Zhao Xuelan was no fool. She naturally understood the meaning behind Liu Er Gou's words.

"Ahem, what I mean is, a small part of it was due to the acupuncture," she explained. "But for the most part, it was all thanks to you, Er Gou! If you weren't so strong and sturdy, sticking me full of needles like a hedgehog probably wouldn't have worked!"

These words from Zhao Xuelan greatly pleased Liu Er Gou. Of course, he knew it was the truth.

Just then, Zhao Xuelan asked, "Er Gou, do you have to go back now that my treatment is done?"

Liu Er Gou nodded.

"Yes. I've finished my business here, so I'll be heading back soon," he said. "I have a pile of things waiting for me, and my career has just started. I can't be away for too long."

Liu Er Gou wasn't lying. After all, dozens of acres of land were waiting for him. If anything went wrong with that land, it would be a significant loss, even with Lu Shuangyue backing him up. Barring any surprises, he had to return today.

Just as Liu Er Gou reached this conclusion, Zhao Xuelan suddenly made a suggestion. "Er Gou, how about this? I'll go back with you! I studied management in college, so I can help out.

As she spoke, Zhao Xuelan shot Liu Er Gou a seductive glance, her intentions perfectly clear.

However, Liu Er Gou didn't agree. "That's enough. You don't need to come with me. I don't need your help for now, so just stay here and be good."

Zhao Xuelan looked as if she wanted to say more, but Liu Er Gou interrupted her. "Alright, be good. Don't make trouble for me. It's not like I'm leaving and never coming back. Hearing this, Liu Er Gou nodded. He put on his clothes, ready to leave Zhao Xuelan's home. But just as he finished getting dressed, his phone suddenly buzzed with a notification.

He picked up the phone and saw a message from Leng Shasha. The content was simple: she was asking when Liu Er Gou would come to treat her.

After a moment's thought, Liu Er Gou replied that he was busy and would come over when he had time. However, no sooner had he sent the message than Sha Sha replied with a voice message.

He opened the voice message, and Leng Shasha's seductive voice immediately filled the air.

"Er Gou, how can you be so heartless? I'm feeling so weak and awful... Won't you come over now, please?"

This time, Liu Er Gou didn't respond immediately. Instead, he turned to Zhao Xuelan. "Sister Xue Lan, what do you think she means by this?"

Hearing this, Zhao Xuelan scoffed. "What else could it mean? Leng Shasha is just trying to lure you over there. Once you arrive, she'll use all sorts of excuses to leave you hanging, keeping you on tenterhooks.

"Then, once you're completely exhausted, she'll just kick you out!"

Liu Er Gou nodded thoughtfully. "Is that so? Well, if she likes keeping people on tenterhooks so much, I can play that game too. I'll give her a taste of her own medicine."

Just as he decided how to handle Leng Shasha, his phone received another voice message from her. This time, Liu Er Gou didn't even bother listening and simply blocked her number.

After sharing another brief, affectionate moment with Zhao Xuelan, he finished dressing and left the apartment. He made his way to the location he had arranged with Lu Shuangyue and waited for her to pick him up.

「A few moments later.」

A red sports car roared from the distance, screeching to a halt right in front of Liu Er Gou. The smoke from the tires burning against the pavement made him squint. But in the next second, Lu Shuangyue's voice called out, "Er Gou, get in!"

Hearing her voice, Liu Er Gou opened his eyes, pulled open the passenger door, and slid inside.
