The group was escorted into the palace.
Elder Fox was a bit giddy. He couldn't help but think about the reward he would get from the King, after he had brought back Princess Milly.
By the corner, a frown donned Milly's face, she was visibly annoyed.
She only wanted to have a bit of freedom before getting here.
"Please follow me, the King would like to see his daughter immediately." One of the guards stepped forward, raising his weapon to block the others from stepping in.
"We want to see the King too and looking at the fact that we brought his daughter here should give us a leverage." One of the other elders stepped forward.
It wasn't Fox this time.
The man who has spoken looked a lot older than fox.
The guard had a bit of confliction on his face.
"Let them go with me." Milly said and that was when the guard sighed. He had to release them.
But then he looked back and he moved his weapons again.
"I can allow the rest of you pass through but these peasants would not be allowed into the chamber of the king."
Reith rolled his eyes when he heard what the guard said. He had no problem with it so without even waiting for anyone to defend him, he walked away.
When Milly saw his actions, she glared at the guard. "At least get a place for them to wait while we go ahead."
She demanded.
Seeing her reaction, the guard could only nod. "Yes Ma'am."
Reith, Max and Cassia were taken to a single room where they had to stay.
Reith allowed his eyes to take the design on the surroundings he was currently in.
This region was a lot different from the Azure Region.
"It seems like this place is a lot more advanced than the Azure Region."
Hearing his words, Max rolled his eyes. "The Azure Region deals mostly with advanced technology unlike many other regions that tend to play around with the possibilities of magic."
"Oh?"
"Yeah, that's why you have two Alliance building here. This region is way bigger than the Azure Region so magic is needed to make things look better because of the size of the region."
Reith nodded, at the very least he could understand where Max was coming from.
Even the guards slightly nodded when they heard the explanation.
When they arrived at the room, Max decided to meet one of the guards.
The room was spotless and sparkling, it was mostly designed with gems and certain crystalline materials that almost blinded their eyes.
There was only one word fit enough to describe this palace with beautiful room.
Wealth.
Reith was about to touch something when a guard immediately raised his weapon.
"Anything you see here is quite expensive. Please do not touch if you won't be able to afford it." The guard said with a solemn voice.
Reith could only nod and move back to his seat while he waited for Max.
In the next breath, Max came back.
"I'd be heading to the Alliance, want to go with me?" He asked.
Hearing the option, Reith felt like he would be able to do somethings here.
It was then Milly came into the room, accompanied by a guard.
"He won't be going with you." Her soft voice filled the air. "He has many other things to do, like practice for the Final Selection." Milly turned to Reith with a raised brow.
Reith rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "I'm sorry Max, maybe another time. Do hurry up and remember we have to still meet the others and head back on time."
"Yeah!" Max said but he couldn't help but wonder about the type of luck Reith had that even a princess like Milly was interested in him.
If only Max knew what was going through Reith's mind at that point in time.
The boy was scared. He has still not perfected the display of lightning very now and now he was going to fight actual opponents.
"Walk faster." Milly frowned and she instantly turned around.
Straightening his back, Reith chased after her. This was a once in a life time opportunity, and he wasn't going to let it slip by him.
"Would they be strong?" He asked Milly while he tried to catch up.
"What kind of question is that?" Milly shot him a dark look, "Of course they'd be strong, especially stronger than you." She said, facing front and hiding the small smile on her face.
Reith couldn't believe his eyes. "What if they kill me or even worse? What if they break my cultivation!?" He nearly yelled and wanted to instantly turn around.
Milly gave him another glare. "How do you plan to grow if you are not put in a life or death situation? The only way humans grow is to push past their limits and adapt." She gave him a small smile. However, Reith couldn't read the warmth in that smile, it felt like something dark and intense.
Such a dangerous vibe coming from an innocent looking face. For a moment he didn't know how to reply that, especially when it was right.
The guard beside Milly was slowly nodding his head as if he agreed and Reith felt like knocking the helmet of the man's face.
"If you support her so much dude, why don't you fight also?" He muttered beneath his breath, glaring at the man.
"I don't think you should worry much." Milly's voice came again.
"What do you mean?" Reith was confused. He shouldn't worry when his life was at stake and he was going to face people stronger than him?
"Yes! I watched what you did at the tunnel. It was pretty brilliant for someone like you." She turned around and gave him a nod.
Reith didn't know what to say so he stayed quiet.
They walked through gold-covered halls that had small tables at every corners with strange looking statues on top.
Reith was quite suprised to see pictures of Milly on the wall and it made him chuckle.
These pictures were her as a child.
"Did you talk to your father?" He suddenly asked. This was because he saw one of the pictures with her standing close to a young man.
The only assumption to make was that the man was her father.
"Yeah." It was a short word but Reith understood the meaning of that word and then he chose not to press further.
If she didn't want to say anything, then he had no right to force her.
They soon appeared in front of a large metal door, with two guards standing in front of it and dressed in a golden way.
Milly turned back to Reith, "This is the place."
