Chapter 118: The Lightning Disaster of Azure Sky

(Beast Subjugation Arc)

Morning sunlight fell across the Azure Sky Sect training grounds. Disciples practiced sword forms in neat rows. The air was peaceful. Serene.

Then came the scream.

"WHO LET THAT THING INTO THE ARENA!?"

Li Ming froze mid-step as a golden blur shot past him — Lei Shan, tail crackling, horn glowing, sprinting straight through the practice field like a lightning bolt with legs.

The disciples scattered. One unlucky sword cultivator spun in panic and slashed the air — only for Lei Shan to leap over it, land on his shoulder, and let out a tiny brrrp of static.

The man's hair stood straight up.

Li Ming dragged a hand down his face. "Thunderbub…"

Bai Guo landed beside him, looking way too amused. "Your son's conquering the sect. You must be so proud."

"I'm about three seconds away from grounding him for eternity," Li Ming muttered, sprinting after the cub.

---

Lei Shan had already moved on.

He bounded onto a rock, puffing his chest proudly. A dozen disciples stood frozen around him.

The cub chirped once. A spark zipped out of his horn — and every sword in the area vibrated and stuck upright in the dirt like lightning rods.

The disciples just gaped.

Li Ming arrived, panting. "Don't move! He's experimenting!"

Bai Guo landed on his head. "Experimenting? Descendant, that's mass electroshock therapy!"

"Lei Shan!" Li Ming barked. "Down. Now."

The cub blinked. Then, with an adorable hum, he leapt off the rock… straight into Li Ming's arms.

Li Ming caught him, exhaling. "Good boy. No more zapping random people."

Lei Shan tilted his head innocently — then flicked his tail.

A spark zipped behind them and exploded a barrel of medicinal herbs into glowing dust.

Everyone stared.

Li Ming didn't even turn around. "That wasn't me."

Bai Guo clapped slowly. "The denial stage of parenting begins."

---

Later that day, Li Ming tried to train Lei Shan away from the sect grounds. They found an open field on the mountain's edge, far from any victims.

"Alright," Li Ming said. "You're not allowed near disciples until you learn restraint. Got it?"

Lei Shan chirped and nodded.

Li Ming smiled faintly. "Good. Let's start with Qi control. Focus your energy—don't—"

BZZZZZT!

A circle of lightning appeared around the cub. A second later, the ground cracked, grass turned to ash, and the mountain peak started smoking.

Bai Guo's jaw dropped. "You told him to focus. He focused the mountain into extinction."

Li Ming pinched the bridge of his nose. "He's… enthusiastic."

Lei Shan bounded up to him, eyes wide and proud, as if asking for praise.

Li Ming sighed, ruffling the cub's fur. "Fine. You're strong. But if the Sect Master asks, this was definitely a natural phenomenon."

Bai Guo nodded solemnly. "Of course. The mountain just exploded because of… humidity."

---

That night, Li Ming returned to the sect holding a snoring Lei Shan in his arms. His robes were singed, hair a mess, and there was a suspicious amount of smoke behind him.

Lan Yue passed by and stopped mid-step. "…What happened to the western peak?"

Li Ming blinked. "Erosion."

She stared. "Erosion doesn't leave claw marks."

Bai Guo coughed. "Advanced erosion."

Lei Shan yawned in his arms, letting out a small puff of static that lit up the corridor.

Li Ming groaned softly. "It's going to be a long month."

---

Azure Sky Sect's main hall — quiet, grand, and sacred.

At least, it was.

Inside, the elders sat around a polished jade table. Scrolls floated mid-air, recording spiritual fluctuations across the sect.

Sect Master Yun Hai stroked his beard with solemn grace. "Our recent cultivators have improved steadily. The western peak, however—"

BOOM.

The great doors flew open.

Everyone turned.

Li Ming stood there, panting, robes slightly charred, one eyebrow twitching. "Sect Master. Permission to—"

Before he could finish, a small golden blur shot between his legs, scampered straight into the hall, and jumped onto the Sect Master's table.

Lei Shan blinked at the gathered elders. Then, with perfect innocence, sat down.

There was silence.

Then his tail flicked.

Every jade lantern in the hall turned on at once — blazing bright enough to blind the front row of elders.

Sect Master Yun Hai blinked several times. "…What is that."

Bai Guo landed beside Li Ming, whispering, "Your son just electrified government property."

Li Ming's tone was flat. "I can see that."

---

Lei Shan chirped once, eyes sparkling. He sniffed the floating scrolls… and then licked one.

Immediately, the entire table glowed with golden runes. The hall's defensive formation — dormant for a hundred years — roared to life.

Blue light shot through the ceiling.

Elder Shen fell off his chair. "THE ANCIENT ARRAY'S AWAKENING! WHO ACTIVATED IT?!"

Li Ming raised a hand weakly. "Technically… my son."

The Sect Master's beard began glowing faintly blue.

Every elder turned.

Bai Guo murmured, "Congratulations, Sect Master. You've achieved enlightenment… facially."

---

Meanwhile, Lei Shan was delighted.

The glowing runes reflected in his eyes as he pranced across the table, leaving tiny static footprints that made the jade hum.

He looked so happy. So proud.

And then he sneezed.

A pulse of lightning zipped through the air — harmlessly — but every formation in the building activated at once.

The sect bell rang, the defensive wards flared, and hundreds of disciples outside panicked.

Somewhere far away, a mountain gate opened itself and closed again just for dramatic effect.

Sect Master Yun Hai stood frozen, his beard still glowing faintly. "…Li Ming."

Li Ming bowed so fast his forehead nearly hit the floor. "I deeply apologize, Sect Master. He's… enthusiastic."

Bai Guo added cheerfully, "He's a lightning prodigy! Untrained. Energetic. Slightly catastrophic."

"Remove. It. From. The. Hall."

"Yes, Sect Master!"

---

Li Ming scooped up Lei Shan, who purred happily as arcs of light ran down his fur.

He tried to exit quietly.

Unfortunately, Lei Shan spotted his own reflection in a bronze mirror by the door…

and chirped, proudly showing off a miniature bolt.

The mirror lit up, glowing like the sun.

The Sect Master's voice echoed through the entire building:

"LI MING."

Bai Guo sighed. "Descendant, if they don't demote you after this, it'll be because they ran out of ranks to drop you to."

---

Back at his courtyard, Li Ming set Lei Shan down on a patch of grass.

The cub rolled over, tail wagging, completely unaware of the bureaucratic disaster he'd caused.

Li Ming crouched beside him, exhausted. "You activated a grand formation, electrocuted three elders' beards, and nearly turned the main hall into a spirit furnace."

Lei Shan tilted his head, made a tiny "brrrp," and licked his hand.

Li Ming sighed. "...Fine. You're forgiven."

Bai Guo perched on a rock. "You're doomed."

"Yeah," Li Ming muttered, collapsing backward onto the grass. "But he's cute doom."

Lei Shan climbed onto his chest, curled up, and started glowing faintly like a warm lantern.

The night breeze carried faint laughter from the sect's distant courtyards — because by now, every disciple had heard about "Elder Li Ming's lightning baby."
