Also, many thanks to everyone who bought me coffee (*≧∀≦*)

Gu Jiao was extremely cautious in the Imperial Advisor's Hall, speaking in the voice of a young man at all times.

At least her identity as a woman hadn’t been exposed so far.

But perhaps it would have been better if it had been!

With two grown men acting like this, Yu He was practically on the verge of losing his mind.

What had he done to deserve repeatedly encountering such situations?

He really didn’t want to know about the relationship between the Eldest Imperial Grandson and Young Master Xiao!

And now they were even calling each other "husband"?

Are you two seriously taking this that far?

Also, Young Master Xiao, with your impressive martial prowess, how could you possibly be the one on the bottom? Have you forgotten that you’re now the new commander of the Black Wind Cavalry? Is this how you celebrate your promotion and wealth?

And as for you, Your Highness the Eldest Imperial Grandson, you’re on the brink of death—don’t you think you should take it easy?

No, seriously, both of you, take it easy!

One is a patient, and the other is injured. Overindulgence like that was harmful to your health!

Yu He couldn’t bring himself to look directly at Gu Jiao and Xiao Heng anymore. Standing frozen at the door, he neither dared to enter nor leave.

Xiao Heng turned his head and spotted Yu He, who looked as if he had just been struck by lightning.

His body stiffened slightly, but he didn’t immediately push Gu Jiao away. Instead, he held her even tighter, raising his wide sleeve to completely cover her little head. Then, he shot Yu He a look that seemed to say, "Figure it out for yourself."

“Is someone here?” Gu Jiao asked.

“It’s nothing.” Xiao Heng replied in a calm tone.

The corner of Yu He’s mouth twitched. Your Highness, have you truly reached such a high level of composure?

The last time something like this happened, you still blushed and quickly separated!

Now you can treat me like I’m invisible, like I’m some pumpkin on the corner?!

Yu He mentally ranted, feeling like the image of the courteous gentleman he had always tried to maintain was slipping away.

See no evil, hear no evil.

Yu He once again closed his eyes, blindly stumbling into the room. He placed the medicinal soup on the table, then blindly stumbled back out.

The more you experienced something, the less awkward it got.

At least he didn’t run into any walls this time.

By the time Yu He had walked far away, Xiao Heng’s ears finally started to turn a faint shade of red.

He was thin-skinned—how could he possibly remain unfazed after being caught like that? But compared to pushing her away when she was already weak, it was better to endure Yu He’s witnessing the scene.

Thinking about what Gu Jiao had said earlier, Xiao Heng couldn’t help but feel both frustrated and amused, "Why are you so mischievous?"

Gu Jiao, fully displaying her inner drama queen, put on an overly exaggerated expression. “Man, you started the fire, so you put it out yourself!”

Xiao Heng: “…”

Gu Jiao kept a little notebook where she meticulously recorded everything.

Xiao Heng didn’t have a notebook, but he kept everything in his heart.

Every word she said was something she would have to fulfill, and with interest, the kind that compounded over time.

Gu Jiao had no idea that her husband had transformed into a cunning wolf, planning to devour her bit by bit when the time came.

After drinking the medicinal soup, Gu Jiao felt a surge of energy coursing through her body, and her legs no longer felt as weak and sore. She was able to take a few steps with a bit more ease.

Xiao Heng, feeling sorry for her, brought over a wheelchair.

“Use this.” Xiao Heng said.

Gu Jiao thought for a moment and then sat down.

It was her first time using one, and she found it oddly novel.

“Where do you want to go? I’ll push——”

Before he could finish his sentence, Xiao Heng watched as Gu Jiao, with her big paw wrapped in bandages, pushed the wheelchair’s wheels and zoomed down the corridor at full speed.

Xiao Heng: “…”

Gu Jiao raced all the way to the courtyard, but once she reached the grassy area, the wheelchair became a bit difficult to maneuver.

The horse king, trotting over eagerly, approached Gu Jiao with curiosity in its eyes.

“Push me over there.” Gu Jiao instructed the horse king.

The horse king obediently circled around to the back of the wheelchair, using its head to nudge against the backrest, and pushed Gu Jiao right up to the Black Wind King.

Gu Jiao tilted her head up and stretched out her hand. “Big Boss.”

The Black Wind King lifted one of its hooves.

The person and the horse exchanged a friendly handshake—well, more like a hoofshake.

Both the Black Wind King and Gu Jiao needed proper rest to recover. While the Black Wind King obediently stayed in the courtyard to heal, Gu Jiao was far less compliant.

She looped the reins around the horse king’s neck.

She didn’t have sled dogs, but she had a wheelchair horse.

The horse king pulled Gu Jiao as they sped around the Imperial Advisor's Hall, the wind rushing past them.

Half an hour later.

The wheelchair at the Imperial Advisor's Hall was completely wrecked.

The person and the horse sat on the garden path, surrounded by the broken remains of the wheelchair, one of its wheels nowhere to be found.

Both were covered in grass clippings, their expressions perfectly synchronized, both looking utterly innocent.

When Ye Qing arrived with a new wheelchair, he was met with the chaotic scene and was at a loss for words.

Gu Jiao preemptively complained, “The wheelchairs at your Imperial Advisor's Hall are of poor quality. You should improve them in the future.”

Ye Qing: “…”

Ye Qing had come at Yu He’s request to check on Young Master Xiao’s recovery and see if there were any lingering aftereffects. Instead, he found someone recklessly speeding around the Imperial Advisor's Hall.

He had tried to call out to her, but she didn’t stop.

Then he heard a loud crash…

Ye Qing helped Gu Jiao into the new wheelchair.

Gu Jiao looked at the horse king.

The horse king immediately perked up!

Ye Qing’s eyelid twitched violently. “Young Master Xiao, you need to rest more and avoid moving around too much.”

Gu Jiao replied, “Oh.”

Clearly, she had no intention of staying put.

At that moment, the Black Wind King strolled over and led the horse king away.

The horse king didn’t want to go, but at two and a half years old, it was no match for the Black Wind King.

With one of the troublemakers gone, Ye Qing finally breathed a sigh of relief. He couldn’t help but think—when did Young Master Xiao become so mischievous?

Was it true that idleness breeds mischief?

Ye Qing moved behind Gu Jiao and pushed the wheelchair, saying, “I’ll take Young Master Xiao back to the Qilin Hall.”

Gu Jiao quickly interrupted, “Wait, I’m not going back to the Qilin Hall yet. Where is your master?”

Ye Qing answered truthfully, “Master is in the purple bamboo grove.”

Gu Jiao nodded. “Take me to your master.”

Master might not want to see you.

He’s quite busy at the moment.

Fine, I’ll take you for a stroll around the purple bamboo grove first. At least it’ll keep you from stirring up trouble with Little Eleven again.

Ye Qing pushed Gu Jiao toward the purple bBamboo grove.

Gu Jiao raised her hand to shield her eyes from the sun.

“Are your eyes uncomfortable?” Ye Qing noticed her movement.

Gu Jiao replied, “They sting a bit after being exposed to bright light for too long.”

Ye Qing called over a passing disciple.

“Senior brother.” The disciple greeted respectfully.

“Bring me an umbrella.” Ye Qing instructed.

“Yes!” The disciple quickly fetched an umbrella from a nearby courtyard. “Senior brother, here.”

Ye Qing took the umbrella, opened it, and held it over Gu Jiao with one hand while pushing the wheelchair with the other.

Description:

In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.

When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.

The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.

From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.

***

Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.

After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"

Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"

Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”

Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
