“For all our sakes, refrain from doing that again.” Zarkul frowned. “This is not your land to tamper with, nor is it yours to destroy.”
“My bad?” Rael tilted his head, glancing off to the side. “What was that, by the way? There seemed to be some kind of city in the distance. The moon here disappeared, and there was a sun in its place.”
He could only guess it was some kind of other world that he had only managed to access because he was moving so fast.
And it seemed like Zarkul’s next words weren’t that far off.
“It’s an extension of the Void Realm, but it’s not a place we often frequent,” he said. “It’s similar to the higher realms like the Transcendent Realm, but it’s filled to the brim with unreasonable people.”
Rael nodded enthusiastically, but deep down, he was confused.
He just told me a lie. Does he not know I can tell apart lies?
“Those unreasonable people make unreasonable demands, and that’s why we split from them. The Depths was born, and their land on the other side remained,” Zarkul continued. Yet it seemed like every other word was a lie, so Rael found it hard to believe a single thing.
But despite that, he tried to put together the puzzle, all while letting Zarkul waste time for him. It was a win-win situation.
“Some might think that place is what the Depths were supposed to become, but I would beg to differ. I dislike them, and I wish nothing more upon them than destruction… But you nearly ruined that, Rael.” Zarkul narrowed his eyes, stepping closer.
“You nearly opened a crack in space and revealed our position to the other side, and for that, I must eliminate you.”
The moment he finished speaking, he began emitting a powerful pressure. It was far beyond the power he had showcased earlier, and if Rael’s wagging tail was any indication, he was about to get his shit rocked by a Grade 9 being.
Rael raised his massive scaly hands in protest.
“Hold on now. If you attack me, I’ll move at that speed again and enter that strange place. You wouldn’t want that, would you?”
It seemed like Rael’s words came back to bite him in the ass. All of a sudden, his Foresight showcasing five seconds into the future vanished.
It was pitch black, and it felt like at any moment, he would be killed. So with that in mind, Rael didn’t hesitate to flap his wings once more, entering that dark place filled with tentacles and the distant city.
Yet it didn’t even take a second before someone grabbed his tail and flung him down to the ground, making him leave the dark place once again.
He hit an ocean, but because of how large Rael was, the impact managed to part the ocean completely, to the point he reached the very bottom.

Rael wasn’t sure where the pain was coming from, but he sure as shit knew that Zarkul would follow up with another attack soon enough.
But when he glanced up from the ocean floor, he saw the entire ocean circling around him. Surprisingly, it was boiling, occasionally spitting molten drops that barely missed him.
In the midst of it all was the giant crimson moon overhead, and Zarkul, who hovered menacingly just below it.
His figure was shrouded in darkness, with only his pitch-black eyes glowing amidst the lack of light. Just his pressure alone made Rael’s mind foggy and his mana circulation unstable.
It was difficult to even move, and with each passing moment, Zarkul’s figure approached. He wasn’t hurrying in the slightest, but he didn’t really need to. He could kill Rael at any moment with any kind of skill, or maybe even a single breath.
The closer he got, the more the ocean floor trembled. But when he arrived in front of Rael, everything went deathly silent.
The ominous figure of Zarkul was the only thing Rael could see now as even the crimson moon overhead seemed to fade away.
But then again, staring at a pitch-black figure with glowing black eyes wasn’t doing Rael’s psyche any justice. With all his might, Rael averted his gaze, and the moment he did, Zarkul slammed his fist down straight through Rael’s heart.
The scorching pain felt oddly soothing, almost as if the attack was nothing but an illusion.

Rael snapped out of it as his dragon heart regenerated around Zarkul’s hand, forcing it out.
“You are akin to a cockroach,” Zarkul remarked, his voice echoing coldly. “But how is it you’re blessed with such power when you have no idea how to control it?”
Rael clicked his tongue, dragging his massive body backward in an attempt to run once again.
Yet the moment he took his gaze away from Zarkul, he was already gone. Before Rael could process what was happening, he felt a sharp pain in his back. It was quickly followed by Zarkul tearing off his wings and flinging them into the boiling ocean.
Rael couldn’t fight back at all. With every attempt to control his mana, Zarkul proceeded to counter it. It was even more disturbing how effortlessly he was doing all of this, but Rael knew that a being of such a level really was no joke.
Skill casting wasn’t working either, and around this time, Rael realized that he might be in a little bit of trouble, especially when Zarkul walked out in front of him, his figure still shrouded in darkness as he emanated an oppressive pressure.
“A power so great you’re able to jump Grades, a power so potent you can control time and move beyond your body’s natural limits…”
“So why are you still so weak?”
