Chapter 359: Sage
[Sage?] the Empress asked.
“That’s right, she said most people call her that,” Li Yao said. “Though you probably shouldn’t take her word for it, she didn’t seem that well off up there,” Li Yao added.
The Empress had her hand on her chin. She wondered who would actually dare to call themselves a sage. In the celestial realm, the god realm was known as the peak of cultivation and the strongest one could be. And it might as well be as one had completely mastered a law and could do pretty much anything, of course, within the restrictions of the heavenly dao.
But there was also a myth that was told. It went that if one could master their law completely and then transcend it, they would ascend and become a sage. She didn’t really believe the story as how could one possibly transcend laws? They were what made up all of existence. To transcend law, wouldn’t that mean being something on the same level as the heavenly dao?
She thought to herself that if this person dared to refer to themselves as sage, then maybe they were indeed in the sage realm, as no one would dare to do that. The Empress sighed. How did the enemies become so strong all of a sudden?
[And she said you were her creation?] the Empress asked.
“That’s right, she’s completely crazy,” Li Yao said.
The Empress was deep in thought. Even with her completed law of creation, there was no way she would be able to create someone like Li Yao.
Was this the power of a sage? But when she thought about it, she shook her head. If she was really that strong, she wouldn’t bother sending lackeys and would just come here herself.
The fact that she couldn’t was good news. It meant that she was still bound by the rules of the heavenly dao. But the question was by how much, seeing as she was able to communicate with Li Yao through the law.
[How did she look?] the Empress asked.
“Hmm,” Li Yao held her chin in thought. “Kinda like you,” Li Yao said.
“Now that I think about it, the way you talk is also similar,” she added.
The empress thought to herself that the authority she was using to speak wasn’t that special, any other god could do it easily so it wasn’t surprising for someone calling themselves sage to be able to do it.
But what did she mean they looked alike?
She had realized that there seemed to be a perception filter on both her and Li Yao.
From an outsider’s point of view, they looked exactly alike, yet to them, they looked different from each other. Then when Li Yao said the enemy looked just like her, what she really meant was that the enemy looked just like Li Yao, the Empress thought, connecting the dots.
She then shook her head.
No, appearances meant nothing at such high levels. People could make their appearance to be whatever they wanted. Then she had to assume that this meant nothing and was just a trick. Since she called herself Li Yao’s creator, then she probably used her appearance to sell the trick.
The Empress sighed. Things were really getting more and more complicated. She thought to herself that enemies were probably waiting for them in the immortal world. It seemed this so-called sage couldn’t be underestimated.
[Wait, you said she was expecting to meet you in a million years?] the Empress asked.
“Yeah, she said something like that,” Li Yao responded.
The Empress smiled. [I see what it is now,]
[I’ve finally figured it out,] she said.
“You did? Same,” Li Yao said.
“She’s crazy.”
[She can’t sense Xiang Yu’s existence,] they both said at the same time.
“Huh?”
…
[Without taking into account the existence of an anomaly like your senior brother, it indeed might have taken you a million years to glimpse into a law,] the Empress said.
“Is that so?” Li Yao spoke. She didn’t seem that interested.
[That’s right, it seems she can divine your fate to some extent,] the Empress said. [But the good thing is that just like how your senior brother can hide from the heavenly dao, he can also hide from her. This means when she does her divination, it doesn’t account for him. This is our biggest trump card,] the Empress said.
She thought to herself that with Xiang Yu here, the sage’s calculations would almost always be off, and by a large margin at that. She thought to herself that even though the enemy was strong, it seemed that they could still even out the odds.
Her expression then became serious. She needed to recover her strength quickly. From what she had seen, just like the demon and asura gods, she was probably also being used by this so-called sage. They were also probably involved in her death.
Her smile became more menacing. “I really hate those who try to take advantage of me,” she thought, holding her face and blushing. “I wonder what I should do to you when I catch you. Dicing you up into a few billion slices would be a nice starting point.”
“Are you feeling unwell?” Xiang Yu spoke through the tree.
[Ah, no, I’m okay,] she said.
Xiang Yu looked at her. “That look just now, it was just like junior sister,” he thought.
[You guys should prepare for the wedding. Don’t worry about the sage too much, she can’t do anything for now,] she said as she disappeared into Li Yao’s spiritual sea.
In an unknown location, a world made up entirely of ice, a pale woman covered in pure white clothing sat meditating atop an ice block.
She opened her eyes.
“Hmm, it’s really strange,” she thought.
She then sighed. No wonder the asura god had lost, he didn’t even stand a chance. She had actually glimpsed upon the law of heavenly way. This changed everything.
“And it all revolves around one person,” she said as she materialized a crystal ball with Xiang Yu’s appearance on it. “And the person in question doesn’t even exist,” she said in frustration, crushing the crystal ball.
