Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 523: His Memories

Chapter 523: His Memories

“I am not Solenne.”

Rael tilted his head. “No, I know that. I’m just curious why you morphed into her.”

The shadow, which now looked like Solenne’s child form, furrowed its brows and extended its hand.

“Give me back my core.”

“I’ll have to pass,” Rael replied with a hum. “You see… I was under the impression that you were just going to disappear after I absorbed your powers.”

“I, Solenne’s shadow, have disappeared,” the shadow stated, putting a hand over her chest. “But… Due to what you’ve done, I am now your shadow. The only form I know is that of Solenne. That’s why I look like this.”

“So what now?” Rael asked. “Your loyalty still lies with Solenne, doesn’t it? Any tips and tricks on how I could get rid of you for good?”

The shadow smiled.

“Just ask those people inside your mind for answers. As for me, my loyalty to Solenne vanished the moment I became your shadow.”

“I can detect lies, you know?” Rael sighed. “Anyways… Gaia, Burger, and Vatyra. Are there any loose ends?”

A brief silence followed, but it didn’t last very long as Gaia soon spoke.

[Um… You made a new core.]

Rael nodded. Yep.

[T-That core is… I don’t even know how to scold you… Listen…] Gaia mumbled.

[Enough listening to the blabber,] Burger chimed in. [Everything’s fine. The shadow can’t physically harm you. It can only try to take over your body or something like that. Though you have enough resistances to avoid that… Especially after this core you just made.]

Vatyra was silent, but since he already had Burger’s thoughts and Gaia’s attempt to scold him, he saw it as enough.

“Alright. Want to see a firework show?” Rael asked.

The shadow tilted its head as its eyes suddenly widened.

“You’re not suggesting…?”

“You can read my mind too now?” Rael raised a brow. “And yes, I’m suggesting exactly that. Get in my shadow. Also, uhh… Want a name?”

“I do not need a name. Simply refer to me as a shadow,” it replied.

“Anna,” Rael insisted. “Or maybe I should go with something cheesy? How’s Ezbeth, Sol or maybe—”

“Anna is fine,” the shadow cut him off with a frown.

“Great. Anna, from now on, until I exterminate you, you’ll be my shadow,” Rael stated. “If you behave, I’ll let you tag along with me longer.”

Anna rolled her eyes. “What an honor… And must I watch?”

“I oppose Solenne.” Rael stepped forward, placing a hand on Anna’s shoulder. “I want you to understand just what kind of person I am. I also want you to understand that as long as you’re with me, you’re also going to go against Solenne. My decision is final.”

With that, he stared into her eyes, awaiting a response, which came not even a few seconds later.

“I have reasons for being loyal to Solenne… But for the time being, I suppose I have no choice but to obey you,” Anna said as her body turned transparent. In the next instant, he saw her float over to his shadow and assimilate with it.

Glancing down, he spotted something moving in his shadow, and a moment later, a pair of golden eyes looked up at him.

[I see everything you see,] Anna said. [I also feel what you feel. Why don’t you rid yourself of emotions? They are like an anchor to your humanity.]

Rael sighed. “No thanks. That sounds too boring.”

The moment he uttered those words, he gave the millions of Chop-D’s scattered around him a quick nod and got millions of thumbs up in response.

With that, Rael finally left the Mind Realm.

To his surprise, he was in the body of Jashin, but something was off. Upon a closer look, it seemed like all the stars had aligned just as he had hoped.

<Ding!>

“Jeez… This really is too good to be true, isn’t it?” Rael smiled and then turned to the interface he had been dying to open since he got here.

—You can now buy the identities of the forgotten!

Jashin Artemios: Golden hair, gray eyes. Prideful, manipulative, and calculating.

↳Information: The former Fifth Seat of the Blazing Sun faction. He was formerly a Blazing Sun Knight Brigade vice-captain, turned Fifth Seat after his efforts in a war zone. He aspired to become a person the others would look up to, but he became corrupted with power. After suffering a fatal soul injury from ???, he was abandoned by ???. He was murdered by ???, and his mind had been cloned.

Identity cost: 2,500 Premium Coins

This is it. Rael chuckled, his gaze landing on the last part. Though, his mind being cloned… So she’s still doing that. I wonder if this was even his true body, or maybe he’s just like Alcetas, locked away somewhere and being harvested…

Either way, Rael went ahead and bought Jashin’s identity, spending a hefty sum of 2.5 trillion Trell.

After he was done, a few pop-ups appeared.

Great… Time shouldn’t pass while I’m checking his memories out, so this should be fine, Rael thought with a determined look and pressed “Yes.”

The moment Rael pressed the button, he closed his eyes, absorbing the sudden influx of memories.

Jashin had lived a very long life, spanning nearly a thousand years. Yet Rael lived through it all within a few seconds. Flashes of worlds, emotions, and even some atrocities Jashin had committed. Rael saw it all and felt it firsthand.

He wasn’t that bothered by the time spent, as, after all, the amount of information he would gain from doing so would be extremely beneficial.

His hands twitched every now and again until eventually, he reopened his eyes, a disgusted look on his face.

There were some of Jashin’s personality traits that tried to cling to Rael.

Greed, lust, and so much hunger for power and revenge…

However, it only took him a deep breath and a few short moments to get rid of those traits.

Aspiring to be a person others look up to my ass. Rael scoffed. The moment he became a Grade 2, he committed five genocides on five different worlds. There are even more unspeakable things he’s done… But I can’t do anything to him now since he’s dead. If only I had his soul, then…

Rael shook his head, putting those thoughts to the back of his mind.

The most important boon here was the information, and he got plenty of it.

Solenne’s hiding spots, secret vaults, secret stashes, abilities, and even some Laws that he could access if he were to do a little training.

He even knew some secret worlds where he could train and get extra effects.

Not only that, he had gained some slight insight into the Divine Realm.

From the looks of things… There’s one person in Solenne’s army who’s from the Divine Realm, acting as a watcher. Jashin didn’t know who it was, but if my earlier actions are anything to go off of, then that means this person isn’t interested in what I do here.

And because of that, Rael decided to do the last thing he had come here to do, and that was to finally go through with the firework show.
