Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 596: Titans

Chapter 596: Titans

Nearly an hour had passed since the gargoyles began invading the city from the skies.

However, the defense of the soldiers, as well as Anastasia and her party, was… well, good enough.

The casualties were at a bare minimum. Though it seemed like even with all that power, Anastasia was holding back, trying not to do more than she actually could.

Is she trying to stay in her place? Rael pondered. Maybe she doesn’t want to alter this memory too much. But maybe altering is what I need if I want to see that eye again.

Still, the gazes of the fishies on the ground that looked at him with hope and disbelief kinda stung.

Aurelius is dead. He doesn’t belong in this memory… Oh.

If he doesn’t belong, then that’s just perfect.

What better way to alter a memory than by helping them fight?

“Heh…” Rael wiped the smug look off his face, and after dusting himself off, he kicked off the rooftop and onto another.

He moved so fast, the soldiers couldn’t even tell when he arrived at the wall.

To the genuine surprise of Anastasia, who was shooting beams of light off the wall, Rael suddenly jumped off, landing in the horde of hundreds of monsters on the ground.

All of them had one thing in common though.

They were all weak.

So instead of landing modestly… he squashed dozens of monsters under his foot.

-259,950! Critical Hit!

[x13 Monsters have been slain!]

He stood in the puddle of blood with an amused look and glanced around.

From above, it looked pretty tame. Honestly… he didn’t even think the wall was that high up.

But when he looked up from the bottom, he realized he could barely see the fishies. Furthermore, the monsters surrounding him, be it goblins, werewolves, or even some kind of mishmash chimeras, were a little bigger than he expected.

Yet as a punch flew his way and just barely grazed his cheek, Rael felt a sense of thrill welling up inside his chest.

When was the last time he felt something like this?

When was the last time he actually felt like he was going to die?

He was right by the wall, surrounded by thousands of monsters, standing in mud and sand. Moving was difficult, and yet, he never felt more alive.

After savoring that feeling he hadn’t felt in ages, Rael focused up.

An attack came, and he countered. Monsters avoided him, and he chased them down. Check latest chapters at NoveIFire.net

Mud, sand, and guts flew through the air. Granted, some of the blood and guts were his, but he was too preoccupied with this strange sensation to realize.

He kept fighting, mowing down the monsters at an alarming rate. However, no matter how many he truly killed, there didn’t seem to be an end to these monsters.

In truth, all he did was make it harder for himself to move with every kill.

After all, if the mud, guts, and sand weren’t shitty enough of a terrain, corpses were no better.

However, just as it seemed like he was starting to slowly be overwhelmed, someone grabbed him by the collar, and before he could react, he was tossed toward the top of the wall.

Rael twisted his body at an odd angle, then grabbed the edge of the wall. As he glanced at the one who had thrown him, he spotted Anastasia staring at him with a deathly glare.

She mouthed some words, which he couldn’t understand. Then, without saying another word, she began massacring monsters in his place. Arrows and magic rained down shortly after from atop the wall.

Just then, the third teammate, who he hadn’t paid attention to, arrived right above him.

It was a typical swordsman. He crouched down and extended his hand, as if telling Rael to grab it.

“Aurelius?” The swordsman tilted his head. “You’re a little more reckless than before, you know that?”

Rael sighed at those words and accepted the hand, rising to the top.

When he finally stood on his own two feet, he did a little stretch and addressed the swordsman.

“How many did I kill?”

The swordsman scoffed. “Heck if I know. Shouldn’t you count your own kills?”

“Well, you’re a swordsman, and you’re chilling on top of the wall. I don’t see you doing anything important,” Rael replied bluntly. “Not like you’re manning the cannons or anything.”

“…”

The swordsman was about to bonk him when all of a sudden, someone slammed into the wall right below them.

The two immediately rushed to see who it was, and to their surprise, it was Anastasia.

Her face was bloodied and messed up, and her right wrist was clearly broken.

However, just as fast as they saw her injury, she healed up and then jumped atop the wall, landing right beside the two of them.

But her performance didn’t end there, as she suddenly grabbed Rael by the collar and lifted him into the air, glaring straight into his eyes.

“You did something.”

“You think I sent you flying into the wall, dumbass?” Rael raised a brow. “If you’re so attached to this dream, then why don’t you stay here forever?”

Before she could reply, he continued.

“I’m trying to figure my stuff out, and clearly, even after all my interference, nothing happened. What, you got smacked by some monsters because you were careless. What does that have to do with me?”

Instead of replying to him, she shifted her hand’s position on his collar and turned his head in the direction of the monsters beyond the wall.

There were no longer thousands of monsters scattered around.

Now, there were only five, all of whom were the size of a skyscraper. Their bodies were bulky and looked humanoid enough, but in the end, they were still giants.

However, even with their ominous size, they looked nothing like that eye he had seen.

It simply didn’t feel right. There was no sense of familiarity between him and these five titans.

Still…

It seems like every time I mess with something, I take one step forward. Both toward the truth and to pissing Anastasia off.

Rael freed himself from her grasp and then momentarily closed his eyes.

He couldn’t feel mana, but he sure as shit could feel the bloodlust that was coming from the sky.

However, right as he locked onto that bloodlust, it vanished.

“…”

He turned to Anastasia.

“Would you be interested in trying something out?” Rael asked.

Noticing her frown, he continued:

“Though, it might revolve around you abandoning your friends. Are you still up for it?”
