Also, many thanks to everyone who bought me coffee (*≧∀≦*)

The Crown Prince turned to the Emperor and bowed, cupping his hands in a salute. "Imperial father, this man was stabbed by the guard of my estate. The wound is on his right chest!"

The Emperor gave Gu Changqing a deep, penetrating look and raised a finger.

The Crown Prince’s heart lifted with joy, and he said solemnly, "Examine his injuries!"

The leader of the embroidered-uniform guards stepped forward. Gu Changqing tried to resist, but the leader quickly subdued him.

The Crown Prince thought to himself, After being stabbed by the master, do you think you still have the strength to resist?

The leader of the embroidered-uniform guards swiftly tore open Gu Changqing's clothes. However, as soon as he ripped open the outer garment, a secret document fell out.

Gu Changqing quickly tried to step on it.

But the leader was quicker, picking up the document before he could.

The leader unfolded the paper, took a glance at the map inside, and his face immediately turned pale with shock. "The map of the Crown Prince Estate, the military defense layout of the Han Family..."

So, Long Aotian, you actually stole so many of my confidential documents!

But, you really did a good job of it!

You never expected I’d catch you in the act, did you?

The Crown Prince wanted to laugh out loud. It had been difficult to prove that Long Aotian was colluding with Shangguan Yan, but now, with this solid evidence, there was no need for him to say more. The Emperor would no longer believe Shangguan Yan’s innocence.

After all, who else but Shangguan Yan could have schemed so deliberately against the Crown Prince Estate?

"Imperial father!" The Crown Prince looked at the Emperor with a mix of excitement and triumph.

The Emperor’s gaze fell on Shangguan Yan’s lowered brow, "Do you have anything to say?"

Shangguan Yan calmly replied, "I have nothing to say. After all, you’ve never believed me."

The Emperor, filled with anger and humiliation, snapped, "If it was you, speak up now! Zhen demands your confession!"

Gu Changqing hurriedly interjected, "No! It wasn’t the Crown Princess! It was my own decision! Everything is unrelated to Her Highness! Your Majesty, if anyone should be punished, it should be me alone! I am willing to take full responsibility for all the wrongdoing!"

The Emperor ignored Gu Changqing, his gaze instead turning sternly toward Shangguan Yan. "So, it really was you?"

Shangguan Yan turned his face away.

The Emperor’s chest swelled with anger. "Shangguan Yan, you have deeply disappointed me!"

Gu Changqing anxiously said, "Your Majesty, it really has nothing to do with the Crown Princess, it was all my own doing! The Crown Princess had no knowledge of this!"

The Crown Prince sneered, "Even with death staring you in the face, you're still trying to clear her name. You’re truly loyal to my third sister."

The Emperor, not wanting to see this spy any longer, ordered, "Take him away! Execute him by slow slicing!"

"Wait!" Xiao Heng suddenly spoke up.

The Emperor glared at Xiao Heng. "This has nothing to do with you, don’t meddle!"

Xiao Heng spoke calmly, "Imperial grandfather, I just have one question. Earlier, didn't the Crown Prince insist on examining the wound? Why did it stop after the secret document was found?"

At this, everyone froze for a moment. Uh, it seemed they had indeed forgotten to continue the examination.

The truth was, with the solid evidence in hand, and with Gu Changqing's own indirect admission, the examination seemed unnecessary at this point.

Xiao Heng walked step by step toward Gu Changqing, who instinctively moved back.

Xiao Heng reached out his hand, and Gu Changqing suddenly broke free from the two embroidered-uniform guards, striking at Xiao Heng with a palm attack!

Gu Jiao quickly pulled Xiao Heng away, using her other hand to grab Gu Changqing’s collar and yank it down.

Gu Changqing’s chest, wrapped in bandages, was exposed. Gu Jiao showed no mercy, ripping away the bloody bandages.

However, there were no wounds on his skin.

The blood on the bandages was fake.

The Crown Prince froze in stunned disbelief. Wait, what’s going on? Where is his wound?

Xiao Heng’s expression shifted to one of sudden realization. His gaze turned to the Crown Prince, and with a look of deep disappointment, he said, "Imperial uncle, you really put on a fine performance. If I hadn’t noticed something was off, you might have actually gotten away with it. To think you went to such lengths to frame my mother?"

"I didn’t!" The Crown Prince was completely lost, unable to understand what had just happened. Where had Long Aotian’s injuries gone?

It couldn’t be that they had switched people.

That was impossible; they had searched the Imperial Advisor’s Hall thoroughly and found no other hiding places.

Besides, this person looked exactly like Long Aotian, and they also sounded the same—how could it be someone else?

As the Crown Prince’s thoughts raced, Gu Changqing suddenly reached the door, used his internal force, and slammed the iron door shut with a loud bang!

The Imperial Advisor, Ye Qing, Yu He, and the others were all locked outside.

Inside the secret chamber, only the Emperor, Shangguan Yan, Xiao Heng, Gu Jiao, Gu Changqing, the Crown Prince, and the leader of the embroidered-uniform guards remained.

"What are you trying to do?" The Crown Prince eyed Gu Changqing warily.

Gu Changqing curled the corner of his lips in an evil grin. "Master, can’t you see it yet? This old fool has never cared about you! The one he’s always favored has been Shangguan Yan! Shangguan Yan used a trick to frame you in the imperial palace, didn’t he notice the clues? But he’s still biased toward her! He’s still protecting her! Now that the plan has been exposed, with this old fool’s partiality, you’re never going to be easily forgiven! Since that’s the case, why not go all the way? Kill them all! Then blame it on Shangguan Yan!"

Xiao Heng immediately interrupted, not giving the Crown Prince a chance to speak. "You’re insane! Are you trying to commit regicide?"

"I..." The Crown Prince stammered, but couldn’t finish.

Unfortunately, Gu Changqing didn’t give him a chance to interrupt. "So what if I am? Take this!"

Gu Changqing drew his sword and lunged toward the Emperor!

The Emperor, still seething from being called an "old fool," was furious—this bastard actually dared call him that!!!

The sword plunged towards the Emperor’s body with a sharp sound, and the Emperor was struck with shock.

However, the pain he had expected never came; Shangguan Yan had leapt forward and blocked the sword for the Emperor.

Gu Jiao kicked Gu Changqing away!

The sword was pulled out of Shangguan Yan’s body with a sickening sound!

Blood splattered everywhere, ruthlessly splashing across the Emperor’s face.

The Emperor froze, instinctively holding the fallen Shangguan Yan in his arms.

Shangguan Yan coughed up blood, her body limp in the Emperor’s embrace.

The Emperor, holding her in his arms, crouched down and pressed his hand over her wound. She had been stabbed through the chest, blood pouring out from both her back and chest, flowing so quickly that he couldn’t cover it all.

Even someone as composed as the Emperor began to panic unconsciously, "Yan’er... Yan’er..."

It had been more than ten years since he last called her by that name.

Shangguan Yan, on the verge of death, looked at him with tears welling up in her eyes. "I... didn’t want to... block the sword for you... I still haven’t... forgiven you... but you are... my father... I’ve already... lost my mother... I can’t lose... my father too..."

The Emperor’s heart suddenly twisted into a painful knot, the pain in his chest so intense it almost took his breath away. "Yan’er..."

Shangguan Yan’s body temperature was rapidly fading, and her tears mixed with the blood pouring from her wounds. "I hate you... I hate that you never believed me... I waited for you... at the imperial mausoleum... for so many years... but you never came to see me... I hate you... I hate you..."

She sobbed in the pool of her own blood, her sorrow palpable.

In this world, most things were only truly appreciated once they had been lost.

Never before had the Emperor felt Shangguan Yan’s death so clearly as he did in this moment. He suddenly realized he was losing her, losing the only flesh and blood he had with Xuanyuan Hanyan.

All the unpleasant past seemed to vanish in an instant. All that remained in his mind was Shangguan Yan’s goodness.

He held Shangguan Yan in his arms, his throat tightening with an unbearable pain. "I thought you hated me... that you didn’t want to see me..."

Meanwhile, on the other side, as father and daughter faced their painful separation, Gu Jiao and Gu Changqing were locked in a fierce battle, neither willing to back down.

The Crown Prince, on the other hand, stood frozen, utterly stunned.

The series of events unfolding before him had completely bewildered him.

Logic told him it was all a lie.

But everything felt far too real.

Gu Jiao delivered another kick, sending Gu Changqing crashing into the wall. He stuck to the wall for a full three seconds before tumbling down with a loud crash!

Gu Changqing… or rather, Gu Chengfeng, covered his chest, mentally cursing like crazy.

No way, this stinky girl, it’s just an act, why does it have to be so realistic?

Gu Jiao: Humph, I’m very professional!

Description:

In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.

When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.

The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.

From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.

***

Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.

After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"

Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"

Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”

Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
