My CEO Husband Has Some Issues

Chapter 1516: 1517: Isn't it because you are behind me?

Chapter 1516: Chapter 1517: Isn’t it because you are behind me?

“You’re quite bold, daring to trick me into coming here!”

As soon as he flared up, the bodyguards around him all darkened their expressions, each looking hard to deal with. The tallest one, a towering Black man built like a mountain, silently reached into his left coat pocket and began scanning the surroundings cautiously.

The atmosphere in the courtyard was tense, almost at breaking point, until a soft, lazy voice disrupted the equilibrium.

“He didn’t trick you. He really did kidnap me and bring me here.”

Chu Feng squinted toward the figure walking out of the house. Though in his forties, as a man, he couldn’t help but feel an instinctive thrill at the sight.

No wonder Xi was so uneasy about this woman and insisted he personally deal with her. If even Li Shengxiao could be drawn to such a creature, then it was only natural.

Xi was indeed beautiful, but Rong Yan’s beauty was undeniably more attuned to a man’s aesthetic. It wasn’t purely sensual but carried a beguiling softness—an enticing softness tinged with three parts laziness. And those sharp, confident eyes, so distinctly black and white.

This was the kind of woman who shouldn’t be left alive.

He made the decision in an instant. Although surprised to see Rong Yan, he didn’t appear overly flustered. Instead, he coldly turned his head and glared at Chen Hai with icy disdain. “You’ve joined forces with her. Ha, what did she promise you? Help with getting a kidney or a payout? You don’t trust me but you can trust her?”

“Nothing at all! I just trust Miss Rong. At least she’s not like you!” Chen Hai, restrained by two of the men beside Chu Feng, turned red with fury as he passionately spoke on Rong Yan’s behalf.

“She’s worthy of being even remotely compared to me?”

Chu Feng scoffed with a mocking sneer, not taking Rong Yan seriously in the least. That is, until his bodyguards suddenly groaned in pain and released their grip on Chen Hai. Escaping their clutches, Chen Hai darted to a safer spot.

Chu Feng’s expression shifted repeatedly before he instinctively ducked behind the towering man at his side, speaking in a low voice, “It’s an ambush! Retreat now!”

Before the last word left his lips, the courtyard gates slammed shut. Snipers revealed themselves atop the walls, their cold, hollow barrels aimed directly at their heads. With the slightest move, he knew his brains would be splattered in an instant.

Rong Yan blinked slowly, then finally stepped out of the house and into the courtyard. Standing under the moonlight, she smiled faintly, “Working with me is clearly more reliable than working with you. Look at you now, the kidnapped one—while I hold the power to decide your fate.”

Chu Feng snorted coldly, still able to maintain his composure, “You wouldn’t dare!”

Behind him stood the Chu Family. They were fiercely protective, and even as a distant relative of the Chu Family, given his connection to Xi, if anything were to happen to him, the Chu Family would certainly never let this woman off.

Just a small-time celebrity—she really thought her petty schemes could turn the tides in Capital City?

Rong Yan chuckled lightly, brushing back her hair, “Oh, you’re right. I wouldn’t dare. But my boyfriend would. So, what do you suggest I do?”

Her boyfriend…

Chu Feng was still processing those words when a familiar figure appeared beside Rong Yan, his arm wrapped possessively around her waist. His expression was composed, his voice low and smooth, “Next time, don’t rush out recklessly. If danger arises, I might not have time to protect you.”

Rong Yan’s lips curved into a smile, her eyes bright as stars. Her long, thick lashes curled like little fans, stirring emotions deep in his heart. “Aren’t you always behind me?”

Aren’t you always behind me?

Those words caused the faint displeasure in the man’s demeanor to instantly dissipate. He flexed his slender fingers and gave Chu Feng, who stood dumbstruck in the courtyard, a cold, bloodthirsty glance. “Chu Family?”
