Chapter 611: Taking Out The Small Fry First
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
Over forty Frost Arrows sliced through the air like a huge ice serpent, zooming towards the Jebel Pangolin at full force!
The Tier 5 Overlord Bosses probably possessed less than 400 Magic Resistance. As for a striker-type Boss like Jebel Pangolin, its Magic Resistance shouldn’t be any higher than that of a Lich. If it couldn’t evade the attack, it would then endure all of Qin Ruo’s arrows and suffer a whopping loss of 30,000 HP…
This amount of damage wasn’t something any Boss could endure, not even the likes of the Jebel Pangolin, who had over a million HP.
And it was as expected…
As it was tanking on the countless Frost Arrows, the Jebel Pangolin was so overwhelmed that it took a huge step back while raising its gigantic arm to cover its head!
Vroommmm!
Suddenly, a powerful vibration was felt in the air! Qin Ruo could feel a trembling soundwave creeping into his ears…
Then, he saw the Jebel Pangolin raising a hemispheric barrier, like a defensive shield, in front of its body!
Clang clang!!
The Frost Arrows then landed on the impenetrable barrier. Every time the barrier was hit, a magical sigil would appear and then disappear in a flash. Due to the enormous amount of Frost Arrows landing on the barrier, the hemispheric barrier’s magical sigils were flashing continuously on Jebel Pangolin’s arms.
The barrier then started to change its color from the original wheat yellow to golden yellow… then to dark yellow…
Two seconds later!
The weird hemispheric barrier suddenly exploded! It had finally been broken through by Qin Ruo’s attack, bursting to millions of yellow light particles in the air.
“What kind of magic is this?”
Qin Ruo was surprised to see this. It was his first time seeing a Defensive Skill that was this sturdy and strong. It could even hold off the Frost Arrows, which had over 550 Magic Attack, not to mention holding off over twenty arrows before shredding to pieces. For a regular player’s Barrier and Shield, the player would be forced to endure over 20,000 HP damage and be killed in an instant…
Fortunately, the Jebel Pangolin’s barrier was strong enough to hold off all the arrows.
The rest of the twenty Frost Arrows finally landed on Jebel Pangolin’s chest, dealing massive damage and inflicting a freezing debuff on the Boss too.
The Jebel Pangolin’s gigantic body shuddered as its wounds were covered by a layer of frost crystals. Even though it wasn’t frozen solid yet, its movement was still slowed down. This was good news for Qin Ruo…
“Go!”
After letting out a sigh of relief, Qin Ruo quickly manipulated the ocean waters…
Whoosh! Whoosh Whoosh!
Again, the Frost Arrows shot out of the ocean!
After depleting around 16,000 HP using the Frost Arrows earlier, Qin Ruo knew that this time, Jebel Pangolin’s weird barrier wouldn’t be appearing again. This was most probably due to its unique Gifted Defensive Skill. These skills usually have a long cool-down; so, it would not be possible for it to hinder his attacks again this time.
Without the barrier, Qin Ruo’s Frost Arrows would surely take out the Jebel Pangolin in no time.
“Roarr!!”
The Boss was enraged!
Red bloody aura suddenly gushed out of Jebel Pangolin’s body, billowing out a thick, overwhelming murderous scent. In an instant, the freezing debuff of the Frost Arrows were negated.
Then, it swung its arm fiercely in the air and three red glaring laser-like beams immediately shot out from its arm…
“Now we’re talking!”
Qin Ruo did not panic at all.
Chii!!!!!
A sharp cry was heard as a ray of golden light dashed out from the ocean! Suddenly, the surrounding areas started to shake, as if the entire dimension had been shaken while the three bloody red beams seemed to have lost their intensity at the same time, slowing down to a crawl…
Qin Ruo quickly glided to the side as the three red beams glossed by his body… missing their target entirely.
Poochie, having succeeded in its first strike, stood on Qin Ruo’s shoulder, wagging its golden tail proudly.
As for the Overlord Boss… it was a nightmare.
Not only did the Jebel Pangolin’s attack miss, but it had also endured the full brunt of the Frost Arrows, having depleted at least 50,000 of its HP!
Two minutes hadn’t even passed yet since Qin Ruo stepped into the Mythical Mirage…
The battle had just started and he only fought with the Boss for around ten seconds. He also severely wounded the Jebel Pangolin, inflicting over 50,000 HP in such a short time.
Things went on much more smoothly than he had expected.
However…
The battle had only started. Qin Ruo must not let his guard down. He knew this Tier 5 Overlord Boss wouldn’t simply succumb to his Arrows so easily.
***
The Jebel Pangolin didn’t only miss its first attack. Its second and third swift attacks didn’t land on their targets too.
Poochie was able to use Shadow Break to negate the Boss’s second attack and then counter it with a Shadow Drill… it was then, that the second wave of Frost Arrows had stopped. Qin Ruo, without wasting any time, backed away and escaped from the Boss’s attack range immediately. Jebel Pangolin was enraged after being wounded so badly. Yet, it didn’t get a chance to pursue Qin Ruo!
In just 15 seconds, Qin Ruo was able to deplete 50,000 HP from Jebel Pangolin. Everything went much more smoothly than he initially thought; however, Qin Ruo didn’t allow this to get over his head and he continued pressing more attacks. He backed away, about thirty meters, and faced the Boss, buying more time for Poochie to cool-down its skills and recover its Mana.
Even though he still had several tricks up his sleeves, there was no need to use those just yet as the battle was tipping to his favor at the moment.
Besides…
Fighting in the ocean gave him an overwhelming advantage; the only problem was that this method would cost him a dear amount of Mana!
Qin Ruo had only hurled out three waves of attacks but he’d used up most of his Mana Potions. His Mana was also depleting quickly.
It was apparent that even though manipulating a huge chunk of geographical element was a great strategy, the required Mana was also equally costly.
It was a constant challenge to maintain his MP when manipulating the enormous amount of ocean water… if the ocean wasn’t granting Qin Ruo any geographical advantage and the Boss didn’t dare to pursue him further into the deeper part of the ocean or didn’t have the support from Poochie, Qin Ruo would have been torn to pieces by the Overlord Boss.
***
Fifteen seconds had passed.
Qin Ruo quickly zoomed forward!
In the meantime, the Boss had swiftly launched an attack too!
After learning from its mistakes, the Jebel Pangolin launched its attack at almost the same time as Qin Ruo. Three yellow beams shot out, slashing across the ocean, as it folded its palms.
The ocean waters were thrusted to the sides due to the sheer force of the yellow beams, as if it were sliced open by the attack!
Meanwhile, three powerful sharp Fatal Frost Crystals also hurled out of Qin Ruo’s staff; together streaking towards the Jebel Pangolin and savagely penetrated its body!
Booom!!!
With Poochie supporting him, Qin Ruo had the luxury to ignore the Boss’s attack. He instantly pointed at the crystals that were impaled into Jebel Pangolin’s body and burst them to pieces!
The attack was very effective!
Qin Ruo was able to observe the profusely bleeding wounds on the gigantic pangolin’s body through his Elemental Perception.
The attack has landed on the target!
Jebel Pangolin has sustained 1258 damage!
Jebel Pangolin has sustained 1301 damage!
Jebel Pangolin has sustained 1314 damage!
…Jebel Pangolin has sustained 1368 damage!
Jebel Pangolin has been inflicted with Frozen debuff! The effect will last for 4 seconds! …Frostplain Greaves’ skills have taken effect! Prolonging the effect to 5 seconds!
…Jebel Pangolin has sustained 1476 damage!
…Jebel Pangolin has sustained 1592 damage!
5 seconds!
Qin Ruo’s face was beaming with joy.
He immediately spurred back to action, whooshing out another volley of Frost Arrows from the ocean again, like a ferocious ice serpent raging towards the frozen Overlord Boss.
When the Jebel Pangolin was suffering the Frozen debuff, its defense was decreased too. After sustaining 40,000 damage from the Frozen Arrows, and topped with the Fatal Frost Crystals’ damage, the Overlord Boss now suffered a whopping 100,000 damage or more.
That was not all…
The Boss was still being ensnared by the five-second Frozen debuff.
Roarrr!!
Ignoring the loud groaning protests from the Blackscale and Deathscale Pangolins from behind their Overlord Boss, another wave of Frost Arrows yet again emerged from the sea…
***
As the Overlord Boss gradually recovered from the Frozen debuff and slowly stepped on the beach again, Qin Ruo’s face saw a huge wide frown.
If the battlefield was not in the waters, he would have a lot of trouble dealing with this giant pangolin.
It was as expected from the Tier 5 Overlord Boss too. After losing its hand twice, it was now deciding to regroup…
“Well then!”
Qin Ruo looked at the furious Blackscale and Deathscale Pangolins by the shore.
“If the big one isn’t going to fight me, I am taking out the small fry first.”
As soon as he made up his mind, Qin Ruo’s body started to turn invisible and he vanished under the water right under the Pangolins’ noses…
Having gotten a foothold on the beach, the Jebel Pangolin turned and saw its opponent suddenly disappearing. The giant pangolin’s rage quickly subsided and it started to scan the surrounding areas cautiously.
As it detected a surge of Mana, the Jebel Pangolin quickly let out a roar towards its pangolin underlings, warning them of the cunning human invader!
However…
He was too slow.
In mere seconds, a Frozen Realm emerged in the middle of the pangolin crowd while several dozen Blackscale Pangolins were frozen instantly.
Re-emerging from inside the Frozen Realm, Qin Ruo quickly flung out several Frost Ramparts!
And before they were able to touch his Shield…
“Burst!!”
A thundering explosion suddenly burst out on the sandy beach, drawing on raging tidal waves from the ocean!

Meanwhile, outside of the Mythical Mirage.
“Hmm?”
Savior threw a glance at his friend.
“What are you doing, Sinistress?”
“Looking at the Leaderboard!”
Sinistress replied, still having her eyes locked onto the leaderboard, “Heh, I suppose some people from our side had gotten tired of waiting. Hmm? Oh, the top of the board is now back to the Angel Faction? That Slayer’s Heart sounds familiar, don’t you think?”
Savior was surprised to see that a Berserker “Slayer’s Heart” could claim the top spot right after Death Jesus rose up to number one.
Sinistress replied with a calm smile, “He was one of the members of the old Bauhinia Clan. Now, he’s in the new Bauhinia Clan. Alright, zip it. I’ll need to go now.”
“Hmm?”
Savior was surprised at first; then quickly searched for a certain name on the Leaderboard. Watching that person’s score getting higher and higher by the second, Savior finally let out a sigh of relief.
“So, he finally acted…”
