From a Talentless nobody to An SSS Class Dragon

Chapter 156: Solo Adventure (4)

This has definitely been an educational experience with Ally but I don't think it would do me any good to stay here for too long. There's a lot that I still need to get done, especially after learning about the demon realms.

The monarch of chaos really has been working hard to make my life a pain in the ass. Not that it was part of his intentions since he probably barely gives a damn about me.

I think it is about time to get back to clearing these floors, the girls are already waiting on me the way it is. I also have a lot of killing to do.

Strength is earned after all.

"I appreciate the stories, that'll be enough for right now. I'll see you later at some point I'm sure." I say while standing up.

"Are you sure? I can tell you more..." Ally replies with a bit of sadness in her voice.

"I'm positive. I'll happily listen more when I finish my job." I assure her before leaving for the next door.

It didn't take me long to get back to clearing floors. It was just the same process over and over again until I reach the bosses. There hasn't been anything unique in quite some time.

Nobody worth thinking about in all that time clearing floors. It would've been a lot more interesting if the girls were still with me for this journey.

[70] Search for Purpose.

I haven't really been able to find out what these floors have for me so maybe this floor will give me some purpose finally. Something that isn't just me climbing for strength alone.

Doesn't it even matter if that's all I'm climbing for though? To get strength while clearing this tower to keep others from dying.

I don't want others to die meaningless deaths just for the sake of a damn guild.

There's just no way to justify their deaths when I don't know if you can even leave the tower after entering. It has to be possible after reaching that city though, otherwise that guy wouldn't have left.

Still one of the strangest encounters I've had since I didn't think cities like Kairox still existed after all these years. He also looked like he had some interesting modifications to his body.

It doesn't matter though.

This floor was covered in snow for as far as the eye could see, all except for a giant monolith in the middle of the floor. No reason for me to hesitate, I made my way over to the monolith to see if there was anything to it.

After a few moments I made it to the monolith and I could see lots of strange symbols all over it. There was a lot about to it that I didn't understand a thing about.

But within a couple of seconds it begins to light up before someone comes out from it.

A man with long white hair, a golden oni mask with horns pertruding from the top, white wings, and an all white trench coat was now standing before me.

These tower floors really like throwing random ass enemies at me, something that I don't really want to deal with. Every one of these guys have been absolutely pointless in my climb.

"Do you talk or will you just be fighting me?" I ask with a serious tone.

"So you have to clear a tower. I've done it before, we can talk before anything else happens." He responds with a calm, yet serious tone as well.

Another talking fest with some random ass guy that I could care less about, whatever. Every other floor up until this point was all fighting anyway so this will be something at least.

We both took a seat at the edge of the monolith.

"Go ahead, tell me your story weird guy." I say with a bit of irritation in my voice.

"The name is Haru. But yes I'll tell you a bit about me." He replies calmly.

(He begins to tell his story.)

A long time ago I used to be a hero, one that helped destroy the demon lord in my world. That was great, except for a curse that was placed upon me.

No one knew anything about me or that I even existed anymore so I was forgotten by the world.

What use is a forgotten S class hero like myself? That's what I used to think until I finally got an opportunity to make myself useful again.

I surpassed limits that most only dreamed of passing in my world, making me one of the strongest heroes of all time. It didn't matter though since I was basically killed by an angry god.

He sentenced me to a tower and I didn't understand anything about it for the longest time but after clearing it... I found myself back in yet another one.

I thought I'd finally be able to return to my world but it was all a cruel lie that was given to me to make me think I won.

"So what are you expecting from me?" I ask with a bit of confusion.

"Just keep listening, alright." He responds.

My hope is that I can get back to my world after dealing with whatever this tower wants from me. I don't know who you are or what your goal is but I know that I don't want to be stuck here.

I have people waiting for me to return... Well, maybe not since they probably think I'm dead.

We'll probably have to fight but maybe it'll lead to me returning to my world if I win against you. I haven't had an opportunity to fight at all in what feels like years.

(He finishes talking.)

This guy sounds like he might be a pain in the ass and his whole story was boring. I don't really think I care to find out what he's capable of.

My scales are already formed throughout my arms, and I know I have plenty of strength to handle this fight. Ba-thump. Ba-thump.

"Let's get this over with then." I say before immediately standing up and backing away.

My wings form instantly and I can feel my vision distort a bit more than usual, this guy was definitely going to be a strong opponent.

"Agreed." Haru replies before drawing a sword.

A sword with a bright blue hue to it was all I could see him holding now, but some sort of pressure seems to be emitting from him now.

Blink. As soon as I blink he's already in front of me swinging his sword down towards me. Clang!!!!

I wasn't expecting to finally meet someone with insane speed like this but I guess anything is possible inside of these towers. The sword doesn't seem to be going through my scales but I can feel the damn pressure.

Crack!!!! Crumble!!!!! Crack!!! The ground around me broke a bit as he continues to put the pressure against my arms.

"Strong scales you got there. I have a lot more than this to use." Haru says with a serious tone.

"I don't care." I reply while beginning to push him back.

I go to throw a punch towards him but suddenly find my hand hitting some sort of invisible barrier. This guy really does have quite a bit of tricks to use but it won't help him win.

The power starts to surge even more throughout my body as I feel the pressure intensify in my chest. My power is also starting to rise more.

We won't be losing to this guy. No need to go easy, we'll be killing anyone who gets in our way here. Remember, we have goals to accomplish and girls waiting on us.

This guy is probably going to be just fine when we finish here.

You are completely right. I don't want to lose to some asshole who just told me his sad little backstory. I've got no time for that or any of this special trick crap.

The urge to kill gets even stronger and I can even see red radiating from my fist as it starts to pierce through the barrier before me. SHATTER!!!!

It shatters just like glass after even more force goes into it and I find myself punching him right across his face. WHAM!!!! It sends him flying across the snow fields as traces of blood paint the white snow.

Crash!!! He finally comes to a halt in the distance as he holds himself up with a sword.

I could see that half of the mask broke and he was just staring right at me with a blank, yet surprised expression. Maybe it worked on his enemies in the past, but not me.

That was what I thought until suddenly these giant gates came crashing down around me, massive, massive gates. They formed around me to make a perfectly circle.

Couldn't he just accept defeat and make this easy for me.
