Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 590: Dream Invasion

Chapter 590: Dream Invasion

<Choose your Dream Invasion Type!>

<Manifestation of Fear>

<Bystander>

<Guide>

<Voice of Reason>

<Recommended Dream Invasion Type: Unknown>

Rael glanced at each of the options, a little unsure of what to pick.

Oftentimes, the system just gave him a recommendation, and it was always the best. In this instance, however, he was drawing a blank.

Though he also half-expected there to be a new option, he recalled that being good at invading minds had nothing to do with dreams. To get better, he needed more proficiency.

And that’s what I’m lacking. But… since I already have something to work with, I’ll make sure it’s not total shit.

Manifestation of Fear was a big no. He would just get himself killed.

Voice of Reason was not too bad the last time he used it on Solenne… even if she did play along with him. However, it wasn’t what he needed at the moment.

So he was left with Guide and Bystander.

Normally, he would pick the Guide. It would put him in a position where he could interact with Anastasia while looking like someone she trusted.

But he knew full well how that would pan out. She was way too wary and cautious not to notice any differences in personality or speech patterns. Last time it worked because he invaded the mind of an idiot.

So in the end, he was left with only one real choice.

The Bystander.

It’s the one with the least amount of risk, Rael thought. Plus, acting as a random nobody doesn’t sound that bad, especially since the attention isn’t even going to be drawn to me.

Exhaling a relieved breath, Rael went ahead and chose that option.

<Dream Invasion Type Selected: Bystander>

<Initializing the memory that suits your current needs…>

His vision shifted as he felt a pull on his consciousness. It was much more forceful than he remembered, but when he regained the feeling of having a body, he suddenly tensed up.

This body was weak, and no matter how much he tried, even moving his arms and legs was a hassle.

For a second, he thought he weighed as much as an elephant, but upon opening his eyes, he realized his body was surprisingly skinny. Not only that, it was very pale and sickly.

There wasn’t any mana in this body either, so he had no leeway to actually make this piece of shit work. Nonetheless, since a circumstance like this was unavoidable, he might as well suck it up like a big boy and stop whining.

Right as he had that thought, the system appeared before him.

<You’ve become a Bystander!>

<Bystander: Aurelius [Level 150]>

<Role: Rival of Anastasia.>

<Personality: Eccentric, competitive, hiding feelings, cold.>

Hiding feelings? Rael raised a brow. Am I in the middle of some sort of love triangle?

Though he was labeled as a Bystander, which meant that this guy maybe wasn’t that important. Maybe… this rivalry was one-sided?

That would make a little more sense. It’s a shame I can’t really see his—

<Raise your dreaming proficiency if you wish to access the Bystander’s memories.>

Yeah, no shit. Rael sighed, glancing at the interface again. Though how is this guy such a high level?

He quadruple-checked the body, and there was definitely no mana. Physical strength was also a big no-no.

Just what is this guy good at? Rael thought with a hint of annoyance, and after mustering every bit of strength in his body, he stood up. Now that he was on his feet, he was even more certain this guy couldn’t even hurt a fly.

Even so, he had to get things moving, so for starters, he walked up to the mirror and inspected himself. Aside from his pale skin, he didn’t look half bad. His hair was white, and his eyes were crimson.

At least we have something in common, Rael hummed. Though he also has black bags under his eyes, and a pretty fresh cut on his neck…

Rael frowned when he paid closer attention to that cut.

No wonder this guy was so weak. His throat was slit, and blood was still flowing from the wound. The wound was slowly healing, and that’s why he felt a little more of his strength returning.

After a few minutes had passed, the wound had fully closed up. He was a bit stronger than before, but it wasn’t on the level of a 150.

Something was definitely missing, but after inspecting the body a couple more times and not finding anything, Rael simply gave up.

He didn’t know what his role in all of this was, but since he was just a casual bystander, he probably wouldn’t have to do anything too serious.

So, with his newfound strength, Rael scoured the room and put on a fresh set of clothes. One of the outfits was a mercenary uniform, but right as he was about to ignore it, the system intervened. Dıscover more novels at novelꞁire.net

<The Ancient Mindeweaver is all-knowing…>

<Description: Today is the day of the mercenary guild graduation exam. You are tasked with getting into teams of five and completing a single land defense mission. You are teamed up with Anastasia and three others, and you will be defending a city in the middle of the ocean for 168 hours.>

<Coralia>

<City Description: An underwater city that is only accessible to normal humans during low tide. It is rich in seafood, and the residents are an evolved species of humans who can breathe underwater and swim faster.>

<Dangers: During low tide, the city is susceptible to land monsters. The low tide happens every 10 years. However, it has been 30 years since the last low tide. The danger is expected to be at least threefold what it would normally be.>

With that final bit, the pop-ups stopped coming. He wasn’t really sure how to feel about this tower defense mission, but it did seem a little fun.

He hadn’t killed monsters in a while, and if he could pry into Anastasia’s mind while he was at it, all the better.

Though… I guess I wouldn’t have been given this memory if it were easy, huh? Rael chuckled as he made his way through the house, mercenary uniform in hand.

It was a two-bedroom house, and it wasn’t big by any means. He was sure this guy bought it with his own money.

But aside from that, when he stepped through the door and caught sight of the lively medieval city in the distance, a faint smile appeared on his face.

I should start by finding Anastasia first.
