The shockwave spread all over the realm, rippling like golden light across the horizon.
Wherever it touched, the world changed.
The dirt roads that once had holes and pits… fixed.
The cracked paths that were covered in dust and old footprints… restored to smooth stone.
The fragile mud houses that had been slowly crumbling… rebuilt into sturdy homes of polished wood and smooth brick, just like the ones in Karan town.
Even the lord's house… his own had transformed before his eyes.
What was once a drafty wooden shack now stood as a towering mansion.
Its walls gleamed with dark stone, glass windows shimmered in the light, and a massive wooden door swung gently in the breeze.
And right at the center of the town square, a dried-up fountain burst to life.
Water gushed out, spraying into the air, sparkling like liquid diamonds.
But that wasn't all.
The shockwave swept past the borders of the town and reached the forests beyond.
The once lifeless land turned green again.
Trees that had been blackened and hollow now pulsed with new energy, sprouting leaves, vines, and blossoms all at once.
The barren soil glowed, teeming with mana-rich roots.
Birds appeared from the branches, chirping and fluttering, and the breeze carried the scent of blooming flowers.
Azel spun in the air as the shockwave passed beneath him.
His golden wings flared out once more, their light scattering across the sky.
"Master! Are you okay?" Erblim's voice called out from above.
Azel steadied himself just above the ground, his cloak whipping in the wind.
"Yeah, falling from that height wouldn't kill me anyway." He exhaled softly as he hovered down, landing on the freshly-paved stone road.
"But it would've ruined the new pavement."
He took a few slow steps forward, scanning the streets.
The System hadn't lied… the town really looked brand new.
The houses gleamed like something out of a noble district, fountains flowed, and even the air smelled cleaner.
From every corner, werewolves howled in celebration, the sound of their joy echoing through the reborn Lycas.
Azel couldn't help but grin a little. "Guess this place was overdue for some renovation."
Still…
"But then again," he muttered to himself, crossing his arms, "how do I deal with the food issue?"
The werewolves were a ravenous bunch, their appetites were nothing to be messed with.
Fixing the buildings was one thing… feeding a whole town was another.
Before he could worry too much, a familiar notification blinked in front of his eyes.
[Congratulations!]
[Your Territory has leveled up! (Lv. 0 → Lv. 1)]
[You have received 5,000 Fate Points.]
[Continue leveling your territory to earn more rewards.]
[You have received — Unique Item: Daily Mystery Box].
Azel tilted his head.
'Mystery box?'
That was new.
He already had the Fate Wheel which gave him mystery boxes sometimes.
He rubbed his chin. 'Speaking of the Fate Wheel, I should really spin it more often.'
Before he could think further, a shadow fell over him.
Something large descended from the sky and landed with a heavy thud.
Dust scattered.
When it cleared, Azel blinked.
A massive chest… nearly the size of a carriage stood before him, shimmering faintly with blue light.
[Item Name: Daily Mystery Box]
[A daily reward chest containing random items that can boost your territory's development.]
(Can be opened once every day.)
Azel smiled faintly. "A daily bonus system, huh? Guess I really am running a management sim now."
He was about to touch it when another message appeared.
[Cost: 20 Fate Points]
[Would you like to open it?]
[Y / N]
Azel's smile vanished.
He stared at the prompt for a long second, then sighed.
'I hate you,' he thought at the System.
Before he could complain further, Ravik came rushing over from the square.
"My lord! Lycas is—!" Ravik stopped mid-sentence, eyes widening as he saw the huge box glowing beside Azel. "What is… that?"
Azel lifted a hand. "One second."
He tapped Y.
The box began to glow brighter, humming softly as its surface cracked open.
A surge of light burst from within, blinding for a brief moment before something small floated out of it… dozens of small packets?
[You have received: 100× Ration Packs]
[Each pack contains compressed, nutrient-rich food capable of satisfying hunger for several days.]
[Effects: Restores stamina and eliminates hunger.]
Azel blinked. "Ration packs, huh?"
He grabbed one and turned it over in his hand.
It looked like a dull brown potato… unimpressive at first glance.
But when he took a small bite, the taste hit him instantly.
Flavor. Multiple flavors, actually. Meat, bread, fruits… it was like a full meal compressed into one bite.
His stomach felt instantly full.
He looked at the rest of the box in disbelief. "Okay, that's… really good."
Ravik's eyes gleamed with excitement. "Food?"
"Yeah." Azel lifted a pack toward him. "How many werewolves are in town right now?"
There had to be a hundred right?
Ravik paused to think. "There are about seventy-eight, my lord, including the ones in the sick hut."
Azel tilted his head. "Sick hut?"
"It's where we keep those who were wounded or infected," Ravik explained, ears drooping slightly. "A disease has been spreading for months. We tried using herbs from the town, but… nothing worked."
Azel sighed softly.
"Of course there's a plague. There's always a plague."
He rubbed his temples, then gestured toward the rations.
"Alright. Distribute these to everyone who's healthy enough to eat. Make sure they get at least one each. The sick… we'll handle them next."
Ravik nodded eagerly and called for a few other werewolves to help.
They grabbed the box, carrying it off carefully toward the town square. They were really strong.
As soon as they began distributing the rations, the streets filled with joy again.
The sound of wrappers tearing and satisfied growls filled the air.
Some werewolves clutched their packs like treasures; others dropped to their knees, thanking their new lord with heartfelt howls.
Azel looked around, exhaling softly.
'So this is what being a lord feels like,' he thought. 'Tiring already.'
Erblim fluttered down from above, landing neatly on his shoulder.
'Master, the people seem happy,' the crow said telepathically.
"They'd better be," Azel muttered, smiling faintly. "Now we just have to keep them alive to work."
"Erblim," Azel took a deep breath and said, adjusting the crown on his head. "Find the place where the sick are gathered. Let's go there."
The crow nodded and flapped its wings, taking off into the sky.
