Chapter 765: One of the Elders of Utopia

Gu Yang glanced at Gu Jin.
At that moment, Gu Jin rested her head on her hand, eyes closed in repose. In the dim light, her typically austere profile softened with a touch of grace.
As Jiang Mo commenced singing the song Gu Jin had penned, the man seated to Gu Yang’s left abruptly departed.
Shortly after his departure, Gu Jin also stirred, her eyes revealing a glint of coldness.
Rising to her feet, Gu Jin addressed Gu Yang, “I’ll head back. You stay and enjoy the show.”
Though Gu Yang harbored some suspicions, she acquiesced with a nod.
The concert continued unabated, with sporadic departures for restroom breaks.
Gu Jin concealed most of her face behind a black mask, her expression obscured but her sharp eyes unmistakable.
She trailed the departing man discreetly.
Though unfamiliar, something about him had caught her attention. His facial features and complexion appeared mismatched, a clear attempt at disguise.
Since then, Gu Jin had surreptitiously monitored his movements. Her scrutiny had unveiled a conspicuous detail: a hefty golden bracelet adorning his wrist.
This bracelet, seemingly ordinary, was in fact crafted from a special material: nanotubes.
Despite its slender form, nanotubes possessed remarkable strength and durability. Capable of bearing multiple individuals’ weight or doubling as a cutting tool, it was a formidable weapon in disguise.
Gu Jin had encountered this before with Feng Jue.
This item was a product of Utopia, exclusively available to their elders and leaders.
In the past, Feng Jue had slain one of Utopia’s elders and obtained a similar golden rope.
Originally, Utopia boasted twelve elders, leaving eleven remaining.
Nearly everyone affiliated with this organization carried culpability. The twelve elders perennially graced the International Mutant Alliance and various countries’ Mutant departments’ most-wanted lists.
Gu Jin tailed him discreetly, trailing him into a musical instrument shop nestled on a nearby street corner.
The shop predominantly showcased Western instruments.
The man in black inspected a drum, running his fingers over its surface.
Enthusiastic staff members eagerly presented the drum set’s features.
Gu Jin strolled into the shop casually, perusing the instruments until she drew near the man in black.
As she brushed past the man in black, Gu Jin’s hand shot out to seize his arm.
But just as she was about to apprehend him, he let out a soft chuckle and tapped the drum lightly.
In that instant, Gu Jin sensed something awry.
Then, darkness enveloped her in sync with the drumbeat.
Before her eyes stretched endless ruins, a sea of blood seemingly swallowing her whole. A torrent of repressed negative emotions surged forth, engulfing her.
Light and warmth gradually ebbed away, leaving a frigid void.
She felt suffocated, crushed by anguish, a desire for oblivion consuming her.
“Pain? Let’s end it…”
“As the needle strikes twelve, a new day begins. The end heralds a fresh start…”
His voice, a dulcet counterpoint to the rhythmic drumming, echoed like a siren’s call, entrancing and irresistible.
Shortly after Gu Jin’s departure, Gu Yang trailed after her, exiting the concert venue.
Big Shot Sister’s parting words left Gu Yang feeling uneasy, a sense of impending danger looming over her.
From a distance, Gu Yang observed as Gu Jin disappeared into the western musical instrument shop on the street corner. She hastened her pace to catch up.
Peering through the glass door, an eerie stillness pervaded the shop.
The black foreigner was engrossed in drumming, while the shop’s patrons seemed entranced, their actions bizarre.
Some inserted keys into their mouths, while others prostrated themselves before the walls…
Meanwhile, Gu Jin stood by the drums, a long, slender silver needle clutched in her hand. With alarming resolve, she drove it into her own neck!
