. Isn't over a day still an exaggeration?

But then he thought about Xu Ke's background and cultivation level, and he let it go.

Forget it... It's probably not that big of a deal. Duan Chongfeng thought to himself that sooner or later, he would have to accept the reality that Xu Ke frequently did the unimaginable. People get numb eventually... I just wonder how many more incredible things Xu Ke has to do before he's finally willing to take a rest.
