Chapter 1925: Chapter 1935: Going to Work the Day After the Wedding?
Kendall’s face flushed red instantly and she immediately retorted, "I don’t want him to like me! What’s so great about him? I’m not interested in him at all!"
"That’s for the best, I’ll thank you on his behalf," Skye Lawrence’s sarcasm wasn’t any less than Olivia’s.
As expected, Kendall’s face turned blue, white, then purple before settling back to her original expression. She arrogantly glanced at her, dropping the innocent girl facade, and coldly countered, "I doubt Baron Lawrence needs you to thank me for him. You’re no longer part of the Lawrence Family. What gives you the right to thank me on his behalf? You’d better take care of yourself. If I were you, I wouldn’t offend my sister-in-law at a time like this! You’ve fallen to this point and still act so high and mighty!"
"Still think of yourself as the First Young Lady of the Lawrence Family, don’t you!"
Kendall glanced discreetly at the box on the dressing table, sneered, and addressed Skye, "Aunt asked me to lend you the jewelry, and I’ve brought it over. It’s up to you whether to use it or not. No matter whether you use it, I’ll have the servant send it to the store to be sanitized and cleaned again! Haha, I hate using second-hand things the most. If it weren’t for this jewelry being a birthday gift from my Daddy, I would have thrown it away after lending it to you. But since Aunt asked me, make sure to use it well, don’t break it. You can’t afford to pay for it!"
Having said that, she seemed to have regained the upper hand, cast a disdainful glance at Skye, then turned and walked away.
Skye told herself not to mind the words of a little girl, but Kendall’s words were like a knife, stabbing into the most hidden painful spot in her heart.
She stood there, clenching her fists.
Just then, the door opened again.
This time it wasn’t Kendall, but a tall man who walked in.
Seeing her still standing there, he paused for a moment, his eyes revealing an amazed look, and genuinely said, "You look beautiful in the wedding dress."
Skye took a deep breath, regaining her usual calmness, and distantly replied, "Thank you."
Oscar had already walked up to her, looking straight into her eyes, and said again, "I mean it, you truly look beautiful. I’m not complimenting you out of courtesy. This wedding dress really suits you, it’s extremely beautiful."
Skye thought he was going to say something else, but this was what he said. She wasn’t used to being so close to people, especially making eye contact.
She discreetly stepped back, looked surprised at the man whose eyes were bright and slightly different from usual, and said, "I’m going to Linton City tomorrow."
The good atmosphere was like suddenly being doused with a bucket of ice water, turning cold instantly.
The amazement and joy on Oscar’s face slowly faded away, his deep eyes looking at her, seemingly angry yet calmly asking, "Oh? What are you going to Linton City for?"
She’s getting married today, yet she’s already thinking about what to do tomorrow. Doesn’t she feel even a little bit of joy about getting married? Despite everything he’s done these past few days, does she not feel the slightest bit moved?
"Work," Skye replied simply and concisely.
The expression in Oscar’s eyes was completely frozen over, the joy in his heart from the wedding now vanished entirely.
Though clearly angry, he wickedly curled his lips into a smile, grabbed Skye’s wrist, and pushed her against the wall, leaning in closely to say, "Tomorrow? What work do you have in Linton City that’s so urgent? Getting married today and working tomorrow, aren’t you going to spend the honeymoon with me?"
