Chapter 667: Chapter 36: Reunion
The Flying Aircraft slowly descended onto the gigantic platform of the Farlan Airport, its immense scale once again astonishing those who had just emerged from their journey through the sea of clouds.
The airport wasn’t merely a simple docking area; it resembled more a Crystal City suspended in midair. The platform was constructed from some sort of translucent Energy Crystal, beneath which complex Magic Runes flowed with light like veins.
Numerous airships, magical sailing vessels, and even strange creature mounts took off and landed in an orderly fashion within different levels and sections, yet there was no hint of chaos, only a busy efficiency and tranquility.
“Wow!” Annie’s small face was nearly pressed against the porthole, her big eyes reflecting the dazzling scene outside, “It’s… it’s a hundred times more beautiful than the square in the royal city! No, a thousand times!”
Naliti couldn’t help but exclaim, “These buildings… it’s as if they themselves are living magic.”
Hearing this, Border Scholar Roland smiled and explained, “This is ’Thousand Sails Airport’, one of the largest and busiest airports in the Wizard World. Probably only the ’Eye of Order’ in the Land of Freedom and the ’Tidal Throne’ in Deep Sea City can compare to it.” His tone carried a barely noticeable hint of pride.
Once the Flying Aircraft came to a steady halt, everyone stepped onto the crystal-like platform, further experiencing firsthand its vastness and sophistication. Soft light naturally emitted from the crystals beneath their feet and around them; the air was fresh without a hint of impurity, filled only with a rich magical aura.
“The scenery outside is even more worth seeing.” Roland led the group toward the exit of the airport with a smile.
Passing through a water wave-like energy curtain, the scene before their eyes changed again!
A street wide enough to accommodate ten carriages side by side appeared before them, its surface paved with white jade-like slabs, inlaid with guiding luminous runes. Above the street wasn’t an empty sky, but a multi-layered, intersecting and intricate traffic network. Countless shimmering “vehicles” silently glided along these light tracks.
What caught most of the attention were the rows of carriages waiting by the roadside. The creatures pulling the carriages were not ordinary horses but regal, snow-white Celestial Horses with wings! They stood quietly, occasionally snorting and spraying starlight. The carriages were luxurious and elegant, engraved with protection and weight-reduction runes.
What surprised Lynch was that he saw not only Transcendents in mage robes with magical insignias boarding these Celestial Horse carriages, but also many plainly dressed, obviously mortal humans, and even some strangely featured races—
Like elves with pointed ears and green skin, dwarf-like sturdy hill dwarves—all naturally riding or waiting without any sign of discord.
“Master Roland,” Lynch couldn’t help but ask curiously, “In Fran, are these… uh, Celestial Horse carriages accessible to everyone? I mean, in other places, such Transcendent transport is usually restricted to wizards or certain classes.”
Roland showed a comprehending smile and shook his head, his tone peaceful yet firm: “In Fran, we do not divide individual rights between ’Transcendent’ or ’mortal’.”
“Whether you’re a wizard, scholar, craftsman, farmer, or a member of any other race, as long as you’re a lawful resident of Fran and have contributed to the prosperity and development of this Witch Domain, you have the right to enjoy the conveniences and services Fran provides.”
“The fruits of magic should benefit all who create it and support it.”
These words touched Lynch’s heart; this ideology… closely resembled a nascent form of “equality” he recalled from his memory! In a wizarding world dominated by strength, this was truly an anomaly among anomalies!
Beside him, Messiah seemed to be moved as well. Her typically cool voice carried rare inquisitiveness: “If not through strength or bloodline, then… how are resources allocated? Who decides how much each person deserves?”
Roland looked appreciatively at Messiah, clearly pleased to explain: “Good question, miss. In Fran, the standard measure isn’t ’status’, but ’contribution’.”
He pointed to a distant Arcane Tower towering into the clouds, radiating magnificent energy: “For an Arcane Tower to operate stably, it requires wizards to maintain the core, scholars to calculate parameters, craftsmen to forge parts, and even farmers to cultivate crops that provide special energy. Each link is indispensable.”
“We have a relatively complete evaluation system that comprehensively assesses each individual’s value creation, problem-solving, and advancement in their role.”
“A farmer who improved crop yields and fed tens of thousands of people would receive rewards and respect not lower than an Official Wizard performing daily maintenance tasks. Of course, exploring the unknown and defending against external threats, which are high-risk and high-reward contributions, have separate ways of assessment. In short, we strive to match effort with reward.”
Lynch inquired, “Then… what about the governance system of this Witch Domain? Who decides these rules?”
“System?” Roland chuckled, “You mean the highest decision-making body? Naturally, Fran has an institution similar to a council, which we call the ’Blue Tower’. The Blue Tower is responsible for formulating and maintaining Fran’s fundamental rules, coordinating interests, and guiding development direction.”
He paused, pointing to a humble blue badge of books and stars on his chest: “The Blue Tower isn’t an isolated entity. In fact, all significant Wizard Towers, research institutes, and large workshops within Fran have members of the Blue Tower in their management, or rather, they are intrinsically part of the Blue Tower’s orchestration. I, myself, am part of the Blue Tower’s ’Boundary and Space Research Institute’, making me a member of the Blue Tower system.”
During the conversation, a spacious Celestial Horse carriage silently glided to a stop in front of them. The party boarded the carriage, and the Celestial Horse spread its white wings, lightly taking to the air and merging into the orderly flow of transportation.
The carriage sped smoothly along a broad aerial light track, and through the windows, the magical wonder that was Fran’s super metropolis unfolded dynamically before Lynch’s eyes. Towering skyscrapers, floating islands, ceaselessly flowing magic transports, and streets teeming with various harmonious residents—everything brimming with vitality and life.
Roland acted as a temporary guide, introducing them to notable landmarks along the way: “Over there is the ’Tower of Thousand Laws’, Fran’s largest comprehensive library and Arcane Research Center… In the distance, those floating islands are the ’Star Academy’, specializing in training apprentices with talents for astrology and prophecy… Beneath is the ’Vitality Forest Garden’, responsible for cultivating Magic Plants and maintaining ecological balance…”
Lynch listened and eagerly absorbed all this information, the impact on his mind washing over him in waves. Fran’s prosperity and order far exceeded his imagination.
Unbeknownst to him, the Celestial Horse carriage began to decelerate and finally gracefully landed in front of a magnificent architectural complex.
This complex featured a unique style, primarily constructed from deep blue Star Stone, its roofs seemingly merging into the night sky, adorned with eternally shimmering magical starlight. Above the grand entrance, a large emblem glowed brilliantly—the intertwined emblem of stars and books, Fran’s insignia. The air here was thick with an atmosphere of inquiry and arcane energy.
“We’ve arrived, the Starry Sky Magic Academy,” Roland said with a smile.
The group descended from the carriage, finding a large gathering of formally dressed mages silently waiting at the academy gate. Clearly, Dean Abbas and others had already been informed of their return and Lynch’s arrival as a “special guest scholar.”
Dean Abbas wore a gentle smile as he walked up to Lynch, directing his gaze to the forefront of the welcoming crowd, his tone filled with a touch of humor and anticipation: “Wizard Lynch, look over there. There’s an ’old friend’ of yours specially waiting here. I wonder if you can recognize him?”
“An old friend?” Lynch was stunned, full of doubts. He was unfamiliar with anyone’s life in Fran, so how could there be an old friend?
He followed Abbas’s indicated direction, looking at the group of people there. His gaze swept over those faces, whether old or middle-aged, each exuding a powerful or wise aura, and finally settled on an elderly man in a prominent position.
This elder’s hair was completely white, his face deeply wrinkled, his stature a bit hunched, wearing a somewhat worn-out gray mage robe, holding a simple wooden Magic Wand, looking like an ordinary, weathered old scholar.
However, when Lynch’s gaze met those old yet somewhat familiar eyes, filled with shrewdness and calculation…
A long-buried memory surged suddenly from the depths of his mind!

Though his appearance had changed from youthful to aged, the unpleasant trait deep in those eyes remained unchanged!
Lynch’s body involuntarily shuddered.
