Chapter 672: Chapter 5: The Future
Lynch was slightly startled, a clear confusion in his eyes: “The future? Master, I don’t quite understand… what is the connection between this creation and the ’future’?”
Gulwige didn’t answer directly, he just gently waved his hand again.
The surroundings of the alchemy laboratory rippled like water, then quickly faded and disappeared. In the next moment, Lynch found himself standing on a sunny, lush green meadow. A gentle breeze wafted past, carrying the fragrance of grass and earth.
At his feet, a group of ants scurried busily among the grass blades, some laboriously dragging food scraps larger than themselves, others exploring new paths, the whole colony appearing orderly yet busily small.
Gulwige’s figure appeared beside him, this Truth Wizard crouching like an ordinary old countryman, extending a finger and gently lifting a small patch of grass where the anthill was located.
A strange scene occurred—the patch of grass no more than a foot in diameter, along with the busy ant colony on it, floated steadily off the ground like a miniature bonsai model, suspended at eye level with Lynch. The dewdrops on the grass blades remained sparkling, and the ants’ actions weren’t hindered in the slightest, they hadn’t even noticed that their ’world’ had already detached from its foundation.
“What do you see?” Gulwige asked peacefully.
Lynch gazed at the floating, vibrant miniature world, cautiously answering, “An… ant’s nest. They’re busy surviving.”
“And what else?” Gulwige pressed on.
Lynch scrutinized for a while, then shook his head, “Please guide me, Master, I can’t see anything more.”
Gulwige sighed softly, a sigh filled with endless sentiment.
“This is the world of us wizards, young Lynch.” He said in a deep voice.
Before Lynch could digest the meaning of these words, Gulwige waved his hand again.
The scene before their eyes was suddenly elevated! The speed was so fast that Lynch felt a slight dizziness.
The meadow beneath them instantly shrank into a green speck, followed by the vast forest, winding rivers, and undulating mountains unfolded like a painting at their feet, then rapidly shrank again.
They pierced through thick clouds, seeing the outline of the giant continent below, then the entire planet—a beautiful, blue and green intertwined world, suspended in the boundless dark void.
However, this was just the beginning.
The background of this planet rapidly expanded, revealing the galaxy it resided in—countless stars, some bright and some dim, spinning according to some ancient law.
Soon, the galaxy became a small dot of light in an even larger nebula, and such nebulae, in the swiftly expanding view, turned into one of countless twinkling specks on the cosmic curtain.
Eventually, their “view” fixed on an indescribably vast cosmic vista. Countless galaxies, nebulae, and star rivers spread out like dust in the endless dark void, distances between them so vast it was despairing.

Gulwige’s finger pointed at the barely noticeable blue dot they had just ’left.’
“Our Wizard World,” his voice sounded incredibly small yet incredibly clear in the silence of this cosmic scale, “is actually just such a star.”
“And stars like this, in this vast universe, are as countless as the sands of the Ganges.”
Lynch was stunned: “You mean… planes?!”
“Yes, planes.” Gulwige nodded affirmatively, his gaze sweeping over the endless sea of stars ahead, his tone heavy.
“Our proud Wizard World, placed in this boundless multiverse, is like that ant nest, just a tiny corner. And our so-called powerful wizards…” He glanced at the suspended ant nest underfoot, “… from a higher dimension, are merely stronger, smarter ants.”
“We are trapped in this tiny place, fighting fiercely for a bit of Magic Stone Mine, for some rare Magic Material, just like these ants competing over debris and dewdrops between the grass blades. Unaware that many things we treasure, in other more abundant, broader planes, might be like wild grass on the ground, everywhere.”
His voice suddenly rose, carrying a tone of irrefutable determination and desire:
“Get out!”
“In the Acadica Era, the sages of the Eternal Tower had already soberly recognized this! They had long been searching for a way to ’get out,’ to other planes! All the elite wizards understand that only by breaking free from this cradle and heading to a broader universe can Wizard Civilization have a truly grand and glorious future!”
“Abyss, Kingdom of Heaven, Hell, Elemental Planes, Mechanical Realm, and countless bizarre worlds beyond our imagination… these are not myths and legends, but real places, waiting for us to explore!”
Gulwige’s words were filled with rousing power, but then, his tone became heavy again.
He gently manipulated the cosmic vista before him, greatly magnifying the distance between two seemingly adjacent stars. That seemingly tiny gap, on the spatial scale, was stretched infinitely, revealing its essence—
It was a vast, cold, desolate, and empty void that could drive one insane, distances so far that even traveling at light speed would take an unimaginable amount of time.
“However, reaching those places is very difficult.” Gulwige’s voice carried a hint of helplessness, “You see, this seemingly small distance, in the realistic scale of space, is stretched into an insurmountable chasm.”
“Between it lies the Endless Void, and even with my strength, I cannot, with individual might, directly cross this despairing distance.”
Lynch suddenly understood something, turning his gaze to the complex alchemy creation suspended in Spirit Perception, asking doubtfully: “Could it be… this thing…?”
“Exactly!”
Gulwige’s gaze also fell on that phantom image of a creation, his eyes bursting with intense brilliance, “It is the core model of a ’space transmission device’!”
“The truth it contains can distort or even ignore the distant distance between planes, establishing a stable space channel that links two completely different worlds!”
His voice was filled with reverence and regret: “This is the supreme achievement the sages of the Acadica Era devoted their efforts to study. It is said… it was near completion at that time. Unfortunately, with the outbreak of that devastating war, all efforts were in vain, and most of the research materials and crucial data were lost.”
“After these long ten thousand years, we Fran, combining the efforts and wisdom of countless generations of wizards, under piecemeal records and deductions, finally… finally reconstructed it in basic form.” Gulwige’s voice carried a slight tremble, the weight of countless generations’ efforts condensed into it.
“However,” his tone suddenly became extremely stern, “some of the most crucial, core space parameters are still missing. These parameters are like the last key to a lock, without them, this device cannot truly start, cannot accurately locate other planes, and may even cause catastrophic space collapse.”
His gaze focused once more on Lynch, those galaxy-like eyes filled with unprecedented seriousness and… earnestness.
“And we believe, these lost critical parameters are buried within those Underground Cities, encrypted and stored deep in the souls of those Acadica Dead Spirits.”
Gulwige slowly and deliberately spoke out words heavy as a thousand weight:
“Mr. Lynch.”
“Whether the future of Wizard Civilization can break free from this tiny cradle and move towards the true starry sea…”
“…perhaps, is in your hands.”
