Diary of a Dead Wizard

Chapter 883: Return to Purity Wizard Tower

As soon as Saul emerged from the Maze Corridor, after taking one last look at the Mido he had planted, he followed Royer all the way to the ultra-long-distance teleportation array.

After that, Royer didn’t accompany Saul back to Stat Continent. Instead, Lia drove the carriage to escort Saul back.

“We’ve entered Stat Continent, Lord Saul.” Lia cheerfully drove the carriage. “However, this is Dwarf Valley, where you can’t…”

Saul suddenly emerged from the carriage and placed one hand on Lia’s shoulder. “Lia, be careful when you return.”

Lia’s face suddenly flushed red, but it quickly faded. “Lord Saul…”

“You’ve done many things for me, but you may have lost the Tribunal’s trust because of it.”

Lia pressed her lips together but didn’t seem to mind.

Saul held Lia in place, not letting her turn around. “If that’s the case, would you still be willing to continue working for me?”

Lia’s heart jumped suddenly. Feeling the strength in Saul’s arm, her knuckles gripping the reins turned white with tension.

She didn’t answer immediately, afraid that would make her seem insincere. Only after the carriage had traveled several more meters did Lia respond firmly, “I’m at your service anytime, my lord.”

Saul had been squinting his eyes, watching the fate lines emerging from Lia’s head nodding vigorously at him.

“Good,” Saul released Lia’s shoulder. “After you return, apply for work taking care of Mido as soon as possible. This job won’t involve too many secrets, so you should be able to get it.”

Lia nodded repeatedly.

“Then you need to pay attention to Black Flame Emperor Elo’s movements. If he visits Evernight again, immediately inform Mido or Alexandra about it.”

Lia was startled, not expecting Saul to have her monitor Emperor Elo. But she still nodded. “Is there anything else you need me to do, my lord?”

She was at least a second-rank wizard. Using her only to monitor the Black Flame Emperor’s movements seemed like a waste of talent.

But Saul said, “Don’t do anything unnecessary. You can’t hide your attitude toward me from others, so the smaller your actions afterward, the better. After this sensitive period passes, I have other tasks for you. But if you attract too much attention, it won’t be convenient for me to have you act openly.”

Lia nodded repeatedly. Because of her constant care for Saul, when she returned to Nephret, she might face a period of cold treatment and observation. The fewer actions she took, the sooner she could escape being monitored.

“I understand, my lord.”

“Then, farewell, Lia.”

Suddenly feeling lighter behind her, Lia turned around in surprise to find that Saul was no longer in the carriage.

She instinctively tightened the reins, and the flying horses silently slowed their pace.

“Can my lord… teleport even in Dwarf Valley?”

Saul’s figure appeared in the Purity Wizard Tower.

This trip out, he had almost ended up on someone’s experimental table again. Follow current novels on novel•fire.net

It had to be said that although he was already carefully hiding his strength, his too-rapid advancement still attracted too much attention.

First Ophelia, then Frim.

They were all interested in certain parts of Saul’s body.

Saul decided to change his approach from now on.

Since several fourth-ranks had basically discovered his special nature to some degree, there was no need for him to keep hiding himself. Acting as if anyone could bully him.

His deliberate display of being able to teleport in Dwarf Valley in front of Lia was the beginning of this change.

Sometimes, showing a bit of muscle could give those who followed you more confidence.

Saul walked to the bedroom window and looked at the scenery outside.

Beyond the perpetually frozen Rhine Lake was an even more vast mushroom forest. These mushrooms were also much taller than when coachman Marsh had first planted them.

Obviously, Marsh had also improved the mushroom cultivation methods.

In the distance was Rhine City, still expanding.

Rhine City was to the east of the Purity Wizard Tower. Since beginning its expansion, it had been extending at a steady pace toward the northeast and south while slowly expanding westward, circumventing the Purity Wizard Tower and Rhine Lake.

This had gradually shaped Rhine City into a crescent moon – a rather fat crescent moon.

Saul hadn’t paid much attention to Rhine City during his long absence from the Purity Wizard Tower, but now, after emerging from the Maze Corridor, he felt he should properly develop his Rhine City.

At the very least, when he needed it, Rhine City shouldn’t exist merely as something dependent on him.

Saul’s teleportation back to the Purity Wizard Tower didn’t alert anyone, but when he stopped hiding his magic power fluctuations, Keli and Byron quickly found him.

Keli was the first to push open the door and rush in. As soon as she entered, she immediately grabbed Saul’s clothes, checking his body for injuries or signs of abuse.

Saul looked at Byron standing at the doorway without immediately entering and felt somewhat awkward. “Cough, cough, what are you looking at? You know about my healing ability – any wounds would have healed long ago.”

Keli released Saul’s tattered cloak and said indignantly, “We got word from the big tree that you were imprisoned, telling us to quickly find a way to rescue you, or you might be skinned and have your tendons pulled, your hands and feet cut off, and be thrown into various solutions to observe abnormal reactions.”

Saul’s mouth twitched. “Are those Shaya’s exact words?”

Byron finally walked in. “Yes, so we immediately followed the agreement and faked a Storm Eye. But even so, you returned later than we expected.”

Though Byron didn’t physically examine him, his mental power had already swept over Saul’s body. “Were you injured?”

“I was used as experimental material and rolled around in the black tide once, but no wounds were left.” Saul looked at his right arm.

After all, having spent several days in someone else’s custody, Saul had carefully checked for any hidden dangers when he returned.

However, whether checking with the Dead Wizard’s Diary or fate lines, no abnormalities were found. It seemed Frim was too proud to even bother leaving secret methods behind.

But this same proud Frim had created an elaborate chain of deceptions to assassinate Gorsa.

Saul rubbed his chin. He could only say his master was sometimes really hateable.

Though Keli and Byron saw Saul intact, they were still angry.

Keli crossed her arms and pouted. “Hmph, they were the ones who invited you over, then treated you like this.”

Byron thought about what came next. “The fake Storm Eye we created can only last a few months. If the risk alert is lifted next, will they try to capture you again?”

Saul nodded. “According to the information I received, if nothing happens in the Borderland, they’ll use forceful methods to take me back.”

“Why do they insist on taking you away?” Keli asked urgently. “Can we solve the root of the problem before then?”

“Because I can treat black tide pollution. And during the previous black tide invasion of Nephret, I performed too excellently.” Saul said helplessly.

There was no choice. To successfully plant Mido, he had to have a certain reputation in Nephret, making others trust him and give him a chance to try.

But the cost was revealing part of his trump cards, leading to Frim secretly targeting him and then suddenly imprisoning him.

Keli slapped her forehead. “Ah, then there’s no solution. Even if they peel off your skin, your bones can still absorb pollution.” Follow current novᴇls on novelFire.net

Though Keli said there was no solution, her eyes had already narrowed, clearly thinking of countermeasures.

At this moment, Byron spoke up with a suggestion.

“Or, we could go to the World Side where the Glare Patriarch is located?”
