Chapter 581: Mythical Mirage, Rules and RestrictionsTranslator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
Qin Ruo sat in front of the computer and accessed the official website. At the same time, he was enjoying the breakfast prepared by Xiaoxiao so early in the morning. He started looking up information regarding the Grand Tournament. Qin Ruo did not listen much yesterday despite many people in the league already partially mentioning about the competition’s information. After all, the food in the Great Winter Hall was very attractive.
After a few seconds…
Qin Ruo suddenly put his milk and sandwich back on the plate. The information on the screen made him instantly serious.
It was a surprise to know that there was an inside story behind the Grand Tournament…
In the Mythical Continent, there was still a third force that was above the Angel and Demon Faction!
With that, everything became clear now…
How was it that the Mercenary Guild could cross over between the Angel and Demon Faction?
Without a camp, why did the Demigod NPCs in the Underworld treat every player in the Angel and Demon Faction fairly?
Why the Mythical Continent’s city infiltration would result in such a situation?
So that’s how it was!
“…”
There was a detailed explanation pertaining to the Grand Tournament on the official website. It mentioned the competition’s organizer as well, a highly secretive organization named Mythic.
The group had started to reveal themselves since the Underworld’s infiltration.
Mythic was a human organization in which all the members inside were either Demigod or Divine Tier. All of them were Mythical Continent’s Champions. The organization had been built by the strongest beings in the Mythical Continent and they were the ones that secretly protected the Mythical Continent from outside forces.
Not only did they have the Angel Faction and Demon Faction’s NPCs as backing, they also had the support from Mythical Continent’s largest organization as well—the Mercenary Guild!
The almighty Mythic were also the organizers of the upcoming competition!
“…”
However, all these consequences were credited to the players in the Mythical Continent. Moonrise City had been destroyed for about two months already, followed by Sin City which was successfully captured by Angel Faction for an hour.
Right now, both the Angel and Demon Faction’s forces were guarding the Moonrise City and Sin City and were both already in a temporary cold war. Hence, the Mythics made use of their influence to convince both the factions’ leaders to organize the Grand Tournament.
The Mythics’ intention was to have an intense combat test on all the adventurers. They wanted to do so before the Underworld had a stronger infiltration to the Mythical Continent again in the future.
Instead of a tournament, it would be more appropriate to say it was a purging exercise to sort out the strong players in the Mythical Continent. The Underworld would have a much stronger infiltration in the future and hence, the Mythical Continent needed to have more higher-level adventurers such as Demigod adventurers and even Divine adventurers.
The rewards included millions of Honor Points, tens of thousands of Reputation Points, a mysterious piece of Demigod equipment and a Tier 6 Skill Manual…
(When a player reaches Tier 6, NPC Elders would not be able to teach the player magic skills directly. The player was required to personally search the Skill Manual or by completing quests.)
Without a doubt, the rewards offered by Mythic were very attractive. It was enough to motivate all the players to take part in the competition.
Qin Ruo rubbed his nose…
“The rewards for first place are so bountiful.”
However, it would be very challenging to get to the first place. Even Qin Ruo himself did not have the full confidence to achieve that among the other Champions.
Angel Faction’s Majestic Hero, Netherclaw, Scarlet Bauhinia, and Homme Fatale all had immeasurable power. Qin Ruo did not have a one hundred percent confidence that he could defeat these four players. During the previous incident at the Valley of Death, Qin Ruo was able to suppress Netherclaw only because he made use of power from the three clans. If it was a one-on-one PvP, Qin Ruo would surely not know what Netherclaw still had up his sleeves.
There were too many formidable players in the Angel Faction!
Qin Ruo started to get a headache now…
Previously, Savior from Satan’s Salvation had eliminated over ten Tier 5 players with just a single magic spell, in which, its magical name too difficult to pronounce. This was something that Qin Ruo needed to be careful as well.
Additionally, there was also H&G’s highest level player, the Death Cult’s Sinistress. Based on rumors, Sinistress was also a formidable player that had power equivalent to the Savior.
Then, there was Zeus Legion’s League Master, Zeus. There were no battle records of him before and hence, Zeus’ powers were still unknown. In short, there were many Champions that still existed in the Mythical Continent…
“Sigh, I can’t even rest for a while.”
Qin Ruo drank his milk and sighed for a second. Initially, Qin Ruo had planned to go to the Underworld to grind for a few days to become Tier 6 but who knew there would be such a competition right after the city’s infiltration.
Qin Ruo continued to browse through the details despite feeling a little despondent.
“…”
The Grand Tournament did not have any other restrictions aside from level!
The competition would be held for five days and it was at the same time divided into five phases.
On the first day, Tier 4 players and above would be sent to the Mythical Mirage after the competition started. The Mythical Mirage was an extra-dimensional space discovered by the Mythic organization long time ago. This would be the first phase’s location—the Trial Place, and it would be prepared by thousands of Divine Champions.
The Trial Place had different kinds of monsters, traps and other unexpected risks. The participants’ objective was to get through to the other side of the Mythical Mirage.
Even if the participants had died during the first phase competition, they would not be eliminated immediately. All the participants had unlimited tries to get through the Mythical Mirage. The participants could proceed to the next phase as long as they were able to complete the objective before the second phase.
Additionally, players who died in Mythical Mirage would not have their level or equipment dropped…
This was indeed a rare opportunity. Qin Ruo believed that even though the competition was very difficult, participants would enjoy it for the most part and overcome its challenges.
After all…the Grand Tournament was more lenient than the Graveyard of the Gods and for sure, such a trial should pose no threat to Qin Ruo.
“…”
The following competition details had attracted Qin Ruo’s attention immediately.
On the competition’s second day, players who had successfully proceeded to the second phase would be sent to the Mythical Mirage’s Purge Tower.
The Purge Tower! A battlefield that had a survivability rate that was near to zero!
A random fifty players would be sorted into this Purge Tower, an acrid battlefield that did not have any terrain advantages for players to exploit.
All the players who were being sent in would be camouflaged by the system. There would be fifty players and fifty Tier 4 or 5 NPCs guarding. All their outfits were standardized making anybody unable to tell friend from foe.
The only thing the players needed to do was to survive…
In the battlefield, every player would have to face the other ninety-nine unknown enemies. They could be Angel Faction’s players, Demon Faction’s players, NPC, or even one’s own clan members.
In short, the player only needed to survive to the very last moment in such zero-survivability battlefields. Only the final winner could advance to the next phase!
The rules were also indulgent for the second phase…
Players could die unlimited times and upon their deaths, the players would not have their equipment or levels dropped. Additionally, players could always choose to re-enter the battlefield with forty-nine other players. As long as they were the final winner, they were automatically qualified to proceed to the next phase, which was on the competition’s third day—the Chosen One!
The Chosen One! Of course, it did not mean that only one person could pass the third phase. It would be ruthless and people would be demotivated if it was so.
The Chosen One here implied that the Mythic organization wanted to filter out the top ten thousand strongest players from the millions of players in the Mythical Continent.
The third phase! This was equivalent to a race…
Each of the players that were qualified to enter phase three would be each sent to a place alone. The place was filled with various monsters and Bosses, and each of them bore a different amount of points. What players needed to do was to get as many points as possible from these monsters within half an hour.
For this occasion, both the game and the official website would display a ranking board. However, it would show only the top ten thousand players scores. Those players with a low score could choose to re-attempt the challenge.
So long the players could get into top ten thousand on the ranking board before the fourth day, were they eligible to proceed to the fourth phase.
The fourth phase was where the players could actually get their first reward from the Mythic organization.
Upon reaching phase four, all the top ten thousand players would be rewarded one hundred Honor Points and one thousand gold coins. This implied that phase four was exactly where the Grand Tournament actually got started.
In the fourth day, the chosen top ten thousand players would be grouped into small parties randomly… Players could use anything they wanted to as long as they were capable to do so. They could even summon one hundred monsters to fight, if they were powerful enough…
After reading this, Qin Ruo started to worry.
“When I return to the game, will Dinosaurcerer request Lich’s Mana Core from me?
“Hope this will not happen… There are still different kinds of Magic Arrows for Bowmasters…”
“Shit… Mythic is encouraging a spendthrift culture for this competition.”
However, Qin Ruo couldn’t say anything… As an Elementalist, he always had hundreds of potions and Magic Scrolls in his Ring of Honor.
If this was a moment to spam resources, there should be nobody who was better than him.
Qin Ruo smirked impudently and looked at the rules of the competition’s last phase. He smiled.
“Luckily…”
“The fifth phase’s rules and regulations are pretty interesting.”
First phase—The Trial Place
Second phase—Purge Tower
Third phase—The Chosen One
Fourth phase—Small party rivalry
The fifth phase… was the most interesting among all the previous phases.
Qin Ruo closed his computer and swiftly finished his breakfast prepared by Xiaoxiao. After a short while, he went back to his warm bed and put on a Virtuhelm…
There were two more days remaining, Qin Ruo still had a good amount of time to prepare.
