The transcendent beasts were the real threats—a massive bear-like creature with stone plating covering its hide, a serpentine beast with venomous fangs dripping corrosive fluid, and a wolf variant with shadow manipulation abilities similar to what I'd encountered before but significantly more powerful.
The students behind me whimpered with fear as the Transcendent auras pressed against them, their inexperienced minds struggling to process the sheer danger these creatures represented.
I assessed the situation rapidly. Three Transcendent attacking simultaneously while protecting eight vulnerable students who couldn't contribute to combat—challenging but manageable with my current capabilities.
Rather than waiting for them to coordinate an attack, I seized initiative immediately. My Blood Control extended outward, not just enhancing my own body but reaching toward the beasts with invasive intent.
The stone-plated bear charged first with devastating momentum.
I channelled Blood Manipulation through the ambient moisture in the air, using it as medium to project my ability toward the charging beast. The technique wasn't as efficient as direct contact, but against creatures with conventional biology, it was devastatingly effective.
The bear's charge faltered mid-stride as I seized control of blood flow within its brain, creating momentary disruption that stunned its nervous system. Not permanent control—Transcendent-rank vitality resisted external manipulation—but enough to create critical opening.
Exploit! Strike! Execute!
I closed the distance with Transcendent speed and drove my sword directly into the bear's exposed eye socket, penetrating deep into its brain before it could recover from the blood manipulation effect.
The massive creature collapsed mid-charge, its momentum carrying the corpse forward several more meters before stillness.
The serpent beast struck from my flank, apparently hoping to exploit my focus on the bear.
Its fangs extended toward my exposed side, venom glands visibly pumping toxin in preparation for killing bite.
I pivoted with Swift Essence-enhanced reaction speed and caught its head with my free hand, Blood Enhancement providing grip strength sufficient to restrain even Transcendent-rank serpent. My fingers dug into scales hard enough to crack them as I forced its jaws away from my body.
Rather than trying to overpower it through pure strength, I channeled Blood Control directly through my contact with its scales, infiltrating its circulatory system and causing catastrophic disruption.
The serpent convulsed violently as I essentially gave it a massive stroke, blood vessels rupturing throughout its body from my invasive manipulation.
Finish! Decapitate! Eliminate!
While it thrashed in agony, I brought my sword down with Supernatural Physique-enhanced strength and severed its head completely. Venomous blood sprayed across the ground, the corrosive fluid hissing as it ate through vegetation.
Two Transcendents eliminated in less than twenty seconds.
The shadow wolf recognized the threat level and attempted tactical retreat, its survival instincts overriding hunting drive.
I didn't allow escape.
Transcendent-level speed carried me after the fleeing beast faster than it could maintain distance. My blade struck its rear leg mid-stride, hamstringing it and destroying its mobility advantage.
The wolf tried to use shadow manipulation to hide, its form blurring and fading into the forest's natural darkness.
But I could sense its blood signature through my manipulation abilities—the technique that had been relatively weak at lower levels but proved incredibly valuable at Transcendent capability. The wolf's attempts at stealth were worthless when I could track its life essence directly.
My sword found its throat despite the shadow concealment, the blade severing major arteries with surgical precision. The wolf's form became visible again as it died, its shadow manipulation failing with consciousness.
Three Transcendent beasts eliminated in under a minute of combat.
The peak-Elite creatures that had been circling earlier had fled entirely, their instincts correctly identifying that staying near something capable of casually slaughtering Transcendents was suicidal.
I turned back to the students, who stood frozen in shock, staring at the three massive corpses with expressions mixing awe, terror, and disbelief.
Silence held for several seconds before one of them found his voice.
"You... you just killed three Transcendent beasts like they were nothing..."
"That was insane!"
"I've never seen anyone move that fast!"
"Thank you! You saved us!"
Their gratitude poured out in overlapping exclamations, the reality of how close they'd come to death finally registering now that immediate danger had passed.
"Save the thanks," I interrupted sharply. "We're not safe yet. Come with me—we need to figure out where we are and find other survivors."
I cleaned my blade efficiently and began moving through the forest with purposeful direction, using the sun's position and ambient mana flow to establish rough geographical orientation.
The students followed obediently, clearly recognizing that their survival depended entirely on staying close to the one person capable of protecting them.
We traveled for approximately twenty minutes through increasingly dense forest, encountering and eliminating several more beast groups—nothing above peak-Elite rank, which I handled efficiently without breaking stride.
Then we found the other group.
The smell hit first—blood, death, and the distinctive odor of predator feeding. I raised my hand to halt the students behind me before they could see what lay ahead.
"Stay back," I commanded quietly.
But some of them had already glimpsed the scene through the trees, and their horrified gasps told me the warning came too late.
A small clearing ahead contained the remains of what had been another teleported student group. Maybe ten or twelve students originally, based on the scattered bodies and Academy uniforms torn and bloodied across the ground.
Beasts were still feeding—a pack of Transcendent-rank creatures consuming their kills with savage efficiency.
My expression grimaced with grim recognition. These students hadn't been lucky enough to have a Transcendent-rank fighter teleported with them. They'd faced similar beast hordes without adequate protection and been slaughtered.
This was Dawn Break's plan executing exactly as intended—scatter students into kill zones and let the beasts do the work.
The feeding beasts noticed our presence and immediately shifted from eating to combat posture, recognizing new prey had arrived.
Engage! Eliminate! No Mercy!
I charged forward with cold fury, my blade moving with lethal intent enhanced by genuine anger at the waste of young lives.
These students might not have been exceptional talents, but they were still people with families, friends, futures that had been stolen by terrorist planning and coordinated massacre.
