Capítulo 613: Final Reinforcement
The air grew heavier.
Even with all the reinforcements Rael had put in, he wasn’t feeling very confident.
There was no wind-up or anything.
Lucien was simply staring at them, and yet the amount of mana he was releasing was enough to put his earlier attempts to shame.
But that also meant if he could hit the barrier with more than one of those attacks, it was very likely it could shatter.
Any way any of you could fortify the barrier? Rael asked inwardly.
Sadly though…
[I am just a shadow. I can’t take the attack of something like that,] Anna said.
As for Gaia, [I’ve already exhausted myself trying to contain Lucien inside that domain, sorry. Anything more and I might damage my soul.]
“Hmm…”
So I should turn on God Mode.
<Warning!>
The power-up was instant, and Rael didn’t worry too much about the side effects because he could just spend a year in extremely slowed down time.
Not even a few minutes would pass by the time he was out of the ability’s danger zone. Google seaʀᴄh novel⦿fire.net
Still, he didn’t do anything fancy this time like summoning constructs to attack Lucien, because that, aside from weakening Rael, would not really affect Lucien much.
After all, if he could drill a hole in the barrier of two Grade 8’s, then he most definitely wouldn’t find it hard to kill some Grade 3 constructs.
And so, Rael went with the far simpler option.
He coated the entire inside of the barrier with his Mental Integrity, reinforcing it further.
At first, the layer of reinforcement was invisible, but with every passing second, the barrier became darker and darker.
That was until it fully blanketed the entire inside in darkness.
No matter where either of them looked, it was dark, but coupled with that fact was that they didn’t need to supply mana into the barrier anymore.
Rael had sent in plenty of that through this unlimited supply.
There was also something a little extra he did with his Mental Integrity.
And as expected, it also came with side effects.
<Ding!>
That’s a first, Rael thought, clutching his head as the headache kicked in.
As tired as he was though, he decided to continue the reinforcement since it was always better to be safe than sorry.
And finally, when the barrier was thoroughly reinforced, Rael plopped down onto the ground, his forehead now hurting even more.
“I remember that ability,” Kareth said, rubbing his chin in interest. “Didn’t someone in the past use it?”
“Yeah, the Supreme Beast,” Anastasia remarked. “Rael’s using a similar ability, but it’s way weaker. The Supreme Beast could’ve kept this up for at least another month.”
A month? What do you take me for?
“You know I can hear you two, right?” Rael sighed. “It should be fine for now. If anything, make sure I don’t die.”
“Do not tell me what to do,” Anastasia replied coldly. “You just sit there and we will look out for any attack that might come our way.”
Before the tsundere could finish her words, the ground suddenly shook.
Not only that, an even sharper headache shot throughout Rael’s head. This time, it felt like someone was literally drilling into his head.
It hurt like crazy, and even worse was the fact that the pain kept increasing.
And…
That didn’t help either.
But as it seemed like that pain was going to continue, Anastasia crouched down beside him and placed a hand on his forehead.
She channeled her own mana, and while he didn’t expect her help, she did well to soothe his headache. Within a few seconds, it disappeared completely.
He stood up and gave her a quick nod. After that, Rael glanced toward the barrier, which was starting to slowly get brighter again.
Seriously… Just what is this guy made of?
Rael had literally infused the barrier with so much power, and one hit was all it took to weaken it?
Of course, that was only the start, as the ground shook once more.
The barrier grew brighter.
Then the ground shook again, and the barrier grew brighter once again.
It continued in this manner for at least the next five minutes, and although it seemed like Rael and the others were at a disadvantage, he knew for a fact that Lucien was about to run on empty.
After all, every single instant power boost came with its disadvantages. Rael would know.
Still, as the ground rumbled and their unease grew, Anastasia and Kareth eventually ran back to reinforce the barrier.
They managed to slow down the progress considerably, and Rael didn’t know if he imagined it or not, but the power behind each of those earthquakes was starting to become weaker.
The next attack made him half certain, and then the next made him 100% certain that Lucien’s timer was out.
Rael quickly relayed that same information to the others, and together, they kept the barrier reinforced.
That was until a spike came out of the ground, causing Rael’s eyes to widen.
The barrier reinforced every single angle imaginable, including the ground.
However, if every single attack in the last seven minutes was focused on the ground, then…
“Dodge!”
Rael obviously didn’t need to say that as the others immediately dodged.
However, by the looks of things, the spike wasn’t aimed at either of them.
Instead, it was heading straight for the top of the barrier.
Before any of them could stop the spike, it connected with the top of the barrier, shattering it like glass.
The barrier crumbled, and the darkness vanished in the blink of an eye.
What replaced it was a clear sky, as well as Lucien standing ominously right in front of him.
“Nice try.”
He raised his hand, prepared to strike Rael down.
But Rael didn’t even budge an inch.
He only tilted his head slightly.
“Did you think this was my only plan?”
